Darrelle Revis Rumors and Speculation

Signing Revis is doable, but sacrifices will have to be made...by both sides. If he really DOES want to come to New England, the Pats will still have to pony up a lot more cash than they're accustomed to spending on one player (other than Brady).

That said, Revis would be a huge coup for the Pats on defense. ACL injuries aren't the career death sentence they used to be. He's not an injury concern like Talib was.

I hope the Revis camp isn't using us for leverage with other teams. That would suck.

I hope this happens, that way the BB's head on a spike brigade can settle down.

revis is cut.......its time to show some love

Let em get riled up. At the end of the day, they look as foolish as Borges does in my signature quote.

Haha. No, i'm sure they would NEVER do that. Especially when Pats' arch rival is also dying to get him and have no CBs.

Source tells me the Eagles are expected to be among the teams in mix for UFA Darrelle Revis.

As expected, Buccaneers release Darrelle Revis | ProFootballTalk

The Buccaneers are doing business in bulk, but their biggest move is ending with a whimper.

The anticipated release of cornerback Darrelle Revis is now official, per Mike Garofolo of FOX Sports.

In the end, the Bucs weren’t going to get a trade with Revis unwilling to renegotiate his deal, despite many teams getting in touch.

Now, he’s free to negotiate his own new deal, with the Patriots figuring to be high on the list.

That makes for an expensive rehab assignment for the Bucs, who spent $16 million and two picks (last year’s 13th overall and this year’s fourth-rounder) for the privilege of a not-full speed Revis in a miscast role under Greg Schiano.

Pooping your pants is where it's really at.

I would um..excrete something else at the sight of the headline. No touching involved.....

16 would still be high for this season if the cap grows then so be it on the backend.

if the broncos sign revis, I will be annoyed

You do realize what kind of match-ups Revis can create, correct? He frees up Belichick and Patricia to do a whole lot of exotic stuff on the defense that we probably haven't seen since the dynasty years. Suddenly, you have the freedom to call a casino blitz or flood the middle of the rest of the field in coverage or pull a safety into the box to cover TE's or RB's out of the backfield. Yes, it's a 53 man team. But when you add Revis to the missing pieces returning on defense and he effectively shuts down half the field by himself, your defense gets that much stronger.

He doesn't shut down half the field by himself. He shuts down the best WR of the other team.

If he takes cap space away from the McCourty extension/Jimmy Graham or other TE to complement Gronk (our REAL deficit in 2013)/WR move/Safety etc..........

Once again, if there were no salary cap, I'd be in your camp, Kontra.

Do I want him here? You bet!

Do I want him here and they cannot extend McCourty, get a decent complementary TE, get a legit Safety, etc.? No.

Hopefully it's a different source than the guy who said the Pats were after Larry Fitzgerald.

Wait, seriously, is that an actual Borges quote?

Eh, he's in huge trouble anyway if it is just another 13 win season again.

If you aren't annoyed at the broncos by now, I can't help you

Would it make me a bad person if I wished for Manning to tear his ACL in the first game of the season?

Wondering if I should keep refreshing this page or not anticipate a signing in the immediate future...

Belichick knows they need to sign Revis in order to remain even remotely competitive in the AFC. It's gonna cost a lot, but this is the type of player that makes all those other salary-cap-decision worthwhile.
