Bill will go for the AFC East record, passing THIS guy...

The interesting back story drama for us now is where does Josh choose to go. Not sure money will be a motivator. There is a greater shot at immediate and consistent success here with Tommy but more career upside if he can right the ship in KC. And what will this do to Bill and Scott's relationship (and RAC's) because they need him a lot more than we do. Not sure Scott can survive much beyond the next year or two without a major or sustained turnaround, and Matt - who is a decent starter - is a system QB (as opposed to Tom who just happened to be the ideal QB for this system) who could flourish in this system except he's about as screwed up as he could be after the Haley to Charlie to Haley rollercoaster ride he's endured for the last 3 seasons. And he's set up to be the first fallguy exiting just ahead of his GM if they struggle again because fans there never appreciated him.
Good points Mo. You sum it up pretty well. There are just as many reasons for Josh to go to KC than there are for him to come back to NE. RAC isn't going to be HC long term either. Although I think JMD needs a few more years under BB's "shadow", he might not think so.

BTW- there's another former Pats assistant with OC experience out there, and he will be available soon. I wonder if Josh took the KC opportunity, would BB give a shot to Brian Dabol, or has the Mangini stink still on him.

We just need to bring Hobbs back and allow a certain three letter ex-poster access for a few days and then watch the fireworks.

My one hope for Josh if he does come back is that he learns to be a bit more flexible.

Damn, Tice is gone, and i doubt the jets will grant permission to talk to Schottie. Unless they can somehow convince Ryan Leaf to sign on I will have to settle for McDaniels.

We could see BB & Kraft looking to move him to Head of Football Operations or Team President w J Kraft being CEO of the Operation, when Brady retires. JMD steps in with a solid org and foundation in place and mentors Brady's successor. That could be a plan.

I don't think that is the plan, but the Josh part could be an option. Just too soon for it because of BOB's apparent need to land a HC job somewhere, anywhere, this year. I don't forsee Bill going the Parcell's/Polian route when the time comes. He ran from being the HC in that kind of toxic situation himself and he tends to try not to do certain things his mentor did that he didn't ever like. I think when he goes he will take a short sabatical and write and fish and spend quality time with his family and then look for another challenge in coaching, but not in the NFL. I always figured if it was football it would be Annapolis if the timing was right. He loved that place and those midshipmen because of the culture of accountability. But it could be lacrosse, too...:D

I would be stunned if Dabol came back. Have you read "War Room" ? In addition to the Mangini stench, he was a d!ck (so says the book, my choice of word though) on the way out of New England. Belichick doesn't forgive and forget. I suspect you are more likely to replace O'Brien than Dabol is.

Never Ever gunna happen Man

A propos of nothing, it's also worth pointing out that in NE he could "reunite" with his college QB Nick Caserio. . . .

[It's still hard to believe JMcD was a wide receiver in college.]

No and it shouldn't but it does make me laugh to think of the chaos that would follow.

BB is getting older. BB has said he has no intention to coach forever. Josh McD was the next HC in waiting for NEP when he left, apparently b/c he was worried it would be too long before BB retired. Bringing him back will be with the idea he would be BB's replacement either this year or in 1-2 years after that.

I was actually kind of pleased with Hoodie Jr's return, but now that you've raised the BB retirement angle, I'm a little depressed. :bricks:

Dabol has both impatience and the Mangini stink to overcome. Bill wouldn't even give him the QB's coach job when Josh ascended. He's still on the staff in Miami pending their coaching hunt, but I hear the credit for Moore is going to their QB's coach and not Dabol. He'd be a backup for Scott for sure since the Mangini stink didn't resonate on him as much as Bill and RAC and Mangini remained close throughout. I could even see Eric there as RAC's DC with a shot at that HC in waiting position.

The other guy whose name escaped me last night is Jeff Davidson, who was supposed to be ahead of Josh on the depth chart when Charlie left. But he too was passed over by Bill in favor of Josh and left with RAC as a result, and I don't think Bill was down with that and he hasn't flourished in the aftermath. He was RAC's OL coach and Asst. HC and after RAC got canned Fox's OC in Carolina but he didn't take him to Denver and this year he was an asst. OL coach under Tice in Minnesota who just promoted Tice to their OC position...

Bill and Josh have a good relationship, when he was fired in Denver, Bill spoke to him and told him to call his parents first. my Guess is that Bill has spoke to and felt out Josh, IMO Bill would not risk the information getting out that they called for permission unless he spoke to josh and got assurances...

thats just my theory!

I think getting Josh back would be the best scenario of all. And, if somehow, Lloyd comes along too, oh my!

My biased opinion is Josh would be better with grand success here than the risk of failure in KC. Sure he's with Bill and Tommy but future NFL HC jobs won't hold that against him. With a bad ending in Denver and a bad one year in St. Louis he can't really afford a bad tenure at his next job.

Just for once I wish BB was on that idiotic Twitter network, We'd likely see this...

"All your OC are belong to us!"

Best case scenario is getting back Josh, and Piolli making the mistake of not giving RAC the HC job in KC and getting him back too!

No Lloyd please.

All set with people who think theyre above the team.

This should be a poll question:

How many of you would want Josh McDaniels to replace Bill O'Brien for the next game?
