Re: Next season's schedule

I fixed your post for you. :(

[And don't forget the Pats lost Mike Wright after last year's PIT game.]

I believe Ty Law's season came to an end against the Steelers in 2004. There were others as well, but I can't remember them all off the top of my head.

Long time no talk, Seb..

Yea, I come around every so often just to see what you guys are talking about. Sometimes I post, but not quite as frequently these days. Hopefully around draft time I'll be able to whip up a list of prospects.

Re: Next season's schedule

Have we ever played Indy at Foxboro during the regular season in this millenium?
Oh, please! Only in 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

It is amazing how quickly people forget the run where we played Indy at home 3 or 4 years in a row.

Re: Next season's schedule

i think the deal, for some arcane reason that i don't pretend to understand, is that the teams play three years in a row in one place and the next three in the other...so, after next year, it's back to foxboro for three years.
Should each team return to the division leadership and stay there indefinitely, they would each play an equal number of games home-and-away every 6 years. Under the current alignment/scheduling scheme, it is literally impossible to schedule all such pairings of teams (matching positions among the divisions) home and away each suceeding season, but it does even out in the long run.

2003 - at Indy
2004 - vs Indy
2005 - vs Indy
2006 - vs Indy
2007 - at Indy
2008 - at Indy

notes:

  • Starting in 2003, the Pats will ALWAYS play at Indy every 6th year, and starting in 2006, they'll ALWAYS play Indy at home every 6th year, regardless of their respective standings within each their divisions the prior season, so long as the current scheduling scheme is in place. This is due to the pre-scheduled round-robin between the divisions that occurs every 3rd season.
  • For all the other seasons, they will play each other only if they occupy the same position in their respective division, but the location of these games are determined by the position. Thus, if next season they are again in the same position other than 1st place, this can screw up the home-and-away balance between the two that's existed for the prior 6 seasons.
