This is more true than anything! The Chargers defense has solid players at every position and is better than the pats defense. Meanwhile the Chargers offense is just as deadly as the Patriots. The Chargers should romp!:rocker:

Now I remember why I hate the Chargers again. Seeing davey around being intelligent makes you forget how many ignorant trolls root for that team.

Your offense is just as deadly? then why did Pats score 80 points more last season? And are already 2-touchdowns better this season?

Sproles was probably our worst match-up next to Gates and he is gone.

Meanwhile, your midget safeties against the Pats TE's is probably about as bad a match-up as you could hope to get.

Begone foolish troll with the lame-ass screen name.

Hello Pats fans!
I'm a chargers fan can't help it born and raised. I like to read other fans forums because you can get some good info on teams for handicapping games. I've been reading this forum for some time now.
I am not here to be a troll. I am a homer when it comes to my chargers but I am also a long time NFL fan. I respect what the patriots have done and are capable doing.
I will tell you I am very excited to see Brady going against the top rated pass defense last year. For me its a good mesuring stick for the chargers D.
Reading the posts I think for the most part Pats fans are underrating the chargers D.
Last year they lead the NFL giving up 177 yards per game through the air.
They held 5 teams to under 200 total yards for the game last year. ( Pats being one 179.)
Some like to chalk it up to short fields because of chitty ST but they did have 47 sacks steelers led with 48.
I keep reading about how chitty McNabb is having 39 yds passing but I think the chargers should be giving some credit. They can only play who is front of them. The second half of the game Minn didn't reach mid-field.
I hear you guys giving your D a flyer for the garbage time which I agree with. But the chargers D gets no credit for there performance. Heck Miami was 30th in the league scoring last year. And if you look at Henne and McNabb numbers from last year McNabb was better although not good.
I am not here trying to pimp my chargers to win this game as understand how good NE is. I have read alot posts of people trying to say miami's d is better or as good. The chargers present a matchup problem for NE and Brady and BB understand this.
This will be the first of 2 good games these teams will play against each other. Lets hope it is injury free.

See, now that's the kind of opposing fan that's welcome here. He's confident, of course, and he should be, but he argues his point utilizing real football analysis.

I agree ....this is the type of posts ..we like.......not smack...

A lot pf good points. Of course the division AFC West, playing Oakland, Denver and Kansas City twice per year is not the toughest schedule. Playing Miami, Buffalo and the Jets twice a year is a bit tougher at this point. It will be a good test on Sunday to see if the Pats can play well against SD defense.

the chargers are due against the patriots. i hate to say it, but they've been snake bitten against the pats so many times. hope i'm wrong.

Welcome to the board! I agree that it'll be a tough match; no outcome would especially shock me here. Ultimately, TBH, I think it will come down to which team's TEs make more plays, and they both have the personnel to make that happen. Here's to a good game, and on a side note, if any of you Charger fans are in Long Beach, feel free to drop me a PM if you want to chug some beers, watch some football, and get some good-natured trash talk going.

gotta say that I think in the end, it comes down to mettle. SD plays in the west with very few teams who will go at tooth and nail. At least from the few games that I have watched. The AFC east games are often brutal as both teams go full bore at each other. The Fins and Bills always seem to step it up against the Pats and we don't even have to mention what happens when the Jets get involved.

that being said, nothing still comes close to the steelers/ravens games which are a o-holds bar cage match.

Freudian slip? ;)

What's up Pats Fans!

Long time (long-suffering) SD fan here, just thought I would drop in to see what all the fuss is about and throw in my 2 cents.

Although I think SD ~can~ win it and have shown they can compete with the Patriots I'm certainly not going to expect them to waltz into NE and make it look easy, in fact I would be pretty surprised if they come out with a W.

Also, the SD fans who think losing Castillo is no big deal are being truthful in that they really do think that. They are wrong, it is a big deal, but many SD fans think he's no good because he doesn't put up big numbers. I think he is probably the Charger's most consistent lineman and a sure-tackler and like Bob Marley said, you never miss the water until the well runs dry.

Bottom line, if the Chargers can minimize the stupid plays they have a decent chance to score the upset. If they put the ball on the ground (again) then they have no chance.

I've been over there a few times in the last few days. I thought most posters were pretty cool. But it's amazing how much a lot of teams fans put into beating the Pats. Maybe the NFL should give out a ring for any team that beats the Pats.. GEEZ!

Nice to see an honest fan. It will be a very good game I'm sure. Two good teams playing. I for one am sorry for Indy without Manning. Not cause I like him, but lets face it. Its the competition that we all love in this game. Brady v/s Rivers will be exciting no doubt. And yes, no injurys please. welcome to the board.

Chargers fans are delusional. Pats will win by at least 2 TDs.

Also...

In general about SD fans: There are probably more transplants per native in San Diego than most NFL cities. As a result, you have a small group of hardcore fans and a huge number of people with loyalties to other NFL teams. With the "LT Effect" you had a bunch of people hop on the bandwagon in the past several years. They believed the 'most talented team in football' myth (which might have been true for 2006 and 7/8ths of 2007) and can be pretty boisterous (although in SD boards all they do is complain about AJ and Norv) about it.

The truth is the Chargers can be a pretty good football team but they haven't really done anything ever (at least since the merger) so talk about them under-acheiving is spot-on. I am a die-hard though so I'm feeling like this is their year. I like the attitude that Spikes and Sanders bring to the locker room and I think Rivers has not reached his potential yet.

It's killing me that I have a fall-ball little league game to coach at 4PM (EST) but I'm expecting to catch the last third of an awesome game.

No they wont.

That's one thing that made me cringe about the Miami game. They were down two touchdowns with several minutes left, and the Dolphins offense completely gave up, wasted time on the clock, excepted defeat. You will never ever ever see that from Rivers... and Pats fans can say the same about Brady.

This game will come down to the final possession.
