It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Highly doubt Mason we'll be back for this one given the reports from practice last week. If it was on Sunday and they had a full week of normal practices i'd say there was a chance but this being a Thursday game just don't think he'll play.
Dion Lewis and Shaq Mason were there and taking part in the walkthrough.
Time to start calling Mason Big Diesel. This is one of my favorite draft classes. Two great d lines with tons of depth at the moment.I'd love to see Mason come back and watch him trapping and pulling. Wake isn't very good against the run as it is but Mason would obliterate him and make for some wide open running lanes.
Just one quick point to start the football conversation.
The Phins defense does present on interesting problem we haven't seen yet, at least on the surface. With Wake and Vernon as 2 accomplish speed rushers from the outside along with Suh pressuring the middle the Pats are going to have to come up with something different in their game plan.
This is very simple but I don't know the Dolphins' personnel well enough yet to go deeper, and we'll have to go fast as the game is in 2 more days. But on the surface, my instinct is to run right at Wake. To a lesser degree use the same game plan we used vs the Jets. In other words, against NJ we decided we wouldn't be successful with the run (for a number of reasons), so why bother and thus eliminate a strength of the Jets. Wake is a big asset to the Phin defense as a pass rusher, but is a weakness against the rush. Every time you run right at him, you are not only eliminating a strength, you are accentuating a weakness
Of course that will depend on who is available on the OL and at RB this week. It must be a big temptation to sit all the banged up brigade and allow them the full 1o more days to fully heal. At any rate this is a start, but we really need to start checking this team out. Adding Suh was the only reasons so many mediot had the Dolphins as a legitimate threat to beat the Pats for the division.
BTW- an interesting stat. Every team in the AFCE has at least 3 wins. Do you know that 3 wins would get you at least a tie for first in 2 of the NFL's divisions.
I had that shirt...........wish I could find it!!They need to start selling a remake of that '86 Patriots shirt
My first Pats T-shirt, was a very thin red "squish the fish t-shirt"....
If this was a 1:00 PM game would have my best friend over to watch the game, and probably serve some "dolphin chowder" and a variety of other dolphin delicacies..
If it was at his house, I would be greeted by a lifesize Dan Marino cutout at the front door..
I like this rivalry and it is better if you have friends involved, but Thursday nite games suck..

As much as we like to mock and ridicule Jets fans (and even Buffalo fans), Dolphins fans are more delusional than both fanbases combined.
On the upside, the Dolphins LBs are absolutely horrible. Among the worst in the league. I think we'll see a lot of 2 TE (would love to see lots of snaps for Williams), and a lot of RB staying in the backfield or running delayed routes. The Pats should definitely run right at Wake, and while it's a bummer that Mason's likely out, this is hopefully the week that Wendell comes back. Force the Dolphins to try to contain, and get to their LBs knowing that's a matchup you can consistently win. Once you've established that, start punishing them with play action passes to shallow/intermediate crosses or seam routes. Any opportunity to get Edelman, Lewis, Gronk, or even Amendola in space against their LBs is a near-automatic win.
Basically, just keep their LBs guessing, and relentlessly target them until they inevitably break. As good as that DL is, the defense as a whole doesn't worry me much because we match up so well against them otherwise. Personally, I think this game will be won or lost on the Pats' ability to handle Jarvis Landry and Lamar Miller. The Dolphins' skill position players are the most talented they've been in a long time, and this feels like it could be the kind of week where Jordan Cameron has a Scott Chandler-esque career game.
There's a huge Dolphin fan where I'm at and we talked over the game. He's pretty concerned about a letdown on Thursday night, and what that would do to the team. I told him that if they could rush four and get to Brady, it'd be a problem. However, he said the one thing that the Pats could exploit is Miami's LB corps. He said it basically sucks and Edelman and Gronk could and should have a field day there if the pass rush doesn't get to Brady immediately.
He's high on Jones, and made the claim that he's the best safety in the NFL. Not sure about all that, but interesting that the LB corps is a weakness for Miami. That doesn't bode well for their run D or their ability to stop the short passes to Edelman and Lewis.
