Patriots Offense - A plethora of riches??

I see any team with a pass rush just going after GPO on every down and him eating the ball or throwing up for grabs

Ya sucks Edelman, Gronk, Bennett, Amendola etc. won't be playing those games.

With both our runners coming off season ending injuries, I don't see a running back who can take advantage of that, do you?

Dion Lewis and LeGarrette Blount.

Just because they had season ending injuries doesn't mean they wont be there Week 1.

Garoppolo isn't Brady. If they don't get this suspension delayed legally, I see any team with a pass rush just going after GPO on every down and him eating the ball or throwing up for grabs. Maybe Donald Brown? That's kind of grasping at straws, though.

I will put my faith in Bill Belichick. I think he will have Garrapolo ready and there are many weapons to exploit. I share the concerns about the run game but the off-season isn't over.

The sky is the limit. They have not improved at OT or RB, however, and it is entirely possible they could be starting the season without TB (suspension), Edelman (foot) and Lewis (knee).

Getting Solder back is a big upgrade, and can you link to the stories about Edelman not being ready? That's the first time anyone has said that.

Julian Edelman *foot*
Edelman was reported by a fan to be in a cart with his foot in a boot, suggesting a second surgery. The concern at OT with with depth. Solder and Vollmer were around at the beginning of last year too, but I would not want to count on both making it through the season unscathed. Depth is a question mark.

TE and QB are the only positions on offense that are elite. The RB's, Offensive line, and WR core range from mediocre to below average

I'm shocked that you bought into the troll post. Edelman has been posting photo's on Instagram of his workouts and just attended a camp where not one media member saw any evidence of injury. Just because a troll comes in and posts make believe garbage about being at a bar with Patriots at 5 a.m. doesn't make it so. If Julian Edelman was hitting the bars on NYC with a clearly injured foot it would be all over social media.

I have no idea if it's true. If it is, it would not be surprising with this injury. I do not take working out as evidence that he does not require another surgery. He was walking fine after he played in a game but acknowledged the possibility of a second surgery. If it is not, then it is more than trolling--it would be a flat out lie and it should be grounds for lifetime banning.

To be clear I am not saying a second surgery isn't possible but I am saying that people claiming they were at a bar in New York and saw a hobbled Edelman is bullsh.t. if Edelman were hobbled it would be all over social media and Boston Media would have been on it by now. They just held camp and he participated and there was no indication at all that Edelman was hobbled to any degree.

As far as the OP goes I give little to no credibility to any poster claiming they saw so and so and they were injured etc etc. It's almost always complete garbage.

His favorite receiver has always been the one who is open. Moss, Gronk, Edelman and welker get the ball a lot because they are open a lot.
there have been times when Brady has appeared to lock on to a particular receiver based on what he expects from the pre-snap read. A bad habit. Keeps him from finding anybody else who might be open.

He's done that with all his favs at one point or another.

Bolden and White and Foster. Plus Blount will probably be back day 1 even if Lewis is not.

If our oline can't block, having these weapons mean diddly squat!

I disagree. If his first read is open he hits it. Depending upon who that player is "open" is defined differently. Brady does not lock in receivers it's just not in his process of decision making.

Disagree if you'd like, but there are times it's been clear he was locked on before the snap and missed more open alternatives.

Not clear at all which is why we disagree. If you expect him to throw to a "more open" 4th progression instead of the open first progression then you do not understand progressions and the reason that Brady is the GOAT.
He isn't supposed to drop back and survey the field and find who is most open he is supposed to go through his progression and throw to the first one he feels he can complete. What you think you see as locking in is simply not what is happening.

Not to burst your bubble or crap on your excitement, but I could give two flips how great and easy it will be for Brady in the regular season, with 70% of teams in cap hell or rebuilding, etc, and with the rules making it so easy to move the ball and Goodell wanting the Jaguars in London.

We all know this club goes no worse than 12-4 for those reasons. It's what happens in the title game and the SB, is what matters.

What I want to see is balance and limited shotgun spread crap in January and hopefully February.

Stack the TEs and mix in some 2 back sets with Brady under Center and run it more than usual, all the way to Houston.

Brady can shred 80% of these defenses half drunk and blindfolded because Ds play zone or can't match up personnel wise. We get it. This has been going on for 10 years and we get how the personnel supports that he generally wants to do that at will, but it's those key moments in the tougher match ups, where Brady needs to scale it back with McDaniels and play smarter and use more traditional sets. Brady is far better with it against the better Ds. Against the mediocre or bad Ds, he can drop back times in a row in the shotgun spread and tee off on a D.

Think vs Cincy in Week 5 of 2014.

They went into KC and KC was waiting for it. We can't have that trap set anymore and the Pats being completely oblivious to it. Teams gameplan for it and practice it all week, playing their own little personal SB with it. I am sick of it.

What I want to see is more of a traditional offense that at least dictates instead of being dictated to. I fully realize the offense last year had some injury issues, but this McDaniels/Brady in-game problem in title games and SBs, goes back a decade.

Enough.

No real fan cares about stats.

PS Bennett is a massive upgrade over Chandler because when he is on the field he can block as well as he can catch, so Ds won't know what is up. Brady and McD need to take advantage of that.

I realize part of your post acknowledges this, but it's what they do in the title game and SB against the good/great Ds, or maybe Seattle midseason or another good/great D, where I'll find that litmust test. Roll up the sleeves and step on their throat. Tired of this crap tapdancing around the obvious.

Brady is the best playaction QB ever, even if the greatest QB ever. Use it.

No one was talking about Stats at except, well, you.
I was talking about the fact that they can run the 2-TE set and don't need to rely strictly on the passing game or have to worry about the team crapping the bed if Edelman or Amendola get injured..

My post was focusing primarily on the idea that Brady has something that he really hasn't had since 2004. Significant depth amongst his receivers.

Yes, because they suffer catastrophic injuries every year.. I mean, it happens every year that an offensive linemen tears their pectoral muscle or tears a bicept..

Disagree.

He's had tons of depth at WR in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. 2013 is only when he didn't with Hernandez in jail and Branch done. 2009 was bad with Galloway not working out.

The 2007 team was so loaded Stallworth wasn't even needed in the offense by Week 6. Nor was Gaffney.

In 2012, Lloyd had 74 catches to go with 4 TDs from the X.

Keep in mind Hernandez was much as a receiver as as he was a TE.

LaFell, Amendola and Edelman led the way in 2014.

So, what you're saying is sort of a myth.

Also, BB transformed the offense into a TE based passing offense with Gronk/Hern in 2010.

I would say 2012 was the most loaded the WR corps had been since 2007s WR group.

Edelman
Branch
Lloyd
Welker

That's your top 4 right there in 2012.
