wRONg Borges returns to WEEI

I listened to the beginning...he said he though BB was a great coach, but hated the way he dealt with people. Then he went on a tirade about how the pats screwed themselves by not signing Branch to big bucks last year and that signing all these receivers this year proves his point. (it's about $$$ bogus, they wanted to keep branch). He then proceeded to talk about how the pats mismanage their money and that's why they don't sign certain people.

I stopped listening though as the BS continued endlessly

I remember last season when he was on Felger's TV show. He went off on BB saying he was doing the same thing he did in Cleveland and it's all catching up to him. I remember the look on his face (pure hate) and the others looked at him like, WTF?

He can say what he wants, but he hates BB and he rejoices at every precieved failure by BB.

What did he say about the plagiarism? Did he admit to any wrongdoing?

No. (and i admit i didn't listen to the whole thing...if someone else did please update) The first 10 minutes of the show they gave bogus an open forum to give his side of the story. He basically danced all around it and said that he decided after talking to the globe that he was better off pursuing other interests (i don't remember the exact words, but you got the impression he left because it was his decision...never mentioned the plagiarism)

There was no wrong doing, if there was, he'd have been fired....he wasnt.

"Borges’s column, like other sports "notes" columns in the Globe, contain a line at the bottom, reading, "material from personal interviews, wire services, other beat writers"

Just like David Chase said regarding the end of the sopranos...."its all there".

There is evidently no need for a second attempt. Your weak response/deflection means, of course, that the initial summary was accurate to the letter.

Thats 2 tries.....you fail miserably.

Now get back to your hard hitting--'heres a link to the picture of Brady wearing a Yankee hat'--journalism.

BSMW: Direct attribution, naming the source and providing a direct link.

Borges: WORD FOR WORD plagiarizing and then at the end of 6 pages making a GENERAL attribution that SOME stuff came from 'other places'.

Are you even in the ballpark?

What dont you understand with ""Borges’s column, like other sports "notes" columns in the Globe, contain a line at the bottom, reading, "material from personal interviews, wire services, other beat writers"?

That right there is the reason they couldnt fire him.

Also, Ronny Boy will be back as a regular contributer to EEI in the fall...why?...because he knows his stuff and EEI is aware of this....or do you think they just want him for his Raider knowledge?

Sometimes journalists confuse negativity and impartiality. Being overly critical doesn't make you objective.

A weak argument to say he couldnt have done anything wrong because he wasnt fire, because he was suspended without pay.
Had he done nothing wrong they couldn't have taken that action either. If you do something you cannot be fired for, then you cannot be suspended without pay either.

Funny, his Union couldn't defend him against suspension without pay.

BTW, information culled from other areas is fine with that kind of attribution. Word for Word plagiarism for multiple paragraphs isn't.

But you wouldn't understand the difference.

Which is the reason he went bye-bye...he couldn't even change the order of words or substitute..TOTAL laziness on his part..

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. A reporter in Borges' position has permission to paraphrase factual information from fellow beat writers, NOT copy whole passages of others' work verbatim, ESPECIALLY without direct source attribution. That is PLAGIARISM, and in Borges' case it has been substantiated. Next to simply making stuff up it's the worst possible professional transgression any journalist can commit. Further, you have no idea whether Borges was, indeed fired, or asked to resign. Anyone who believes he simply walked away from the Globe without being dismissed or asked to resign in lieu of dismissal is delusional. You simply don't walk away from a job like that unless forced to.

Or, a settlement was made that included giving Ronnie back his suspension money and then some....and since it became a "legal issue" (according to Borges), I'd wager that is certainly was "then some". ;)

Where do you come up with this speculative nonsense? If that idiot alluded to any kind of "legal issue" around the professional misconduct leading to his apparent ouster, it's a flimsy public face-saving attempt and nothing more. What's sadder is people like you falling for it. He was represented by a union, if he had ANY kind of a case, don't you think the union would have backed him? Oh, never mind. It's futile trying to talk sense to somebody like you.

He's not falling for it, though he is dumb as a rock and half as articulate. He's just a flimsy little pecker who gets his jollies--as does Borges--by writing unsubstantiated crap and hoping for the worst. In other words, our Danny Boy is..........A

Holy Crap, are we all bored, ten(10) pages and 90+ comments on the defense of "Poor Misunderstood Ron Borges".. the man is indefensible and his vitriol for the pats, and the reason for it minimizes any semblance of credibility on his part. He is what he is, an angry man who got jilted by BB and cannot let bygones be bygones. I also hate his voice..

Wrong website, *******. I'd invite you to hit the link to learn more about what you're talking about, but I'm certain the lack of pictures would create a barrier that someone with your obvious 'challenges' could not overcome.

Oh, sorry, I didnt realize you were his union rep. I guess you would know for sure whether the Union backed him or not.

More insults...clever.

Inside sources have said that Borges actually had to pay the Globe an unspecified amount (on top of the suspension) for a settlement with Mike Sando and that THAT was what the union was fighting, not the suspension and subsequent termination. Don't forget, there was a real journalist in Seattle/Tacoma who was the robbed party in all this.
