So, by your logic...

The Colts have downgraded their RB position. - Addai was our top back, Dillon was your top back, Rhodes averaged 3.4 ypc, you can't downgrade much from that.

Are you trying to tell me DeDe Dorsey is better than Dominic Rhodes?

The Colts have downgraded their WR position. - By cutting a guy who didn't even play last year?

Are you trying to tell me Devin Aromashodu and Brian Hare are better than Brandon Stokley and Terrence Wilkins?

The Colts have downgraded their TE position. - How?

Is Ben Utecht on the Colts' roster as of March 6, 2007?

The Colts have downgraded their OG position. - How?

Are you trying to tell me Sam Wilder and Dylan Gandy are better than Ryan Lilja and Jake Scott?

The Colts have downgraded their DT position. - By cutting a guy who missed most of the season after a serious car accident?

The Colts have downgraded their OLB position. - Freddy Keiaho is an upgrade from June. June couldn't tackle a poodle.

But somehow June managed to start 16 more games than Keiaho. Magically. Somehow June managed to record 142 tackles last season. Somehow you were able to put a positive spin on this Colts decision. Commendable.

The Colts have downgraded their CB position. - Harper will be 33, His backups are Marlin Jackson and Kelvin Hayden, They are better than he is.

But somehow Nick Harper and Jason David were magically able to start 31 more games than Jackson and Hayden.

The Colts have downgraded their S position. - By letting go a guy who didn't even play last year?

Are you trying to tell me Norman LeJeune is better than Mike Doss?

Thanks for playing.

Let me leave you with a parting shot:

Some things are not as they appear.

To say McFarland couldnt start on the pats is absurd. lol He could start ahead of atleast Warren. he was the savior of the run defense during the playoff run. Id take a Freeney, Wilfork , McFarland, Seymour d-line in a second. They would be scary good.

Please. Just please. Stop before you lose all of your credibility.

Ty Warren should have gone to the Pro Bowl over Seymour. That is the belief of Pats Fans and Boston writers alike.

Huh? Mathis had almost twice as many sacks as Freeney. Even I know some players command double teams and make other players look better. Freeney is a difference maker, Mathis benefits from him being on the opposite side. If not for injuries Seymour would make Warren look average. I dont need permission for crediblity, I watch football religiously. Oh did I mention I use to be a coach for a high school team here in Indiana? MMMkay?

Why are you trying to change your story?

You said McFarland, not Mathis.

Still, are you seriously trying to compare the sack rates of a 3-4 DE and a 4-3 DE? Please. Just get a clue.

And apparently you missed the whole "I played/coached in High School" boat:

Where did my story change? Id take a Freeney, McFarland, Wilfork, Seymour d-line anyday.

Last I check. McFarland has 2 rings. Played on one of the most dominate Defenses in modern age in Tampa. Freeney is on pace to smash the sack record. Saying McFarland isnt a difference maker is laughable.

You're an absolute JOKE. Keep backing up and ducking. I'll just keep on watching.

To quote you: "To say McFarland couldnt start on the pats is absurd. lol He could start ahead of atleast Warren."

Therefore, you believe Anthony McFarland was a better player in 2006 than Ty Warren.

That, buddy, is pathetic.

I know the difference between a 3-4 and 4-3. Were not talking X, Os. We're talking talent wise.

Warren has twice as many tackles as McFarland in the past 4 years. Warren was NOT even a starter in 2003, either.

McFarland barely played half the season in 2002.

The entire "fact" that you suggest - that you'd rather have McFarland on a (conveniently 4-3) line instead of Warren - makes you look like a complete idiot.

Yes, I would take McFarland over Warren. Im not ducking anything. The Mathis reference was to make a point. Its not always about stats. You probably think Mathis is better then Freeney then? Oh and Freeney had 5.5 sacks in the regular season. Mathis had 9.5...Thank you. Here is the link http://www.nfl.com/teams/stats/IND

"To make a point?"

You mean to cover your coward ass, right?

You said McFarland would start on the Pats instead of Warren.

I said that was a pathetic untruth.

You then proceeded to compare Robert Mathis to Dwight Freeney to somehow make your point that Anthony McFarland was better than Ty Warren.

Huh?

Again not talking X and Os. But if I must in a base 4-3 I would start. Freeney, McFarland, Wilfork, Seymour. So, would you start Warren in a 4-3 over Freeney and Mathis on passing downs?

I am not as confident as some Colts fans. Downright worried actually. I really don't feel the swagger.

Are you trying to tell me DeDe Dorsey is better than Dominic Rhodes?

Are you trying to tell me the Colts can't find a backup RB to average at least 3.4 ypc? Dominic Rhodes hadn't played in 5 years until this season. He averaged 3.4 ypc. He's had one 100 yard game in six seasons.

Are you trying to tell me Devin Aromashodu and Brian Hare are better than Brandon Stokley and Terrence Wilkins?

That would be Standeford and Moorehead. Anyone is better than a guy with a blown out achilles who can't even play. Anyone is better than nothing. Wilkens was mainly a returner. I'm not sure if he even got much practice time at receiver.

Is Ben Utecht on the Colts' roster as of March 6, 2007?

Is he on another roster? He will probably be back but Bryan Fletcher is just as good. You probably saw him catch the 40 yard pass on the game winning drive in the AFC Championship game.

Are you trying to tell me Sam Wilder and Dylan Gandy are better than Ryan Lilja and Jake Scott?

Lilja and Scott were both tendered.

But somehow June managed to start 16 more games than Keiaho.

Keiaho was a rookie.

Magically. Somehow June managed to record 142 tackles last season.

He probably missed 140.

Somehow you were able to put a positive spin on this Colts decision. Commendable

After seeing Keiaho play last year almost every Colt fan alive wanted Keiaho to play LAST year. Think Bob Sanders at LB. It was the thing that probably pissed Colts fans off the most - that he wasn't playing last year.

But somehow Nick Harper and Jason David were magically able to start 31 more games than Jackson and Hayden.

That's because they were 1st and 2nd year players. They obviously showed over the course of the season and with huge plays in the playoffs and Super Bowl that they are more than ready. I mean, even if Harper were to come back, he wouldn't be starting. David was tendered.

Are you trying to tell me Norman LeJeune is better than Mike Doss?

That would be Giordano, and yes, he is. Mike Doss blew out his knee anyway. Anything is better than nothing. And Doss was terrible. Even Dexter Reid was better than Doss in the game he played last season.

Yes, McFarland would start over Warren on my team.JMHO Sounds like youre trying to provoke a fight. Youre the one throwing out stats. Admit it, you were wrong about Mathis not having almost twice as many sacks. Anyways on a parting note. Im not a coward. Ill admit if Im wrong. I said nothing to be wrong about. I offered my opinion, Id take McFarland and be happy. You can keep Warren and be happy.

A pancake could start over Wilfork. :)

Sincerely,

Jeff Saturday

Thank you for proving my point.

Basically, your point was that established NFL veterans were somehow "worse" than recent rookies you drafted.

You see, the Patriots now, in many cases, have BOTH.

They lost Corey Dillon, who was declining, yet Maroney is a year older. By your logic, that's NOT a downgrade.

They lost Daniel Graham, yet Thomas is a year older (and they picked up Brady, who is a better blocker than Graham).

They most certainly upgraded the WR position, and look to continue that (see: Stallworth, Dante; Moss, Randy)

They most certainly upgraded the LB position. Thomas over Alexander is like Manning over Sorgi. It's not even close.

And were you actually serious with that "Thomas wasn't the best player on a Ravens defense who lost to the Colts in 4 straight games" 'logic?'

C'mon, that was a joke. So you're trying to tell me, that if some team added Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison in 2005, after the Colts lost countless straight to the Pats, that they wouldn't make an impact? PLEASE.

Most WRs in the league couldn't start on the Colts, save possibly a Holt or Johnson.

On the flip side, I wouldn't say that, if the Colts got, say, Julian Peterson, he wouldn't make an impact because (at this point), he wouldn't start on the Pats. PLEASE.

Do you see the absurdity of your logic?

I was wrong about Mathis because I misread it as "Mathis had twice as many sacks as Warren." (Because that might have actually made sense).

And Mathis didn't. He had 2 more sacks than Warren. Isn't it kind of funny that a 3-4 DE had only 2 less sacks than a 4-3 DE?

Compare these these DL stats from 2005 to 2006:

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/dl2005.php

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/dl.php

Notice something? The Colts got considerably worse in both run stopping and pass rushing, while the Pats improved in both categories.

Wonder why?

Kokomodave, I respect your opinion, but Ty Warren played like an All-Pro last season. He was a force against the run, was able to rush the passer, and ended the season with 84 tackles (as per NFL.com, however the coaches have credited him with more). He did all of this in a system and scheme that generally speaking has DEs that tie up blockers and almost never rack up sacks and other stats. Booger McFarland is a good player, and had a pretty big difference on your D in the playoffs, but (and this is my opinion), he cannot lay a finger on Warren. However, each player fits almost perfectly for each team.

Yankees/Colts, your logic is absurd. According to your logic the loss of Rhodes should be devastating to the Colts offense, despite what he did in the regular season. Without Rhodes, the Colts don't go on many of those drives (to fieldgoals) late in the Ravens game. Rhodes had a spectacular postseason and especially Super Bowl. Losing him is a downgrade at the position. After all, Freddy Keiaho is an upgrade because of his performance in the postseason, despite doing nothing in the regular season.

I am not as confident as some Colts fans. Downright worried actually. I really don't feel the swagger.

Not because I'm a Pats fan but finally there is an honest post from a Colts fan who is smart enough to realize how difficult it is to compete in this league, nevermind win back-to-back SB's. Also a Colts fan who doesn't feel the need to come over here and spew all the reasons they think their team is better just because they're suddenly feeling intimidated. Kudos on that.
Parity dictates that theoretically anyone can win a SB; true leadership, foresightedness, talent (among other things) are what dictate a sustained reign of terror.
That said,I wouldn't feel so down about it just yet-lots of things can happen in 16 games, and getting to the SB sometimes takes more than just talent and coaching. Sometimes you get breaks along the way, quirky things that may happen which can put your team in a better position towards the end, etc.
I still see the Colts as a threat and they are the sitting Champions, but obviously the Pats are looking very strong right now--and very hungry.
