Is Bill Belichick Getting Off Easy?

Also remember , we were very lucky with injuries this yr. Who knows how we will be next yr.

Don't remind me - that's ANOTHER reason why this loss was disappointing. We were VERY fortunate with injuries this year, well except for that injury to our FRANCHISE QB for the Super Bowl.

The problem I have is that Belichick screwed up 2 games that NO coach has any business losing. He's a great coach, but his collapses are HISTORIC.
Now I think you're drunk. Are you f*cking kidding me ??? You don't deserve Belichick.

 You are kidding right??
Let's ask this question another way,..Is there any aspect of Bill Belichick's life that is not under scrutiny or criticism 24/7/365?? Any?????????????????
Man is incredibly strong to put up with the endless attacks on him as a person.

5-3 (.625) > 3-2 (.600)

Also, BB has never lost a playoff game at home. Dungy squandered first round byes losing at home 2 of last 3 seasons.

I won't even address Coughlin & Cowher as they are not as applicable.

Also, ask Seahawk fans who has had the better last 3 seasons ...

Dungy won FOUR games in his title run.

Ok, I'll ask a Seahawk fan:

Did your team blow an 18-point lead in a championship game? Did your team blow a perfect season in the Super Bowl?

Seahawk fan: Oh, god no.

you have to be extremely confident that you can score a TD in three plays, regardless of the pass-run combo on those downs. So why not run it at least once?
If we could have run the clock out and kicked the FG I would have been OK with that. But even running three times the Giants would have had 2 minutes, no timeouts, and only needed a FG. With the clock situation, we were stuck needing the TD; it's the irony of the game - our offense sucked all day and on that last scoring drive they moved the ball too fast.

The Seahawk fan has never won the Super Bowl. Would you prefer that ? This is crazy.

Jesus, can anybody suggest that Belichick screwed up without everybody taking it as a call for his head? The criticism for this loss is justified - his team didn't finish the game or the season after being in position to do so.

To think that ANY coach could lose a shot at a perfect season in the SB is unimaginable.

Because Super Bowls are SO easy to win! And Belichick has shown as an assistant in '86 and'90 and as a head coach in '01, '03,'04, and '07 that he doesnt know what doing because his team actually LOST one of those games.

Its "unimagineable" Fire him now!!!!!!!!!!!

For all of the people that don't dare question Belichick, all I'm saying is that my expectations are leveled for our coach in the coming seasons. He is as capable of winning a SB as he is blowing a golden opportunity. Guys like Dungy, Coughlin - they aren't as good as Belichick, but if they had the opportunities that Belichick had in our last 2 losses, I couldn't imagine they'd blow them like our coach did.

That makes absolutely no sense. Coughlin had a 14-2 team in Jax in 1999 and blew the AFCCG at home to the Titans.

Seems Dungy had a 13-0 team in 2005 and proceeded to lose 3 of his next 4. That includes his opening game AT HOME to Pittsburgh.

I understand you are fustrated but your posts are rapidly flowing down the Stupid River... and there are rapids ahead.

NONE of these coaches has blown a perfect season in the SB. NONE.

I completely agree. Richpats, I'm beginning to think you are drunk or something. Nobody has squandered more chances for Superbowls than Tony Dungy. Second would be Bill Cowher. He was 15-1 and couldn't even make the SB. Oh, and he lost to our guy. Are you saying if someone ELSE (because Dungy, Cowher and COughlin sure as hell aren't going to) handed them 18 victories and then said play this one last game that they wouldn't squander it? Because they would NEVER be in this position in the first place.

Your argument is plain awful.

Well, neither have I. Guess I'm a better coach than BB!

Whatever. You ARE drunk.

That's because they've never had a perfect season. Good grief.

Oh stop whining, Rich. What it came down to is you didn't think we needed new ones, and you couldn't suggest a way they could be better, except in hindsight. All it was was a statement of the obvious, that we won a buncha super bowls and then didn't win them. That's it.

Were we 9-7, squeeked into the playoffs, and then got skunked 42-0 by the Jags or something, I could see looking for the problem children that have to go or be thoroughly disciplined.

This one, to me, fits into the category of "lost as a team." The only group I see that had absolutely NO excuse is the O-line... but honestly, I don't see them as a low-talent group. I see them as a good O-line that stank up the joint in their biggest game. I see BB as a good coach, who plain got beat in his biggest game.

My problem this offseason is I see a lot of areas where we need shoring up, but all on D. The O lost that game - and the O was great all year.

That's why all this "sky is falling" crap gets to me. So cool, post a thread about how it is better to win a super bowl than lose one, and now that BB lost one, that means he's bad.

Nope. Made a lot of wrong decisions IN THIS GAME. You really want to let any of these guys go? Didn't think so.

PFnV

yes . all of them took their team 19-0 enroute to the SB. never lost after winning 18 games in the season.

When you engage this clown in debate, what you are participating in is the dumbing down of a fanbase.

It's like the traffic accident you just can't look away from - you know you shouldn't but you do anyway.

1. The call is to kick the 49-yd FG and go up by 7 on 4th and 13. But, they have Ernie Adams so what do I know.

2. Situational football as I understand it calls for a run play on 1st (and can be argued for on 2nd as well) to make the Giants burn at least 1 TO or roll the clock way down. Pass on 3rd and 4th.
