Stork NOT Released; Traded to the Redskins

There will be additions from the cut pool...not worried.

Everyone take a breath and remember Scar is back so the OL will be fine generally. Andrews does need to stay healthy though. However it is not new for any team to not carry a true backup center.

Karras looks like he is making the team and he will be one of the backup options. IMO if you are going to carry injury prone guys they need to be difference makers or you have no alternative. Andrews offers an alternative.

Also if you carry to many injury prone people your depth loses meaning.

ive been a bit out of touch recently by...

why are we calling Stork dumb/undisciplined, etc? is it just the headbutt in a practice recently?

I am not calling him either (I wouldn't know). Stork got some flack when Matt Light (who I would think would know better than almost anybody) said that Stork was telegraphing his snaps in the Super Bowl. However, I suspect that at least some of that responsibility rested with his OL coach (DeGuglielmo), and it should be noted that BB fired DeGuglielmo about 24 hours after the Super Bowl.

EDIT: As Brandon Five pointed out, the telegraphing was at the AFC Conference Championship of course, this is why I shouldn't post at work.

Only 33 players left from the 2014 SB winning team...

Math geek here.... If the average NFL team turns over 1/4 - 1/3 of its roster year to year, then you'd expect to wind up with only 25-30 of the original group (including IR'd guys) when removed by 2 years. So it's not unexpected, but still it does seem strange to me that only 33 are left.

Stork will get claimed, he is still on his rookie 4th round deal. I can't believe they couldn't trade him for a 6th or 7th round pick.

The only thing that would make sense is that they are going to move Thuney to center, but this would only happened if both Jackson and Cooper were healthy and to start the season (neither is).

I like Andrews but he is a bite small and is by no means a "great center". This line is seriously starting to worry me, no Stork, Vollmer, Jackson, Cooper.........
he's about the same size dan koppen was. koppen held his own well enough.

koppen 6'2" 296lbs
andrews 6'3" 295lbs

kinda of surprised, but not really.

Storks injury history combined with her penchant for fighting means hes just not a fit for what the patriots want to do.

Yeah, no. Mason never played center in college. He was a left guard as a freshman and sophomore and a right guard as a junior and senior. He does have a center's prototypical body type and many teams were interested in drafting him to play center.

Oh I thought he had played center at Georgia Tech and was moved to guard in the NFL, probably because he was listed as a center in draft publications (e.g. 2015 NFL Draft Profile: Shaq Mason). Thanks for the correction.

A little bit surprised since i always viewed him as a smart player with potential after his rookie season. I hope he regains form if he makes another team

From jeff Howe:

The fact they shopped him around and found nada is interesting.

He got in one fight in practice. I guess we should be looking at cutting Malcolm Butler too:rolleyes:

You mean the AFCCG earlier this year?

Hate to say it but our 2014 draft might turn out to be one of our worst drafts of the BB tenure.

Yeah, the draft itself isn't looking so hot. At least we did get plus performances from Stork in 2014 when he played and from Easley in 2014-2015 when he played. However, if Malcolm Butler were a 7th round pick instead of an UDFA, we'd be singing a different tune (wouldn't be a home run of a draft, but would look a lot better). And unfortunately, we'll get a chance to see how the Garappolo pick pans out; I'm certainly more confident in him than I ever was with Mallet, but that's not saying much....

We would not have won the SB without the Stork pick. Jimmy G and White are major contributors right now.
Luckily games are not won by draft assessment. We should rank poorly in drafting anyway because we draft at the end of every round, and have the most talented team in the league. I'm glad we don't suck and have to keep all of our picks like other teams.

wow didn't see this coming at all.
