Doing what you can expect to actually accomplish, is what BB did. He chose the lesser poison, giving up 10 yard max runs on the interior, and no long runs or passes.

We've gone around the block with this debate for awhile, AZ--and I don't think either one of us are going to change our minds very much.

We should probably just let it go. I don't think you're going to find anyone who's going to agree with you that Bill Belichick was a crazy sly fox who replicated his hall of fame gameplan against Jim Kelly and the Bills in SB25 by doing the same to the one-dimensional Jets offense last week.

The truth is that we had a very poor effort coming on a short week with the defensive QB (Mayo) out for his first game. Belichick himself admitted to a very poor gameplan and took responsibility for it not being effective.

The reality is that the patriots gave up 190 yards about 5 times in the last 5 seasons. This year alone, the total is 3. Something is seriously wrong with our run defense.

There might be another reason for giving up so many running yards. Fans understand that team will have some poor efforts during the season and still be SB capable. So far, it seems that we have had 3 poor efforts resulting in 2 losses, and a win that might have been called back with a penalty on the last play.

Part of the reason that the Patriots did not give up many yards running over the past five seasons is that they had one of the worst pass defenses in the entire league. Why run the ball when even backups and rookies were having their way with our secondary. Throw in the fact that Brady and the offense were putting up tons of points during those years and opponents had to pass to keep up. Our run defense was never really tested.

There may be some truth to what you're saying, but I don't think it's exactly the norm of any Bill Belichick coached defense to give up close to 200 yards on a fairly regular basis (already 3 of 7 games this year).

You and I strongly disagree. I saw us play one the worst teams in the NFL, with one the very worst passing games in the NFL. The jets didn't pay great. Belichick put the jets in a position to win on the last play of the game.
