If they draft a WR high, I would think the depth chart by the time the season arrived would be something like...

Edelman
Washington
Hogan
Martin
(Rookie)
Slater

Maybe one of Amendola or Dobson makes the team, but that would be a lot of WRs on the roster. Hogan can do a lot of the stuff Danny does, but even if Hogan is the third WR, Martin can also replace Danny at a much lower cost. I also don't see Dobson making it unless he beats out Washington, which would be a good thing.

Maybe they carry an extra receiver since they're developing a rookie, but I'm not sure. Chris Harper can also be the depth slot guy, too.
Chris Harper may have something to say about that.

Also, likely to see at least one TC injury and a surprise cut somewhere. So I'd make the depth chart something like:
Edelman
Washington
Hogan
Martin
Harper
(Rookie)

with five of the above six on the opening day roster. I took Slater out of the list because he's not a WR, and adjusted the count of WR slots down to five to reflect that.

So...
Still need 2 true RBs, IMO, could use another OT and OG, and I'd still like a better OWR, but it would seem that the offense is mostly set with this signing.

After last year, another complete starting O-line might not be considered paranoia. Interestingly, the injuries on the O-line began just about when so many in the forum were concerned about too much depth..who might be let go.

If Lewis plays a full season sans injury, would a desire for more RBs exist?

More like two of:
Amendola, Martin, Dobson, Chris Harper and DeAndre Carter.
I would not be surprised if we see Martin and Harper, with Carter on the PS, if 'Dola doesn't renegotiate his contract.

You think more highly of Martin and Harper than do I, no doubt.

Nate will be great, is there a debate? I have faith.

Yeah, I mentioned Harper at the end of my post. I'm not sure if the team will carry that many WRs or not, but they could. I'd be happy if they carried Harper for slot depth. I'm looking forward to seeing if he's managed to bulk up a bit (and work on his hands) in the offseason, as those were his biggest issues in my opinion.

However, I feel like you end up with a lot of overlap between Edelman, Martin, Harper, and to a degree Hogan, in that scenario...

People here like to overrate the talent.

Absolutely

Lewis should be used only as the 3dRB this year, IMO, at least until the playoffs.

Using Lewis as the 3dRB and maybe sprinkling him in here and there for other plays til the playoffs sounds wise to me.

So is washington a legitimate number 2 receiver?

Amendola out?

That's one solution. Personally, I believe that there should be some kind of strategy towards keeping Lewis healthy for a full season. Perhaps, this would work? Perhaps, it would be too predictable?

Since Hogan is signed for 3 years, Martin is signed for 2 more years, Jules ain't going anywhere, and now Washington's in, I think DA might be leaving.

Jules
Washington
DA
Hogan
Martin
Dobson

That's a full slate, especially with 2 of the best TE's in the game - maybe too full?

Has anyone else noticed that many WRs who join the NEP- aside from Moss and maybe a few others -don't seem to hit their projected/productive stride until year 2?

I like this signing, good depth guy and knows the system!

Tell me that when no one is injured by Game 1. BTW, if are including Dobson, you might as well have included Harper, Carter and Boyce. One of them might beat our Martin for the #5 WR spot.

So nice to have some depth. I never want to have to put Harper on the field again. I never want to see Slater mentioned as a WR again. Amendola probably needs to restructure now or leave.

Edelman
Hogan
Washington
Martin
Dobson vs. Draftee (would prefer draftee win it as he'd be signed longer).

That is fine. If DA comes back cheaper, all the better.

I expect Dobson to be gone but he flashed a lot more (two years ago) than the others you mentioned.

It's hard to say, but if he ain't, I'll be irate. We'll just have to wait, he may not play a game until late where the stakes can change.

DA hasn't been cut yet. I'd like to see him restructure. There are going to be injuries so keeping him around would give is great depth.
