Something smells fishy to me:

1) Rumors swirling about Lloyd being a bad locker room player and on his way out. Should give Welker some leverage in negotiations as the only reliable holdover at WR?

2) Welker bolts after a sub-par offer from the Pats. Any leverage due to Lloyd didn't help much!

3) Pats sign Amendola, another McDaniels recommendation. But how can they have such confidence in McDaniels's recommendations if Lloyd is flaming out?

Add to the above the extension of Hooman -- another McDaniels guy -- and I now think its very unlikely that Lloyd walks. I think for whatever reason BB is totally OK with Josh's personnel decisions in the offense. Broncos are doing well at WR (before Welker) so maybe he's right. I just can't see McDaniels sending Lloyd packing now.

Was the Lloyd rumor a smokescreen to draw Welkers negotiating team out into the open? Is the locker room stuff about Lloyd bogus?

Is Lloyd staying now?

I think the Lloyd deals was bogus. I think Lloyd will get better if he is higher up as a #2-3 receiver. I think this O will be just as good but our D is our weakness now.

IMO he HAS to stay now. A must in my eyes now that welker is gone. maybe another year in our system will improve him

I think his bonus kicks in on Friday or Saturday. We will find out then. No way they cut him after he gets his bonus.

How did Lloyd flame out? He had 74 catches for 911 yards and 4 TDs. That is the best production from a Patriots WR not named Moss or Welker since Deion Branch in 2005.

Lets say if they cut him....are we screwed...becasue i think we are. What if amendola gets hurt again with no real #1 WR...talk about 3-4 yard passes every play. They drop him they save 3 M...do the make a trade for someone? a #1 WR? Or do they really think gronk and AH will play all 16 games

He couldn't stay on his damn feet. But we have no depth at WR.

Absolutely ... can you get a better WR for 3 million ... No.

But never say never ... stay tuned.

Maybe a poor choice of words on my part. He was certainly productive, but id still consider a key veteran getting bounced for "personality issues" a bit of a disaster.

My main point being -- maybe the personality issues are not true? If they are true how can you trust so many other mcdaniels players?

The only way I would be okay with Lloyd being shown the door at this point is if the Pats were to open up some serious negotiations with Jennings. Either way, with Lloyd or Jennings, the team should still use no later than a second on a WR.

Does anyone else find the panic caused by Free Agency as amusing as I do?

Even if Lloyd is here, Amendola getting hurt would screw us over. He's not a #1. I wanted him gone but with the FA I expect him to stay put.

Do you really think the pats would offer jennings 10+mill a year after signing amendola (mr glass to a long term deal)?

Well when your #1 receiver and leader receiver in pats history leaves..you expect panic becasue they signed a guy who from what we know..can't hold welkers jock..that may change...i hope it does

If the Pats could get Jennings, I would have no problem letting Lloyd go. Jennings is an upgrade over Lloyd assuming he is healthy.

According the Rotoworld, the Packers' $10 million a year looks to be off the table and Jennings is looking at potentially a $7 million a year contract:

Sources tell the Green Bay Press-Gazette that the Packers are "strongly in the running" for free agent WR Greg Jennings.

Jennings has seen his market collapse. According to a Tuesday report, the Pack previously offered him a deal averaging $10M per season. Now he's expected to come in somewhere in the $7M per year range. The Vikings are also in the mix, but if the all money is equal, we'd expect him to return to Green Bay. Staying home with Aaron Rodgers would be a no-brainer.

It depends on the way the contract is structured. But if they part ways with Lloyd then they could most certainly make a move for Jennings. They have to replace Welker's production and that's one way of doing it.

Absolutely. That's why I floated the idea.

Don't you think some info would have been at least leaked if the pats were interested?
