Broncos sign Aqib Talib

I didn't say they won their final game.

It's just like the opposing fanbase claims the same thing to those who point out our continued success by competing at a high rate every season because we didn't win the last game.

We all know what happened vs SEA in the final game as the Seahawks gained momentum near halftime, but I wouldn't exactly claim that DEN isn't in a pretty good place on both sides of the ball.

The thought of continuing upon that success is only natural if you're leading the front office. Why anyone would think otherwise is beyond me? Let's call it like it is. They've been one of the more dominant teams in the NFL since Manning came there. Now, they've made a strong push to continue upon that success. Why wouldn't they try to do that?

Agreed. Ward,Talib, and possibly Ware makes Denver very close or equal to Seattle. The gap between the Pats and Denver just got wider. Any chance the Pats use this as a rebuilding year or do they keep the status quo?

TB must be furious.

I wish our organization went all-in for Brady like they do for Forehead. Brady certainly has his share of blame in these recent playoff losses, but my lord. Help the guy out a little bit.

Yeah, I didn't bother with all the weeping and gnashing of teeth, but I'd be pissed to see himm pogoing around on the bad hip for 26 million down the tubes.

I guess Broncos are going to hit the cellar in a few years. Putting all their chips on 2014 and the health of Talib. I don't even blame him for taking that. I'm guessing he's not averse to a little legal weed either.

I certainly don't blame Talib for taking that.

I'm happy and proud for the guy. He came here, turned his psyche around, was a good soldier and a great teammate, schooled the young guys and did everything that was asked of him.

Congratulations and thank you, Aqib.

Doesn't change the fact that the Broncos mortgaged their future on a guy who has a degenerative hip condition and couldn't last through the playoffs two years in a row.

That and the fact that Manning's arm just gets weaker every year, I think their end will come sooner than most think.

If Revis agrees to a pay cut the Pats are cool with why not send a 5th rounder to TB so they eliminate the risk of getting into a bidding war with a team like OAk that has about 60 mil in cap space...

Because if it works you can control the contract situation vs. getting into a bidding war with other teams.

Reports say Revis is not willing to restructure so he can be traded. You're OK paying him $16 million a year? Which doesn't really work if the Pats only have $15 million in cap space.

in 2-4 years..the broncos won't be in good shape....

No worries, I'm sure our cheap ownership will sign what's his name or the other guy for a one year "value" contract. :bricks::bricks::bricks:

Like Talib last year?

and zero rings.....

Look, kid, if you're going to write posts like that, just substitute "Redskins" for "Broncos".

They are the March Kings also!

Why so defensive. Denver has zero.rings. great. You can count.

They have a better team too. So you laugh at how much money someone else spent of their their own.

Goal is to win the superbowl as far as i know and i can look at things unbiased and know that Denver is closer to that goal.

But hey. Who cares about that. They spent too much money for our best defensive player is all.

If I were him I would not take a penny less cause I would not either want to play for OAK or CLE which were two reported players for him.

Unfortunately I think we have to be 100% certain Wilfork is willing to restructure before we can consider trading for and restructuring Revis. If we spend $10M on Revis (likely that we have to spend $12M though) that leaves us with only $6M for other FAs AND the draft. Without a Wilfork restructure, if we trade for Revis that means no Edelman or any other FA you want.

Wilfork's contract has put us in a really ****ty situation.

Then why are you worried the Pats will get in a bidding war with Oak for his services?

I have no problem cutting wilfork if hes not going to work with the team. I love him as a player but damn your over 30, prob overweight and coming off a major injury.

Wilfork is the 450 pound blob in the room

I wouldn't have given Talib a dollar over 7.5 million a year myself.

I agree that DEN will get much weaker, but under the circumstances I think they'd be pretty stupid not to try and build off of their success at the moment; especially considering that it's a known fact that Manning isn't going to be around too much longer.

People can talk about his noodle arm, but the way they're set up, they take full advantage of the talents that he does have.

This all said, I am still very glad that we don't sacrifice the future for the present, and I couldn't really care less about losing out on Talib. I would have preferred that he went to any other team other than DEN, however. I don't see much good coming out of obvious improvement from our biggest AFC rival, aside from the fact that they'll likely be in cap hell within the next 2-3 yrs.

Of course, the way the cap is going up etc--it may not be 1/2 as bad as some think just the same. We'll have to wait and see, but I'm glad that Belichick doesn't make dumb decisions like this move.

People can say what they want about BB, but he finds guys like Talib to play for us for a couple of million a year.

It's an established trend if you are an underpaid, and hungry player who wants to get paid big. Come to the Pats, bust your ass, work for cheap, get paid big and reap the rewards after.

We'll get ours. I have faith in BB. I'm not worried. I love how people ignore this team is what made those guys into double digit contracts. Talib wasn't playing like and certainly wasn't getting nearly $10 million before he became a Pat last time I checked. And he's a 6 year vet.

We play in a suck as division so the pats are always going to make the playoffs. The Jets, Dolphins, and Bills all suck and are a joke of a franchise.

Then why are you worried the Pats will get in a bidding war with Oak for his services?

Im not worried. Once he is released he has the power to sign with anyone. Its not gonna be Oakland imo, but I dunno money talks but I doubt he wants to play for back to back to back crappy teams.

Im sorry to say this but even with the addition of Revis we aren't even close to Denver. Denver added Talib, Ward, and will likely add Ware.

They will steamroll us and the rest of the AFC.

sad but true.....we'll just have to hold onto the "LITTLE GIANTS" mantra of 'if you lose 99 out of 100 that still leaves THAT ONE TIME that you did win'

If I made it my sig, would you be happier? The only thing is, I doubt it applies to other posts in other threads.....

But don't worry folks, we'll have plenty of cap space available when Chase Rettig takes over for Tom Brady down the road.

My point is that saying the same exact thing in seven different posts on the same thread, in just a few hours, doesn't make your "argument" any stronger. It just p***es people off.

problem with revis is he will want a new deal every yr he plays and hold out and such.

How is Denver closer to that goal?

Are the Redskins?

Kid, ask someone how the NFL works. The playoffs don't occur in March.

The situation looks bleak, but in all honesty, I feel less nervous about this coming year than I was about the last one. Looking forward to day 2, and the draft, rather than dreading it
