Just heard a tweet from Cimini on Mike & Mike.

That'll get them the cap space they need to sign Fitzpatrick.

And no one to protect him.
It pretty much forces them to take an OT with their first pick. Considering that a top 20 pick's cap hit isn't insignificant, depending on D'Brick's dead cap hit it could still be pretty tight to sign Fitzpatrick.

Anyone know what D'Bricks dead cap hit is?

Jets front office: We want you to take a big pay cut.

Ferguson: Sod off. I'm outta here.

Glorious.... And if it didn't happen that way, it should have.

"the sense is that he'd be amenable to playing on a fair reduced salary, according to sources"

This was two days ago. How can somebody within the team be that out of touch on a major situation like this?

Wonder what this will do to the Jet's locker room.

5mil dead I think. Should free up 9mil.
Sucks losing him. One play missed in 10 years and that was because it was a trick formation. Crazy.

Guy misses one snap in ten years = bust. Got it.

Yeah, exactly. He's a really good guy with a history of personal achievement who had the misfortune of being drafted by the Jets and ended up being about an average NFL left tackle. In most years, he'd be rated in the 10-20 range of NFL LT's, which is average.

For the Jets, he was one of the few things they could count on from year to year. We can hate on him for that, I suppose.

I hope they spend big money and resign Fitz, dude isn't as good as the numbers he put up last year Im willing to bet it was a fluke. Losing a franchise LT sucks, he wasn't Joe Thomas level but guy was dependable and reliable his entire career, leaves a huge hole for the Jets to cover.

Better the jets than denver getting Fitz. If Fitz goes to denver they can be a very strong team.

Reports said (i think) that the Jets were asking for him to take a paycut so they could re-sign Fitz, even though they were very active in the Free Agency.

Still, surprising move. I would not be shocked if he returned at some point

If he files the retirement paperwork, he can't come back for at least a year, I think.

I hope that aging CB in Revis was worth all these losses for them...

Wait no. ... no I dont. F the Jests

Thus ending the careers of one of the guys with the greatest names in a sport full of them.
