Alfonzo Dennard not expected to play against Broncos, maybe longer

There is no way to sugercoat this: we are screwed on defense. Our only real chance to contain that offense was Dennard completing shutting down the finesse Eric Decker while Talib handled Thomas. Now...

Decker will tear apart Arrington
Welker will tear apart Ryan
Manning will try to fool Harmon

Brady's going to need to score 42.

Well let's just forfeit.

You do realize the Broncos haven't scored 40 plus points on offense since October 6th? In fact in the last month the only times they scored over 30 points were:
  • 33 points against the Colts where ten points were later in the fourth when the Colts were protecting a 13 point lead
  • When they got 31 points in the fourth quarter against the Redskins where RGIII threw four picks on four consecutive drives

The Broncos' offense is living a lot on reputation right now. They are still a very good offense, but they are a beatable offense. They are doing a lot of max protection to protect Manning right now which is making their offense very inconsistent. They can be elite at times, but very ordinary many other times.

- Welker injury in week 17 a few years back
- Gronk injury for SuperBowl
- Gronk + Talib injured for AFCCG last year
- Mayo, Wilfork, Kelly, Vollmer done for year while Gronk, Talib, Amendola miss significant time

Andre Carter missing the end of the '11 SB run was unfortunate as was Harrison in '06 after the TENN game (wk 17). Then again the '08 team is probably 14 or 16 win team if Brady plays that year.

On the flip side, Law and Poole went down in 04 and Samule and Gay did a great job. Gay was the first UDFA to start a SB IIRC or at leas the first DB.

When did I say give up? I said our D is screwed. If you don't think those are major mismatches and that we'll need to score 40 to win then we just disagree.

I think his point was they didn't score 40 against SD, KC, Indy, jacksonville, and only did against Wash because of 4 picks.
That is their last 5 games. No, I don't think its a given at all that we have to score 40 evenif we are wounded.

As Vanderjerk would say, we are ripe for the picking.

They're pretty screwed if neither Dennard nor Talib can go. Throw in Gregory and the same non-existant pass rush we saw last night, and the Broncos might put a 50burger on us.

We have a way to go before you can consider us screwed. We all hate BB for kicking the tires on players with mid-level values but one upside to this is that it gives us great depth on the bench.

broncos defense isn't any better......neither is the colts

cincy is faring a little better, but their offense has 10 turnovers in the last 4 games

everyone has holes

Is the Pats defense any worse than the Jaguars' defense? The Jags don't even have an offense and they didn't give up 40.

The point is that the Broncos offense hasn't shown it is capable to put up 40 on anyone without the other team's offense turning over the ball on four consecutive drives since early in the season. What makes you think all of the sudden they are going to put up at least 41 points on Sunday with Manning nursing a high ankle sprain?

The Pats' defense is seriously hindered because of the injuries, but the Broncos' offense is living on reputation right now. I would say since halftime of the Dolphins' game, the Pats' offense has been better than the Broncos offense.

I don’t want to say the secondary is not a concern because obviously it is but realistically the Broncos are going to score points no matter who is out there and in my opinion the Patriots actually matchup better against the Broncos than they did the Panthers. We have struggled this season with teams that slow things down and grind and have good defenses particularly in the front seven.

The Broncos actually move quickly and are more finesse with not a very good defense, we will have to put up some points, but the good news is we will have a full array of offensive weapons with Gronkowski, Vereen, Ridley, Amendola, Dobson, Edelman and Thompkins all appearing to be as close to 100% as they’ve been in 2013.

If there's a game where our offense would need to limit possessions and grind it out, it's this game. Broncos front 7 is not stout like Carolina's.

Let's see what McD does.

For Brady to solidify his GOAT status this year, he is gonna have to carry us with the offense and hope that Arrington, talib and Gregory can cover up a patched defense to the Super Bowl.

The funny thing is, the past 3 Super Bowl champions, all were decimated mid season.....

Come ****** on. Does denver even have one major injury?

Our offense is going to have to be our defense. Obviously we need to put up points. But nice long drives with a good run game as well as passing to keep Manning off the field as much as possible is key to winning. We can not let Manning wear down this already depleted defense.

Thankfully, the Broncos defense is pretty bad so we shouldn't have issues scoring and keeping the ball out of Manning's hands. Our O-line really has to step up this game.

Even if we lose we'll still be 7-4. We'll just have to ride this season out and hope we get healthier by playoff time. Let's just hope our bad luck has run out and we start getting some good luck for the rest of the season.

Any chance of an early blizzard next Sunday? :D

isn't Clady out? yeah other than that, they are full strenght except teh qb's ankles

Sign Asomoghuh and blitz the **** out of Manning. Hit him on every down. :rocker:

Except Gregory has a cast on his hand and is out an undetermined amount of time, Talib couldn't finish the game last night and we have no idea if he'll play or not (or how long even if he does play), and Arrington has been in and out of the past 3 games with missed time in all of them. On top of that Dennard is out for at least the DEN game, if not even longer.

Your comment should read "hope that Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon, Marquice Cole" can cover up a patched defense." At least for the immediate anyway, and then even after that it's a crapshoot with Talib and the way that injuries have plagued this team.

That stink he was starting to get hot. But we have good depth there so ill think we will manage just fine until he gets back.
