This kid has an unusual level of maturity.. 20 years old, a wife and 2 kids.. smart, well spoken, has his head on straight..

Talk about a solid, safe pick... don't have to worry about him out at the clubs getting into trouble or shooting someone thats for damn sure!

At 20, his body isn't even finished physically maturing.... really excited about this guy next to Easely and Jones, with Hightower, Collins and Mayo backing them up..

who needs a lock down corner when you can terrorize offenses with your front 7!

While I don't consider him the steal some people do I look at what was on the board and was not overly excited about any option. Probably the best player they could pick at a premium position.

I really know nothing about Brown, but I am excited about him and of course I think he is awesome now.

He's EXTREMELY stout against the run but he needs to work on his first step and technique as a pass rusher. He basically relies on raw strength to get to the passer and that won't work for him as much at this level. Still, technique can be taught and we have the best in the business at it. Be excited. This was a fantastic selection. Now I want to see the team go (in no particular order) OG, WR, CB, and S.

Crazy that such a talented DT is added to the Pats SB winning team so late in the draft. I am beyond ecstatic at how this turned out

Ok, we have the first Malcom Brown controversy. Apparently he lied about his age:

BTW, University of Texas confirmed to @mattpep15 that Malcom Brown is 21, not 20. Birthday in February

This already shaping up to be the biggest draft bust in Patriots history. No wonder every other team in the first round passed on him. If he lied about his age, what else is he lying about?:D

We should all be in agreement with this pick. Best player on the board at a position of need. I
hope a couple more fall to us tonight.

So you say he's a cheater? Welcome to the N E Patriots, Malcom Brown:D

2001 - Seymour
2003 - Warren
2004 - Wilfork

2012 - Jones
2014 - Easley
2015 - Brown

History repeats itself on the DL

Well, he could have taken a picture with Danny Almonte. That would have been akin to Winston's crab legs picture.

Belichick said, "260 pounds or whatever he is" in the press conference, and it was an off the cuff remark at midnight of a long day. I know he has an elephant's memory about details, but when I heard it live it sounded like when he said, "myFace or whatever it is," rather than him stating facts. I'm going with what Easley himself said versus what BB said in this context until proven otherwise.
I agree. Sometimes BB will say those things as premeditated misdirection but I'm convinced he misspoke.

The Pats monitor weight more closely than the manager of The Rockets. They'd freak if he lost 25 lbs

I hate Winston (Gator fan), but even I thought that was funny albeit immature.

I think I palmed my face. Blame it on youth, or blame it on whatever, but I would have been eating pizza instead.

I'm really liking the potential on defensive line next year. Adding Sheard, Easley, and Malcom to the mix greatly improves our talent level. I remember Brown being pretty much a consensus choice amongst the draft talk boardees months ago. It seems like we've really lucked out the past two first rounds with potential value picks.

I love this pick. And I love the potential brewing in the front seven. A lot of youth, a ton of upside, all led by saavy vets in Mayo and Nink.

Is he an impact player now or will he be a bit of a project? I know Easley was injured and that was most of the reason I believe he wasn't much of an impact player (although he had a couple of nice games like vs the Bears). This d-line has some scary potential if Brown and Easley pan out combined with the large masses they call Sealver Siliga and Alan Branch.

Its awesome to look at this team, and how young they are, and just wonder about how good they could be. Losing Revis/Browner hurts, especially Revis, but with the improvements we've made on the line and the continued development of our pro bowl caliber linebackers, we could have a niiice defense next year.

"He was a starter on a SB winning team" is not a reason to get complacent and ignore a deficiency. That's my point. Greg Robinson-Randall was a starting tackle when the Pats won SB36 and he was awful. They need help at guard either thru FA or this draft. If you disagree with that I understand, but if you disagree with that just because they won the SB last year, then that's silliness.

I agree that the position could be upgraded, but to expect a rookie guard not taken early to be a similar upgrade as in Smith to Dillon was what I took exception too. Anytime you can get a guy that is top 5 at his position, you do it. That is why I mentioned bringing in Mathis would be a similar type upgrade as Smith/Dillon

Lied about being 20 instead of 21? Well I'll be damned usually it's the other way around...

Surprised so many want a running back. I think Travaris Cadet is going to be a steal and as for the non-pass catching backs we've always done well just plug and play. Rather load up on the line unless it's a real can't miss back like an Adrian Peterson (minus the kid beating).
