Incognito could walk into the meeting room today and be an instantaneous improvement. I wouldn't mind seeing him on a one year rental.

When it comes to the Patriots O-Line I guess Bigger isn't necessarily better. With so much 300lbs guys I cannot believe how we are getting manhandled. Our Guards are getting owned and our Tackles leave alot to be desired. We can only hope they find and Stick To a effective combination real fast. Also the blocking scheme needs to be adjusted more chips on the outisde guys to slow down the rush and help out the Tackles.

Everyone has a different opinion. But if we can get set at the center position, with Solder set at LT, then we can figure out which solution works best. Maybe Cannon won't ever be good at guard, but it's hard to tell after only 3 games at LG and with an unstable line. Maybe Connolly doesn't cut it as a starting level guard. Maybe Fleming will be ready, maybe he won't; maybe he can play guard, maybe he can't. All questions to be figured out, but it will be a lot easier how to figure out how to take 4 players and fill 3 positions than to have the entire line in flux.

The only silver lining I see right now is, as Bedard says, a lot of what we're seeing is bad technique and fundamentals. Which is good in the sense that there is a lot of room for possible improvement, but bad in the sense that it doesn't reflect all that well on Scar's replacement.

It is because they are thinking too much instead of just reacting. Thus, the DL are getting a jump on them.

...
If Mankins was still here it wouldn't make an appreciable difference IMO. He was part of the interior O-line problems last year.

Mankins was the team's best OL last year. This myth that he was a problem really needs to die.

Incognito is a locker room cancer and more importantly the lowest possible form of a human being. We have been through this several times already but I rather see where we can go with what we have, than cheering for a person who sexually assaults women during golf tournaments just for fun.

You were cheering for a multiple murderer. Incognito is a choir boy in comparison. But you'll get your way on this one.

Hard to see him not being behaved, everything considered on top of the fact that he's a one year rental. He would come in and immediately stablize the OL so maybe Brady can get to the third read and beyond in his progressions without having to worry about being hit six times, sacked two others, and pressured countless others.

I'm not sure I follow. To me the stats seem to indicate very little if any difference between with Mankins or without.

My thought was simply that if the OL couldn't pass block last year and the Pats only got relief when pounding the rock in the running game, then losing their best run blocker suggests that they may not get relief at all.

I was cheering for someone whom no one cheering knew was a multiple murderer. When the facts started to become known I stopped.

I'm going to break my promise and bring this up again. Bring Incognito in now !

I don't know that you can lay it all at the feet of DaveDeG. They've got 2 tackles playing at positions they haven't played before (or at least not since they were grown men). To expect them to be successful with as little practice time as they've had is a tad hopeful. As for me, I'm simply hopeful that Cannon will improve considerably, as he is likely on the steep side of the learning curve and gaining lots of experience with each game. Devey, on the other hand, can try to improve from the comfort of the practice field.

I haven't read the entire thread, but I have to tell you, I was stoked when I read the headline to this thread. But insbtead of finally getting some real insight into what is going on with the OL and some real "breakdowns" on the bellistrator, I got more of the same general media drivel. Very disappointed. At this point Matt Chatham is the only guy who actually tells you something that isn't obvious.

Greg Bedard just watched the Patriots offensive all 22 tape.

He said Patriots film room this week must have been a blood bath.
Everyone outside of Connolly is awful.
Vollmer looks as it hes 50
He is all in on Stork starting for this team at center.

Koppen should be out there for us.

And you make this draconian pronouncement based on WHAT? Your godlike wisdom?

Based on reports of what players were saying, among other things. But feel free to be your same lovable self. Tell us all about how we're all getting our line play analysis wrong, and that the line has really been great.

It is way worse than I thought. On one run play Solder got pushed 5+ yards into the backfield which blew up the running play. On another play late off the line and the rusher went right by him. Too much back pedaling by the O-line which gives the edge to the bull rushers. Another play 4 Raiders vs 5 Pats O-linemen and clear victory with all 4 Raiders in the backfield around Tom Brady.

ive heard koppen a couple of times, hes good, much better then the usual nit wits that give analysis

I do now appreciate us having a great OL all those years and now regret taking it for granted like having a great one was a given.
  1. i don't think those O lines were great, i think they were adequate some years vey good. But great, no. Bradys quick thinking, quick release, and ability to move around in the pocket help those o lines to look great
