Bill Belichick Is Done With Microsoft Tablets

I refuse to use Windows 10. The only reason I really have to use Microsoft products is for gaming. Hopefully Vulcan API is in full swing by the time Legacy Windows products lose support from Microsoft. It'll be all Linux from there on out I hope.

Agreed, I've been resisting the "free" move to Windows 10.

I only moved off of XP when it stopped being supported.

Once Microsoft forces me off of Windows 7 I'm moving to Linux.

Windows 10 would be a pretty good OS... if they didn't just assume nobody cares about privacy, and if they didn't compound the whole forced update issue by routinely releasing updates that cause crash loops.

That said, I still upgraded to Windows 10, partly for the DX12 support and partly because most of the worst privacy-infringing features can be disabled. I dual-boot Linux, though, and end up using it quite a bit.Looking forward to the day that I can ditch Windows, but not holding my breath waiting for it.

I actually did install Windows 10. However, I dual boot Ubuntu and W10 on my laptop, and I rarely log into Windows anymore. It's such a mess. Luckily, I'm not a big gamer, especially on PC. I have a PS4 that I mostly use to watch movies and play Madden.

ill take the garbage microsoft puts out over the 1984esque closed system IOS uses any day of the week.

iOS doesn't impress me either. Linux is vastly superior to both.

iOS shouldn't be in this conversation, since it powers iPhones and iPads. OS X is the correct comparison since it's the desktop operating system. OS X shares a unix heritage with linux, so both are more closely related to each other than to windows.

Touche.

It must have been that constant "Update to Windows 10, Free!" pop up!

I'm not an expert at all. But They're all Unix or Unix-like right? Linux is Unix-like? Windows is Unix? OSX is BSD which is Unix-like? I can't remember, it's all confusing! But they're all pretty much Unix, right? :p

The league issued tablets aren't the problem. It's the league installed rootkit and spyware on the tablets that is is the problem. /tinfoilhat

For the record:I;m kidding.

rather than dual-booting, if your desktop/laptops are powerful enough, you should consider running windows in a virtual machine. my main mail/file/web server at home runs centos, and it also runs several virtual machines, one of which is windows.

my desktop and media computer run Mint, but i can access the virtual Windows machine on the main server through a remote session. we also have a couple of windows 10 laptops so my wife can use word, quicken, and skype.

i love the stability of linux and the availability of open source software. i've had server uptimes of more than 500+ days.

Windows is not Unix-based, but it's a trivial distinction for the vast majority of users. If you don't regularly use terminal commands in OSX, for example, then it being Unix-based won't really mean anything to you.

BSD is unix. windows has a completely different heritage.

here's a graphic showing the unix roots of OS X and linux:

I, uh, I've never really had a problem with Windows outside of ME, which was a nightmare (although that could've been the fault of the lemon Gateway it was running on).

I just bought a Lenovo 2-in-1 running Windows 10 like an hour ago.

Sooooooo ... football!

He, and everyone else, should be done with Microsoft products in general, including their OS. Windows is pure garbage, as is pretty much anything else put out by Microsoft.
So true. We just bought a new laptop and are sending it back as it keeps crashing when we try to get onto the internet. Apple products are much better, but unfortunately, more expensive, and the laptops have screens that are too small for blind old ladies like me.

Linux doesn't have the wide market support needed to support a corporate environment.

Linux, plus Thunderbird with the Exchange add-on, plus Open or Libre Office configured to always save as MS Office - works for a very large percentage of the average office worker. Where it falls is web apps that rely on .Net. However, terminal servers can fill that role (rather that trying to get IE to run under WINE).

From this clip I would say that he was unhappy with the tablet.
Well, on the bright side, at least he didn't smash it on Malcolm Butler's head!

I have two SSD 250mb drives in my desktop, one with Windows 7 and the other with a free Windows 10. I use 10 so I can use the gaming functions and play XBOX one games on Xbox Live Gold.

I alternate booting depending on what I am doing.

Those aren't really MicroSoft Surfaces they are using. Oh sure, it says "Surface" and they are made by Microsoft, but it is special NFL devices with very limited capability, software and operating systems.

I wonder what the problem was. It may have simply been a networking issue. I know they aren't exactly using the same "airwaves" as the rest of us, but with so much electronics flying around the stadium, who knows....

From his comments, it sounds like his complaints go beyond just Microsoft, though they appear to be the main problem. Sounds to me like there are too many systems that don't work well together and that the entire process has been over-engineered.

A total fail from a Quality Control perspective...in fact, I'd bet that no one individual or company is in charge of making sure that everything works together. They all probably get into a big pissing match with each other trying to blame everybody else.
