The NFL is basically a criminal organization

I'm cutting back and will stop for good once TB is done. I'm doing what I can.
Wow, what a principled stand you're taking. "I hate football so much that I am going to stop watching it - juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust as soon as this current Patriot dynasty is over."
What are you doing?
I will tell you what I am not doing: I am not whining about how people should stop watching football and stop buying merchandise while personally following all NFL news, refusing to stop watching NFL games myself and regularly contributing to a forum of an NFL team.

I love football, I love the Patriots, and I have loved those things my whole life. That attachment is far, far greater than the corrupt assholes currently occupying the league front office, it will endure their disastrous reign, and it will continue long after they're gone from their positions.

Wish I could find my posts that most people just whistled right by last year. A no notice raid on the league offices in New York, and every team facility to include the NFLPA offices, would make any other criminal organization look like a kindergarten mafia. I wouldn't even put murder out of the question.

It's corrupt as all hell, and once an organization starts hiring goons (Troy Vincent) to make decisions, and play favorites with teams (NYJ), someone in the FBI should have perked up by now. Maybe the are and we just don't know it. Maybe this conccussion issue will be the trigger. Probably not though because, well, maybe the FBI is as corrupt as the NFL.

I agree about the corruption of the NFL. When you say "maybe the FBI is corrupt as the NFL", I would like to point out a major difference.

Roger Goodell and the owners report to nobody, and have absolute power over professional football.

The FBI reports to the President through both the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence, and it is also subject to oversight through congressional judiciary hearings. Not to mention investigative reporters in the press. Whatever you think of the FBI, that is a big difference from the NFL.

I guess it's a good thing I'm not doing those things either.

Have fun waiting for the corruption to dissipate without any pressure from the fans.

Sure thing. You'll be waiting right by my side since your "principled stand" consists of boycotting football juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust as soon as you're ready to.

True. I believe they are all corrupt. Not the basic street level agent mind you, but the leadership. I'm sure the NFL is a cash cow for certain politicians so the AG wouldn't even think about authorizing an investigation. I hold out hope that someone will buck that trend but I fail to see it.

The fact that the Jets get a 100k fine for tampering, and the Chiefs get what they did, should be enough to move the needle. Add in this the concussion report, the collusion between the NFL and Rams to draft Michael Sam, it shouldn't be close.

I agree an it will continue. I don't think their on the field product is as good as it was. The timeouts. The stops n starts in play. The official's crappy calls. QB play. The flow of the game is brutal.

Not to mention the ridiculous TNF uniforms. Mustard vs Ketchup game for example:

For me the process is more organic than it is an act of protest, which short of millions of fans I'd pretty much useless. While I will no longer buy any NFL type of product, hats, sweats etc..... the act of actually not watching or supporting the Patriots any more will be due to lack of interest and not some firm date where I shut it off . I was a baseball player growing up and kept playing for a while as an adult but when I stopped playing I stopped following it and never went back. With football my interest has eroded somewhat because the rules have made the refs more of the game and fantasy football is driving all the changes for more offense. The corruption in the league office is killing my faith in the game and once my interest disappears my viewership well follow. And the 18 game season and international expansion will speed up the process.

Does OP not see the hypocrisy in his post? If you don't like how the NFL operates, then don't support it. Or are you one of the "as soon as Brady and Belichick are gone, I'm out of here" fair-weather non-fans?

Gang, I think the FBI is a little busy with other things these days.

Fantasy football, when all is said and done and the league begins taking a downturn in a decade or two, will be the primary vessel keeping the league afloat.

So the NFL is turning into a big, sweaty, noisy random number generator...

Since when does being a fan of Brady/Belichick but not the NFL make you a "fair-weather non-fan"? Being a fan of a particular player/coach and deciding to stop watching football when they are gone doesn't make you a fair-weather fan. It makes you a fan fan who has decided that the only reason for sticking around is to support those two.

I don't know what your deal is but you've been sucking the NFL's C**K for months now. Both in regards to Deflategate and crap like this.

The fact is that the NFL has been corrupt for decades. The league and owners hid information regarding the number of injuries and regarding concussions. It also hid information on revenue and even with the newest CBA, they just got caught, again, with-holding money from players. Goodell is just another symptom of the larger issue. And, unfortunately for him and the NFL, they are being bitten by social media because they aren't astute with it.

The NFL has been bitten by BountyGate, domestic violence issues (Ray Rice, Greg Hardy, etc), Child Abuse (Adrian Peterson), DeflateGate and it's improprieties in regards to punishments for different teams (Chiefs losing 2 draft picks for tampering, Jets losing 100K). Viewership of the SuperBowl was down for the first time in years. Down by nearly 4M viewers.

Now you add in that the only way that Michael Sam got drafted was because the NFL enticed the Rams to do so and the even bigger damning of the NFL that they grossly manipulated the information on concussions and this is a league ripe for lawsuits. And we're talking about billions of dollars in suits that could easily lead to them shutting down because this will affect the settlement agreement they reached with the players. Judges tend not to like it when you lie to them.. And the NFL clearly lied..

I think FIFA is like this as well. So too with the NCAA.

But I can't help but watch, because I just love these sports so much. It's why these institutions have so much power.

So not it's not hypocrisy to say that I love the sport but realize that it's being run by total crooks.

It seems a tad hypocritical to decry the NFL as "criminal" and support them financially at the same time.

Haha. POLITICS is criminal. But we cast votes for them anyway.

I love the Olympics, NCAA basketball and football, FIFA soccer, and the NFL, and I think all of those organizations that run those sports are totally corrupt and borderline criminal.

So you can call me whatever you want. Do you really think the NFL is NOT criminal, given the list of things I mention in the OP?

Do you guys believe that the NFL front office knows we have 3 members that are working there only to report back to us? Did we give the 3 the new recorders and bugs to be planted in Goodell's office?

This has been too much fun........good thing the NFL doesn't monitor our board, huh? Big FAT :D

My nephew has an interview at the NFL office 2 weeks from now...hopefully he'll be #4!

I grew up a strong baseball fan, stopped caring about the game in my 30s, and haven't particularly missed it.

I long ago stopped caring about college sports as well.

If I stop being a football fan, I'll be OK too.

I am not going to lie, it will be tough for me to not follow the Pats. I have been an avid fan for 36 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the BB and Brady era. However, I cancelled cable last year, don't purchase merchandise and never visit ESPN or the nfl websites. The next step is to not go to any home games this year. I love hockey and can easily see myself spending more time following the Bruins. New England also has some of the best college hockey in the Country.

Not basically, it IS a criminal organization.

I think seeing Goodell behind bars would be just as good of a feeling as winning the Super Bowl. I wish nothing but negativity towards that piece of filth.

Hypocrisy like this tends to attract Wikileaks types. That would provide quite a bit of entertainment value.
