Report: surgery for Gronk

There's zero proof AJ Derby is even good, i don't get all these AJ Derby lovers.

He has 6 catches for 65 yards for Denver, if you think AJ Derby could change this teams fortunes than that's pure delusion.

What is he Tony Gonzalez now?

A passrush or LBs who can cover would be useful now, AJ Derby can stay in Denver.
He had 4 for 40+ their last game I believe. Unknown quantity? For sure. Delusion? Hardly.

So, does BB, who's generally all about using the full roster, keep Gronk's space open, or does he just IR him?

Someone just compared Seattle and Harvin to us and Gronk?

I just cant

Stage One: Denial
I am not in denial of the injury or surgery. I am just saying hold off on the reports that it happened vs seattle vs NY or whenever.

The rest of the AFC is completely beatable...this is a serious knock, but it isn't like Brown going down in Pittsburgh, where you know any chance of throwing the football is now gone and people can sell out to Bell on the run. We have to adjust, we will adjust. Will we win the SB? Christ knows. But who says we were gonna win it anyway?

Can we get Derby back now pls?

i've still seen multiple reports that say things like "several weeks" - vic carucci tweets 8 weeks, everyone else cites that as a source and it suddenly becomes gospel

we have no idea if this is a new injury, if it is part of what he's had repaired in the past that needs a little clean up....

let's take a collective deep breath - the sky isn't falling

Yeah, if the 8 weeks is accurate, he's out until the week before the Super Bowl. Doesn't seem worth it to be a man down for 7 games.

How so? I'd blame Josh and Brady more than the team doctors. They're the ones that tried to bomb it deep to Gronk and he injured his back trying to catch uncatchable balls.

Happened against Seattle. So no Brady and McDaniels throwing a deep ball to him is not the reason why. But please continue looking clueless thinking that.

This is a disaster. We need Bennett to be THE MAN. Save us Marty

Bennett is great but he is not gronk. Gronk is mostly uncoverable. Plus we also lose a big part of our blocking scheme if we move bennett out and the oline can suffer. its a trickle down effect.
We didn't have Gronk essentially for the first four weeks of the season, either. So it's not like we haven't had any preparation for this.

Something tells me if we got to a SB though we'd have him back and also FRESH. Could be worth watching

This is terrible. But if there was any season where the offense was set up to handle the loss, it would be this year. I'm not just talking about Bennett, but also the addition of better WR's, plus Dion.

So, does BB, who's generally all about using the full roster, keep Gronk's space open, or does he just IR him?

He kept the roster spot open for Edelman last year when they thought he could be ready for the playoffs. I assume that if the Pats doctors think there's a chance Gronk can play any part of the postseason, he'd keep the roster spot open for Gronk as well.

  • Agree
Reactions: SVN
I am not saying he's our saviour. He's been with us all of preseason and until trade deadline. Just another body we could use at TE is what I meant.

We have enough reception options. The issue is the loss of variability that Gronk offered being excellent blocking and receiving. Derby wouldn't be able to contribute in the same role anyway so we are not really missing that much.

Lewis has suddenly become the most important chess piece of the offense.

I kinda disagree. What 53rd guy on the roster is going to bring more value to the team than what Gronk could potentially bring to the AFCCG and Super Bowl?

And you saw how deadly it was with brady and gronk back together. The difference in the first 4 games in this offense vs without him.
