OT, but just saw that Zolak tweet to the right here. "Pound Coors lights all day?" "#gethammered?" Sorry, I live out of state, is that really how he is? That's embarrassing.

Our current offense bears almost no resemblance to the Ray Perkins and Ron Ehrhardt offenses of the 70s and 80s. It's a misnomer to call this a Perkins-Ehrhardt offense because BBs first OC in NE coached under Ehrhardt once.
In fact the offense we run today doesn't even resemble the one Weis ran here barely at all.

My understanding is that there is significant carryover in terminology and "core" formations, cadences, etc.

In terms of actual plays, etc I would agree there is very little if no carryover to what P/E or what Charlie ran at UF to what is here.

Hes such a cartoon character.

So I'm wondering...what does a really good Brissett performance do to JG's perceived value...no effect at all? Or does everyone then say, eh, they're all systems QBs up there, it's all Belichick. Or is it goddamn, the Pats have the top 3 QBs in the AFC East...

nothing.........next thing you know, both are traded and the pats have 8 picks in the first 2 rounds the next 2 years.......

I know hes a rookie but I think people are selling him short.

Hes smart.
He was first exposed to the Perkins/Erhardt offense by Charlie Weis for an entire year.
He received the playbook in May
Hes had a ton of practices and reps.
Hes played in the preseason
Hes played in a real game already which helps a little with butterflies
Hes had a week worth (sort but planning nonethless) of planning as hes going to start.
This coaching staff knows how to put him a position of success.

I think hes going to play very well tonight

Also Parcells has been a mentor to him.

Yep. Just not sure how much football-field knowledge he has passed onto him. Nonetheless its a great mentor to have in a life of a football player.

Gotta go with Reiss there, right....
Who knows? I hope not.
Even if his right arm was about to fall off, I'd want Garroppolo active to handoff in the event of emergency.

Reis's reporting JG to be inactive.

I think he can be adequate. I don't expect him to play very well, don't expect Garoppolo type of results (hell, before proving himself, I didn't know HE could get those results). Garoppolo has 3 things over Brissett:

1) Incredibly quick release, Brissett's release is not nearly as quick, pretty elongated release. 2) Garoppolo is already good at reading NFL defenses and looking off his 1st and 2nd targets, Brissett looked very good in preseason games, but I did notice him lock in on his target. 3) Garoppolo has 3 years in this offense, and he showed how well he knows it, Brissett has a couple of months.

I would be shocked if we win this game, less shocked if Garoppolo was healthy, but extremely shocked if they can win this game with Brissett. A few things have to happen, 1) NO turnovers, have to be mistake free, can't give short fields and free points. 2) Defense HAS to show up, they've been horrible in the 2nd half, have no confidence this defense can protect a 14-21 point lead. They can't afford to be that pourus if they want to win this game.

Mediot On NFLN* reports Edelman is Brissett's back up, not Jimmy G.
Mike Reiss reports Jimmy G. is not in uniform tonite.
Ian Rappaport reports that Jimmy G. is dressed and Brissett's back up.

So which one is it?!

Oh yeah, and Gronk is definitely playing tonight.......maybe.

Agreed. And I think playing last week will help him a lot with butterflies...more prep, his game, etc.

Question...when was the last time the Pats lost a regular season game as an underdog?
Denver AFC Championship?
Don't know about regular season.
