How Many Quarterbacks Have To Go Down Before Polo Gets More Reps?

Is the OP the same who wrote about being worried about the offense in preseason? Or was it Shmessy?

I agree. I've been saying this for years, even going back to the 2007 season. But I'm also cautious about Brady getting hit low and dirty by some DL/LB/DB who's butthurt about it.

You know why this doesn't happen? Because whether you love or hate the guy, everyone's all part of the same brotherhood, and the same union for that matter. They're not going to do something that they don't want to happen to them.

There are always the rogue player or two out there, I suppose, but for the most part, there's no real concern about it - not for me anyway.

Theres only one QB that needs to go down for JG to get more reps.

Romo and Ben's injuries don't effect JG's playing time in the least.

And with that in mind, Brady comes out in the first quarter once the Pats have a lead against Miami. Suh is a master craftsman when it comes to stomping on marquee players.

And I agree players do not want cheap hits. Both the brotherhood sense and the sense there are plenty of big lads capable of returning the favor in regard to your own health and career prospects.

You're assuming, of course, that Suh is actually trying at this point.

What? There are plenty of players out there who don't give a **** about maliciously hurting another athlete. One IMMEDIATELY pops to mind and he plays for Miami, a team we see twice a year.

It's not "plenty", it's a handful. And that player your mentioning doesn't appear to be trying much this year.

You're talking about a sport where people punch, kick, grab, and gouge each other in pile ups. If what you're saying was the case, there wouldn't be players coming up with a "dirtiest in the league" list of their peers. Hell, we saw a filthy shot happen to Brady before when Pollard put his helmet into his knee. One year later, we saw Suggs openly dive at the surgically repaired knee. We saw Suggs just this past preseason dive at Bradford's. We see safeties go low on WR's and RB's alike all the time. Dustin Keller had his career ended by a dirty hit. Suh in Week 1 alone stomped someone again. Him "not trying" (which is completely made up, by the way) is completely irrelevant to how dirty of a player he is. This is a very violent contact sport that some people take very seriously. It's definitely not out of the realm of possiblity that it could happen to Brady again. Again being the key word there.

Ah, that's where you and I part ways then. I didn't think that Pollard hit was dirty, he was avoiding Sammy Morris who was in the process of whiffing on the block at the time.

Also, Suggs is out for the season.

Also, what did Suh do that was dirty when he played the Patriots last year?

But ok, we'll wrap Brady in bubble wrap and only let him play in the first quarter, I'm sure that will make you feel better.

The Brady hit was the only hit of Pollard's that I thought was dirty. He launched from the ground right at it and put his helmet right on the side of his knee. Not sure how anyone didn't think that was dirty. Suggs and Suh are just two examples. Once again, players come out with lists of the dirtiest of their peers and Brady was a victim of a helmet to the knee anyway. No need to wrap Brady in bubble wrap. Just saying I hope it doesn't happen by some butthurt DL/LB/DB. I understand why you're trying to convince yourself otherwise. It's subconscious. You don't want to have to worry about that happening when he's on the field, up 30, and dropping back to pass so you're trying to convince yourself that it's only a couple of guys that play dirty. I assure you that I'm not trying to scare you. Just saying that it's a real possibility in a league of babies.

I'm hardly scared.

He's a professional football player. Injuries happen.

If the head coach and quarterback himself think it's ok for him to be out there, I'm going to side with them, and not you.

Otherwise, I'd love to hear your parameters as to how much Brady should be allowed to play, just for my own entertainment.

Reading comprehension is the order of the day, it seems. Feel free to go back and read my post on page one of this thread, my posts on the subject in other threads, and my posts back in 2007.

Nobody is talking about playing scared. We're talking about Brady staying in games late in the 4th quarter with a 3 score lead AND tossing passes from a no-huddle. It doesn't even matter if they take him out. I'd settle for a few runs.

Why bang your head against a wall running when you are really good at passing?

That one drive against the Jaguars, 17 plays, 9+ minutes. Was that one ok? If it was, then why is this thread a thing? Where was it last week or the week before?

It's ok to give Jimmy G more then 2 snaps in the 4th if were up by 30. Really it is...I checked.

Why should he get any?

I know this isn't what the thread is about but I can't help but wonder if Houston would offer something good for JG. O'Brien hasn't come close to fixing that position and he could add Hoyer to a deal. Of course it would cost him, in no way am I looking to dump JG.

Why should he get any?

Weighing the benefits and drawbacks I can think of a couple off the top of my head...

Benefit - less chance of injury to Tom Brady
Drawback - less chance of Tom Brady being AFC Offensive Player of the Week
