Brian hoyer just got named the starter for the browns.

Good for him.

I wish him all the best.

That will be a special moment for him. Imagine watching Browns games as a kid and now your starting one. :D

Josh Morgan just re-joined the team. I have him starting on my fantasy team. Hopefully Hoyer targets him early and often. :D

And good for Hoyer. I expected his shot to happen a lot sooner than this, but at least he's getting it.

Cardinals were stupid to let him go IMO.

If he just manages the game and doesn't throw any stupid picks, he's an improvement on Weeden.

Good luck to the guy, hope he grabs the chance with both hands.

I'm a Browns fan for the day, go Hoyer!

That's great for him. Hope he lasts there, too. It would be an interesting week if he's still starting when CLE comes to visit Foxboro later this year.

I had Josh Gordon starting until I read this news. No way I'm relying on Hoyer to get it to Gordon deep.

Jordan Cameron will probably keep on pace though.

He won't go deep, but Gordon (not Morgan, not sure why I originally posted that) should be able to get open underneath and in the intermediate areas. I'm 0-2 because of a lack of production out of both Ridley and Foster, so I need all the help I can get.

This is just because Weeden injured, correct?
Not really his shot at the job, but his shot as a backup to start a game.

Tell that to Drew Bledsoe. :)

He didn't get "named the starter" as in for the foreseeable future. He's just starting this week because Weededn is injured. If he lights it up then I'm sure they will let him start another game or so but that hasn't been determined yet.

OK Brian Hoyer is the next Tom Brady:rolleyes:

compared to brandon 30 years old in his second year weeden? yes!

Hoyer is 2+ years younger then weeden, and weeden has shown nothing that says hes the answer for the browns.

I'll be pulling hard for Hoyer this week. If he plays well and gets the browns the W, you better believe he'll start next week.

Best of luck to him.

As for most non-geriatric backup QBs -- if he plays well enough, I'm sure he'll get a starting shot, either now with the Browns, or soon elsewhere.

(Note: The most "geriatric" players in NFL history were still younger than I am. However, it's possible that my knees are in better shape than theirs ...)

Further, Hoyer doesn't have to be the next great quarterback for the Browns. All he has to do is out-perform Weeden, which isn't out of the question. I don't really see how an argument can really be made of anything here. Whether he's just subbing in for an inconsistent quarterback because said quarterback is injured or said quarterback is benched, this is Hoyer's shot. But, then again, I have the poster you quoted on ignore so I'm not sure what the debate is outside of the post you quoted.

He's just keeping the seat warm for Mallett. :D
