Pats need to win out probably to get HFA

Todays games certainly didn't help Pats in the Home Field Hunt.
Lots of big battles and looks like 3-1 will be needed for the Pats.

NE: ...... vs BAL .. @DEN .. vs NYJ .. @ MIA
OAK: .... @KC .... @SD ..... vs IND .. @DEN
KC: ..... vs OAK .. vs TEN .. vs DEN .. @SD
DEN: ... @TEN .. vs NE .... @KC ..... vs OAK

All teams are 3-1 outside of conference .. with only conference games left .. which means the conference wins tie breaker will not resolve HF.

Next criterium is - Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
If the tie is with OAK - the common games would be with BAL, DEN, HOU, BUF.
If the tie is with KC - the common games would be with HOU, NYJ, PIT, DEN.

The first question here is how do they determine which of the 2 games against BUF (in the case of Patriots) or DEN (in the case of OAK & KC) count?

In any case in this tiebreaker Pats would beat KC (even if they lose @DEN) - since they are already 3-0 (KC 1-2). If this tiebreaker would be with OAK Pats would have to win both BAL and DEN to be even since OAK are already 4-0.

If this is indeed a deciding tiebreaker then Pats would be better off with KC win next week.
Of course the strength of the remaining schedule would indicate rooting for OAK in that game.

Its gonna be tough to get HF and will probably take both wins vs BAL & @DEN.

Everyone blithely giving Oakland wins in 3 of their toughest games of the year. KC destroyed them in Oakland, Denver may be fighting for its playoff lives in week 17, and SD hates them with the power of a thousand suns. All on the road. 2-2 is not only reasonable - it is probable. Pats control only what they do in their games anyways.

they play 3 division games. you make it seem as if they have an easy schedule

forget records, the loss to buffalo kills us in the tie breaker. That fricken sucks

Even if we beat denver and oakland loses to them, they still fricken beat us in that tie breaker

The last four games are going to see a lot of changes to the current standings, but I think it is important for us to take each game one at a time and play well and hopefully win them.

Brady struggles at Denver and at Miami. Baltimore always plays us tough.

And the jets will give it everything they got to hurt our playoff standings.

But the bottom line is if we play our game and execute, all four are winnable,

As long as we don't have to go to Denver in the playoffs I'll be happy. However I just don't see us getting by Oakland

I'll take a good team that doesn't know us well (Oakland) over a lesser one that studies us like the SATs (Denver) any day.

if we beat Denver we should win out to 14-2... and if Oakland loses to them they would be 13-3. Are you giving us a different loss?

Luckily we have the Raven and Jets at home sop we have that edge there. The only way to beat Denver I believe is to severely limit there offense and us put 20 or more on them. Jax held them to 20 today but that was without semen at QB

No, but it definitely is possible we could lose. I was just looking for a scenario we could get that tie breaker back, but I dont think its possible

Honestly, the Pats need to just worry about the next game and win it. Don't think you have anything in the bag. Just win.

One game at a time fellas. On to Baltimore

The good news is the 2 Seed and the first round bye are all but clinched now. However, Oakland will have the tie breaker against us. Their schedule is tough, they look good enough to me to finish 3 and 1 the rest of the way, which means we need to go 4 and 0. (I "think")

Not too mention that we could still end up tied with KC if we drop one, and I think they get the tie breaker too the last time I checked. (But I think they should drop at least one )

Oakland has 3 division games left all on the road. They are not going 4-0.

In the case of NE both BUF games count. In the case of DEN, all four of the OAK and KC games count. Note that the tiebreaker is "best W-L-T percentage". There's no requirement that the teams have the same number of common games. Just that there are at least four.

I'm sorry, but as long as this team has a bye and doesn't play in Denver, I'm perfectly fine going to Oakland or even KC.
Definitely wouldn't want to have to play at Arrowhead, and in my opinion, KC may be the best in the AFCW division. I think they are the most complete team out of the 3 right now.

Wouldn't be overjoyed about playing in the black hole either, but it's better than Denver or KC.

People sleeping on kc. I think they got a good chance of taking control of the division by beating the raiders on thursday.
