Re: Law - Gaffney - Dan Morgan any word ?

that's because your current username exposed you as a fraud and a pink hat

no wonder you want to change

tobias, been a fan for 30 years, flew to Jacksonville and drove myself over to The Big Easy in Feb of 1986 to watch my Pats get pulverized by the Bears. I was offered 2K for a ticket that I paid 75.00 for (season-ticket holder price). Turned it down.

If you want to call that a pink hat. All the power to you.

Now atleast with my name, it's pretty self explanatory, can you do us all a favor and explain to us what tobias funke might mean?

I would take that over your current Uname.

Since we're already de-railing this.. How dare you! Tobias Funke is a living legend.

Anyways, back on topic.. It's good to hear Gaffney is in talks with the Pats, I'd really like him back. Especially with Stallworth gone, I think he can play a prominent role next year.

well i was trying to come up with something contrived that would illuminate my newfound allegiance to the team but all the good ones were taken

2% of people are like "hey great show lol" and 8% of people are like "lol david cross" and 90% of people are like "are you gay? who is tobias funke? why isn't your name #1PatriotBelichickLover13!!!" so i don't mind.

I agree, I would love Gaff back, he fits the system, Brady and he have got a nice chemistry going and he can easily slip into the #2 WR role with CJackson/KWashington as the #3. To be honest, I'm not sure how or why the Texans let him go in the first place.

I'm all for originality. Now give me your true thoughts on how you think Dan Morgan would do as an ILB in our defense assuming his scrambled eggs are now back into a somewhat solid form ?

If we assume he stays healthy I would say he is a great fit but not sure we can assume that. He reminds me a lot of Ted Johnson (not just the concussions)

wow, we are deep. Welker totally slipped my mind. My bad.

Let me re-phrase

Moss/Welker 1/2

Gaff/KWash 3

CJack 4

Re: Law - Gaffney - Dan Morgan any word ?

On a serious note, babybrady makes a good point.

I fail to see how losing Stallworth, Gaffney, or even BOTH is supposed to impact a team that has Welker and Moss already locked in for multiple years, along with Washington and Jackson. Most teams would kill for that lineup.

Re-signing Jabar will be a luxury. I'd love to see him back because of sentimental reasons and because I think he's a great player who already knows the offense, but if we lose him it will be the same thing as Randall Gay to me. The money just doesn't = the production.

As far as Dan Morgan? I honestly can't believe anyone is seriously considering it. As far as I'm concerned, those concussions turn a near-30 year old into a near-35 year old, and we don't need another one of those.

His production wasn't all that bad in the context of his role, I was very pleased with the contribution he made to this team. If he's asking for #2 WR money, than obviously it's not worth it, but at a good price I think you sign him no problem. Can we do without? Sure. But I like him on this team, just like you do.

Re: Law - Gaffney - Dan Morgan any word ?

I don't mean to imply that his production was bad, at all. Same thing with Gay, who is dogged a lot on this forum but a player who I consider a very good nickelback and who actually did make a few great play throughout the season and in the playoffs. It all comes down to what kind of money they want, as you say.

Re: Law - Gaffney - Dan Morgan any word ?

i dont know but if this patriots team does not resign Gaffney, I am DONE

we have been through too much frustration and ups and downs in the past 5 months

seriously if jabar doesn't come back i am moving on

Tobias - perhaps if you don't spend the whole day crying in the shower you'll get the news when the Patssign Gaffney.

Chiefs have not released Law officially. We can't talk to him yet.

they did because Law was on his way to Kansas and received BB's phone call.

Law was en route to Chiefs headquarters to sign a five-year, $30 million contract that he felt reflected his value as a top free agent cornerback. The Patriots coach wanted to know if it was too late for him to consider a return to New England.

"I was so close to just walking and turning around, but at that point, I just felt I couldn't turn back," Law said. "I had just gotten off the plane, so what was I going to say to them in Kansas City? I had given them my word."

What do the numbers indicate? How much they are paid? How many catches/TDs/yards they get?

#1 and #2 generally refers to your Z/flanker and X/split end (or the reverse, can't remember). #3 is your Y/slot guy. Any numbers bigger than that are backups to #1-3. Not sure if that is what your numbers mean, but I'll refer to the WR spots that way in this post.

Moss is the clear #1 and Welker is the clear #3. You can debate all you want about who should be opposite Moss, but it is a natural fit for CJackson. Assuming the Pats only want to keep 5 wides, I think they are done shopping. Washington and Aiken fill out the position and are standouts on ST. #4-5 aren't going to get many touches on offense unless injuries strike so strong ST play would seem to be a requirement.

If Gaffney is signed and makes the 53, I think he becomes the #2 opposite Moss and CJackson starts looking in the classifieds. It makes little sense having both of them.

Re: Law - Gaffney - Dan Morgan any word ?

I dont know about you but if Ray Ventrone doesnt come back then I am officially done with this organization!

I gave up on this squad when they let that wr leave and sign with Eagles. Bam Childress.

Re: Law - Gaffney - Dan Morgan any word ?

IMO #1 and #2 is less about where the guy lines up and more about how much production they add to the offense. It's not like these guys catch balls simply by being on the field. They have to get open, catch it, and then go somewhere with it (and we know Wes is no stranger to YAC).

Welker and Moss almost never came off the field. Name another receiver you can say that about. That's my #1 and #2.

Don't forget that on some teams you can make an argument that a TE is filling the spot of #2 (or even #1) receiver.

I agree with you on every point except that the #4 and #5 WRs aren't likely to play a vital role on this team. Given the amount of spread offense we ran last year, those guys need to be at least passable to open things up for the others.

That said, I agree with you that CJack is ideally suited to play the outside opposite Randy, and I think that should be the plan, with Welker in the slot (no one is, or should be, advocating moving him outside). That said, I think my 4 and 5 would be Gaffney and Washington. I think Aiken was brought in to fill the role Washington filled last year, with Washington moving up the depth chart. I doubt the Pats intend for both to get major touches on offense. Gaffney was a great #4 last year, and I hope he's brought back to be that again.

Re: Law - Gaffney - Dan Morgan any word ?

I thought Morgan's brain was clam chowder - is he even likely to play a full season? It's injury after injury with that guy. There were rumors he was going to be forced to retire mid-season.

Dan Morgan is visiting the Lions today.
