16-0 in 08 is feasible

After witnessing the media debacle that followed the Pats last year, I can say, as a Charger fan, I would not wish 16-0 on the Chargers.

It's easy to say just focus game to game, however, I'm sure the Pats players had to feel some "added" pressure approaching the end of the season, and then going into the playoffs.

With regards to the question being asked, yes, the Pats going 16-0 in '08 is feasible, but probably unlikely. I would say 14-2 or 13-3, IMHO.

Yeah... the history for teams that lost the Super Bowl the year before isn't so good (except for the Seahawks in '06... even then, they were riddled with injuries).

You could say the same about the history of defending superbowl champions not being so good. In the era of free agency, it's all about managing to hold onto your good players and filling in the holes with decent free agents and draftees. The Pats are one of the best at that, and the team they have right NOW is not noticeably worse than 2007, particularly if you are of the opinion that Asante was somewhat overrated.

I'm thinking that 14-2 is more realistic, but 16-0 is certainly not impossible. We've seen what this team can do.

anyone can lose any game, we all know that. but i would say the best chances of the pats losing are @ SD, @ Indy, and @ Seattle, with maybe vs Denver on the list. Denver has the pats number, but that was pre Randy Moss. I like how Indy has to now face what the pats did in 2006, going on the road on MNF before hosting the Pats at home. If you recall, the Pats were at Minnesota on MNF, then had Indy at home on SNF the next week. The year before that Indy had a BYE before going to NE, when the Pats had a SNF against the Bills.

16-0 is great, don't get me wrong but this group has been there and done that already. We want another ring.

1.) It's a 16 game season, not 19.
2.) What they did has never been done before.
3.) If it didn't mean anything, how would that possibly jibe with your 'cauldron of pressure'?

1) Whether or not the playoffs are part of the season is semantics. But again, why would I care? Is it more impressive to win the first 18 and lose the last game, or lose the first and win the next 18? Give me the second any time. The "end of the regular season" is an arbitrary point in the season with no meaning for the ultimate goal of the season other than to determine seeding for the championship tournament.
2) A point with no meaning to me. See point 1.
3) I said it doesn't mean anything to me. It clearly meant something to many of you, which I again find befuddling. It also was an obsession of those who make money by selling advertising time.

The only relevance to me that 16-0 would ever have to me is that it keeps the possibility of an undefeated season in order. That's not meaningless, of course. But that didn't happen. It also doesn't make it much different for me than 10-0, or 1-0, or 17-0. In fact, when we talk about last year, why don't we talk about 18-0? Would I like the team to go 19-0 next year? Of course. Will I be disappointed when they lose a regular season game? Sure -- but no more than usual when they lose. And if it happens to be after they've locked up HFA for the playoffs, I won't care at all.

Now tell me who in this forum gives a sh!t about what thier rating of thier post is?

To any one that does - Please Get a life if you really care about what people think of your posts

Like there is people in here you have to impress when in reality they may very well be unemployed fat guys living in a low income housing project and typing in thier underwear  and on top of that you don't even know them?

+1

As long as one is not a troll, I'd like to think there is room for unpopular views. The whole notion of rating posts becomes a "do I agree with that" contest anyway, rather than a "did that person say something thought provoking and worthy of discussion."

no, it's not possible..... or feasible for a myriad of reasons none of which worth going over.

The only way for me to forget about that loss is if we......
1.) go undefeated again: 16-0
2.) kick the giants asses
3.) WIN THE SUPERBOWL!!!

we had 2 byes last season. We only have 1 bye in this season. Why the hell do we have 1 bye week after playing 3 games.?

playing the rest 13 games without a break is tough when you collect a lot of frequent mileages.

16-0 is great, don't get me wrong but this group has been there and done that already. We want another ring.

doing it again and getting the ring at the same time are really something. We need to have expectation if we want to accomplish anything when we have so many weapons in our team. We did it in 07 when nobody expected. Why can we not do it again.? Because we lost a SB game.? Come on.!

the fact of the matter is any team CAN win a SB game but not every team is going to have 16-0 twice in 2 consecutive years. It is a historical event. If you also get a SB ring in the same year, what does it put you in the NFL history.? INARGUEBLY the GREATEST.

If you are a player, coach, fan,or owner, does it make you feel good about your accomplishment after you are retired.? Absolutely.

With that said, it doesn't mean that everything will go our way. If we can't have 16-0, we can go for a ring but we ,at least, have something to aim.

For me, it goes like this. Imagine we go 9-7, squeak into the playoffs and win the SB from there. I would take that every time over 18-1 and a loss in the SB. Winning 16 regular season games means nothing to me without the SB win.

yea if you don't win the big game your record is meaningless even though the 16-0 was great
