Goodell being interviewed for 60 mins

There's no doubt that this will be a interview completely scripted by the NFL. CBS won't risk the NFL TV rights by asking him tough questions.

The bad news is that Goodell is going into that interview with a 2 Billion dollar choke hold on CBS The good news is that Goodell is going to have to say something, so the chances of him saying something extremely stupid is STILL pretty good. ;)

I just listened to the Showtime 60 minutes again. The guy not only makes a compelling and damning case against the NFL, he seems like he has a lot more to say, given the chance. I find it hard to think 60 minutes will be able to ignore referencing their own work, even if no one saw it . (IIRC the rest of news media gave Dexter Manley more repeat coverage than this respected jurist. )

I'm really finding it hard to figure that given the concussion issue, CBS's own deflategate story, and the fact that TWO Federal Judges in a row have called him a liar to his face; why Goodell was seeking out 60 minutes. Of all the reasons that come to mind, NONE of them are any good for Tom and our franchise. So this news really worries me. There is no lie or fraud or maliciousness, that I wouldn't put past this organization.

These are guys who are the worst kind of people to have to go against. They are stupid to the point of being self destructive. That are selfish to the point of sinking the ship just so no one else can sail it. And they are petty to the point of ignoring ways out of the confrontation, if they think it will make them look bad. In other words they'd rather die and take everyone with them, rather than admit error or even seen in error. They've had ample opportunity all summer and thumbed their nose at any logical compromise other than " admit your guilty to a crime we know you didn't commit." They are people you cannot reason with for mutual gain. They want to win and you to DIE.

So what did Goodell say to 60 minutes? I have no f**king idea, but I'm not looking forward to find out,

Someone exhume David Frost. He got Tricky **** to almost admit to being a crook....

Go hard at this fraud of a commissioner.

Bury him.

Lara Kroft has an opportunity to make a big name for himself

As much as I hate to say this, there is zero chance that we are going to like what we see when it airs. I kind of think this is the NFL taking a shot across our bow, saying we even have 60 Minutes on our back pocket. You still want to push this?

Give me a live interview from a completely independent journalist (I know, they don't exist anymore...) and MAYBE you might actual have something their. Otherwise, it's just more propaganda ...
Give me a show where he's interviewed by Sally Jenkins and Joker.

Only if 60 Minutes is corrupt and in on it. I have a glimmer of hope they have some integrity but not expecting it. 60 Minutes Sports did right.

@stevekroft is doing the interview https://twitter.com/stevekroft

If CBS feels like the Goodell Train is very likely to come off the track, they could do a credible job asking a known liar at the head of a $45 billion entity some questions that he's been artfully avoiding - even as member of the media like Sally Jenkins eviscerate Goodell

Adding this little nugget of the NFL's contradiction of itself on whether Fantasy Sports - the ability to place a $20 wager on how many TDs Brady scores - constitutes Gambling.

http://espn.go.com/chalk/story/_/id...says-there-difference-fantasy-sports-gambling

More lies from Goodell stating that Fantasy Sports aren't gambling when another NFL official testifies it is

In some ways this story might be more significant to the mainstream media than Goodell's efforts to unfairly slander the GOAT - or at the very least, the straw that broke the camel's back

where's this "interview" taking place?............

I hate Goodell, but what could he realistically do about concussions?

Given 60 minutes previous stellar reputation (it crashed after they caved to big tobacco) and their sister show's airing of a legal expert's extreme skepticism of framegate, I would expect the questions to go right to the heart of "deflategate" from a fully adversarial position. That adversarial position should be educated on the slimy tricks Goodell pulled, the clear weakness of the case, and come at him hard when he uses those weak "for the integrity" platitude answers.

Media bias is a very tricky thing. What questions are asked and how questions are framed establishes so called facts that actually are not factual whatsoever. For example:
- What did you think the moment judge Berman overturned the punishment you handed out to Tom Brady based on the findings of the independent investigator?
** sets a clear implication the investigation was proper, the punishment/procedure was proper, and the judgement against the NFL seemingly happened on a whim**

Back in the day a 60 minutes type interview(actual investigative reporting) would blast away with well established facts and logic based skepticism. They would drive home how the instigation could in no possible way be considered "independent". They would drive home how Goodell repeatedly used the word "integrity" yet his oft repeated use of the word "independent investigation" to the media was clearly contrary to the facts and therefore does not follow his own "integrity" mantra. ((and that's just the tip of the iceberg on what they can hammer Goodell on regarding dishonesty and his own lack of integrity)).

Framegate would have been right up the alley of the old 60 minutes. Goodell would be in for a burning to a crisp. Unfortunately this smells much more like the type of interview and questions that will be light on digging into the slimy underbelly of the procedure and provide Goodell a platform to look like he was just doing his job as fair and as correct as he could.
We shall see....

Goodell is being interviewed for 60 minutes? Steve Kroft won't last 2 minutes with this clown before he starts to feel dirty.

The old 60 Minutes would have ripped this jackass apart.

Maybe South African reporter Lara Logan will come back to do this piece.

LL: I don't understand American football, how important is the ball's weight? Is a couple of pounds really as bad as taking performance enhancing drugs?

RG: Hypothetically, if one player is throwing a ball that is 2lbs lighter than the opposing player, with 50 passes each during a game, several hundred passes over a season, all that weight adds up into thousands of pounds, or something. We had Exponent study it. They concluded that: "There is not a single player in the league, even if you gave him all the steroids in the whole wide world, that could throw thousands of pounds of balls [redacted] like Tom Brady does." That is a huge competitive advantage.

LL: The Patriots claim to have demonstrated with physics-

RG: Pardon my interruption, Lara. Physics, really? That whole *air quotes* science *air quotes* was invented by a dude that was dumb enough to read a book under an apple tree during picking season when food was scarce. And *laughter* he got hit in the head by a falling apple. You can't make this *bleep* up! *uncontrolled laughter into a robotic stare*

RG: As you can see, confronted with the evidence I was given, I was lenient in the penalty phase.

LL: Indeed. It does seem you were extremely generous.

LL: Speaking of generous, October is just around the corner, and I understand you are the brilliant and caring man behind the idea of making people aware of breast cancer by wearing pink clothing. Please use the remainder of the segment to tell us more about the kind, gentle, caring man you truly are?

For the first time in months, fans are thinking about football instead of legal cases involving the NFL. So Goodell's "solution" is to go on a national news show to talk about the legal case no doubt.

I honestly am wondering if he is brain-damaged or has started doing drugs with Irsay.

Low and diminished expectations are probably the best description..

60 minutes has morphed into puff pieces for the status quo.. they used to be good, now are shells of themselves.

I'd like to respectfully disagree with the majority opinion here....

CBS is not going to "lose NFL rights" if they do an investigative piece on the NFL. They're paying billions of dollars. All 4 of the major networks have the NFL (Disney chooses to broadcast MNF on ESPN instead of ABC). It isn't like CBS has to worry about being outbid by a competitor and lose the rights entirely like happened 20 years ago.

As for Thursday night....

Goodell and the NFL will sell the Thursday Night Package to the highest bidder, period. A hard-hitting piece of investigative journalism by one of the "big-3" networks won't change that.

Maybe I am being foolishly naive (which wouldn't be the first time).... but I am hoping that if they are investigating deflategate, then they may do so with some journalistic integrity....

You could live in a bar and it still wouldn't be enough

There might be a bar that has enough booze to make Fraudger look good, but nobody could drink it all.
