Eli over Brady?

what struggle are u suggesting? This year?

because the defense was putrid. When your defense gives up 36 points to Seattle, is that not saying something?

Our defense was worse and so was Green Bay's. New Orleans' defense was comparable to yours too. Why were the Patriots, Packers and Saints a combined 41-7 while the Giants had to fight to get into the postseason? I think it's pretty evident what the common denominator in the success of those teams was. Why weren't the Giants capable of replicating said success?

did i say 2007 made him elite? Could u quote where i said that?

Right after you quote where I said that Super Bowl 42 didn't really happen, which was what I was responding to with post about 2007 not making Eli elite.

how do u own them? your 1-2 in ur last 3 vs them and u lost this year?

With Brady what's the record against the Steelers in the last 3 years?

I said multiple times overall for a full season I'd take Brady. Coming down to one game in the superbowl, its a coin flip.

If you said that about Tebow and Manning, then sure it's a coin flip. I mean personally, I would take Tebow, but whatever.

Brady and Manning... not so much buddy. I would choose Brady.

FWIW, Dilfer said yesterday since week 14 Manning has been playing the best at his position.

I remember when one of the Brady 6 flashed after replacing Kurt Warner in St. Louis and for like a year or so there were those (including one knucklehead who used to post here) who swore he was a better QB than Brady. Lots of guys have their moments. Talk to me after one of them has had a decades worth of them consistently.

Eli has played just 2 seasons less as a starter than Brady, although he is 4 years younger. But he'll have to play until he's 50 if Brady hangs around until 40 to have a shot at even approaching Brady's accomplishments. Even if he wins more rings eventually. Because it's not just about rings or just about stats. GOAT discussions are about amassing both. Brady is in that discussion. Superbowl MVP's, NFL MVP's, position record holders or breakers. The other Manning is clinging to a slot in it by his fingernails for those very reasons.

Eli is knocking on the door of elite - 8 years into his career. :woohoo:

Brady 10 year starter 124/35 63.8%CR 300TD/115INT 96.4QBR 16/5 playoffs

Manning 8 year starter 69/50 58.4%CR 185TD/129INT 82.1QBR 6/3 playoffs

This is why I wasn't keen on a rematch. Although because the media are all about inventing storylines, I have no doubt had Alex Smith been able to get his head out of his ass 2 weeks in a row he would have been well on his way to eliminating the Brady to Montana comparisons. :bricks:

actually I did multiple times.

It was a combination of having a line that got him killed this year, a tough schedule, and a defense that was PUTRID.

If your going to somehow suggest that lineplay doesn't attribute to a QBs success, i'd have to ask why u really think u lost the 07 superbowl.

I don't want to hear becuase of THE CATCH when THE GREATEST OFFENSE EVER scored 14 points

Tom Brady had a worse defense and was sacked more often than Eli. Same with Aaron Rodgers.

It's a shame we have to settle for a QB that gets us to the Superbowl at a paltry 50% rate of the years he plays. Pathetic.

The mediots are doing what they always do. They can't look more than 2 inches in front of their own noses.

Is Eli a better QB than Tom when you look at their entire careers? No way.
Did Eli have a better 2011 season? Nope.
Did Eli have a better Sunday, January 22? Yes he did.

So the mediots who can't remember anything past the most recent game are all jumping on the Eli bandwagon.

I believe Brady once compared ESPN to MTV without the music which = BS. He also called the analyst "former players" which in a nice way = Has-beens.

Not that I ever questioned it but... He was right.

Oh, you're one of those "my eyes tell me more" type.

if thats how you want to interpret that, by all means.

But I was referring to taking everything into account...

style of offense, strength of schedule, coaching, being clutch, Qbs who get rattled...

...and who happens to be the quarterback for your team:rolleyes: I guess that works both ways:)

Trent Dilfer was 5-1 in the playoffs

So, under the "Eli wins" argument.... and AGAIN

Dilfer > Eli

so in reality - what makes Tom Brady so great then?

Its not wins, its not rings(cuz thats a team thing), and yards isn't that big of a thing, its only TD to INT ratio? Is that what defines THomas?

Wins, 4th quarter comebacks, MVPs, SB MVPs, 50 yard TD season, throwing only 4 picks in a season

I don't know, his pocket presence, his accuracy, his decision making, his demeanor, his leadership.

Oooooooo, we got a whole bunch of this over on the Packers board.

Eli over Rodgers, Eli is more clutch than Rodgers. etc. etc. Never mind what Rodgers did last year. That wasn't clutch enough.

Yo....Eli has a long way to go to be considered in Brady's league given the sheer weight of Brady's accomplishments. Brady, Brees and Rodgers absolutely led their teams to top seeds. Eli came on strong near the end of the season, I'll give him that.

But comparing Eli to Brady now is kind of silly.

i dont think i've ever had a worse internet experience than the brain powers over at the packers board.

You know, most people here think Eli is a good quarterback and is certainly on the rise. He is definitely hot right now and earned a lot of admiration for the beating he took in SF. But because we're saying he hasn't paved his way to Canton yet and is not in the GOAT discussion at the moment, you're all bent out of shape.

Why?

I don't thin khes paved his way to canton yet either. Its just a football discussion.

But i do think two rings iwll put him over the top

What the hell is this world coming too. Eli Over Tom, words can not describe how ridiculous this is. Can't believe that people are actually defending this WOW.

Well, seeing as you are counting a loss in 2008, when Matt Cassel was at QB, I don't see why counting games played previous to 2007 is absurd, especially when considering Pittsburgh's players might have changed, but the systems in place are pretty much the same, particularly on defense.

true I forgot about Cassell being out

but still theres no relevence of the two teams right now. How many of the same players do both of u guys have combined from 06?

Eli isn't even better than Peyton... and I'm sure most QB's would have great if not better seasons if they had Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, and Mario Manningham as wide receivers...
