Last year, for instance, the cap jumped from $123 million to a record $133 million – much higher than the league's original projections. The NFL management council informed teams last month the 2015 cap is expected to be $138.6 million to $141.8 million. The union disagrees and will issue its own projections before the NFL scouting combine begins Feb. 17, Smith said.
Revis' 2015 cap no is 25 million.
I'm a Mayo fan but unless we're playing a lot of base next year, his cap hit is too big for someone who spends a lot of time on the bench because, let's face it, Hightower and Collins are the future. Having said that, three quality linebackers are better than two - I'm hoping for a renegotiation.
Edit: It should be noted that when Mayo was fit at the start of the year, we did have all three linebackers on the field a lot with Hightower playing SLB/OLB a lot more.
Amendola goes: Welker ( )
I hope you are joking
Some of my thoughts:
5. Revis is not going anywhere, they will pay the $20M before they let him walk and then franchise him again in 2016 so it is essentially control of Revis for 2 seasons. Not to mention they take a $5M cap hit even if they cut him, Revis is not going anywhere I am almost certain of that.
No way. We finally win the SB with a great secondary. They need to keep this D intact as much as they can and try to improve it, not break it down. They really need to start thinking short term in the form of the next 2-3 years in regards to the salary cap and do whatever they can to keep Revis, Browner, and McCourty. There's going to be some tough decisions to be made. For example, I'd love Brandon Browner to stay but he's due about 5.5 mil next year and can be cut before the league year at, I believe, no cost. I'm hoping he stays, but in addition to Revis and McCourty , that's a lot invested in the secondary.
Yeah, ya got me on that. Ok, 3rd best.
