Something smells fishy to me:
1) Rumors swirling about Lloyd being a bad locker room player and on his way out. Should give Welker some leverage in negotiations as the only reliable holdover at WR?
2) Welker bolts after a sub-par offer from the Pats. Any leverage due to Lloyd didn't help much!
3) Pats sign Amendola, another McDaniels recommendation. But how can they have such confidence in McDaniels's recommendations if Lloyd is flaming out?
Add to the above the extension of Hooman -- another McDaniels guy -- and I now think its very unlikely that Lloyd walks. I think for whatever reason BB is totally OK with Josh's personnel decisions in the offense. Broncos are doing well at WR (before Welker) so maybe he's right. I just can't see McDaniels sending Lloyd packing now.
Was the Lloyd rumor a smokescreen to draw Welkers negotiating team out into the open? Is the locker room stuff about Lloyd bogus?
