I can't help it, I like looking at game threads. In theory, posting and reading posts from other fans should be a fun, communal addition to the game.

And I get some of it will be reactionary. You get pissed off, you vent, whatever. OK.

But some of the posters are SO silly and wrong-headed, I just can't stand it. So, here's what I suggest:

Ian, appoint a small, say five person, review board. If certain posters are, in the view of the majority of the board, an overall minus for game threads, they will be banned from posting there. They will get one warning (we are a nation of second chances), and if there is second offense, gone.

I'm sure it won't happen, but would be nice. Weed out at least a few of the morons. Think about it.

Have the league office review it for us. Can't replace experience that Dean Bladino has. I'm sure he can moderate.

The absurdity of people flipping out when we still control our destiny for HFA is pretty hilarious. Yes the loss hurts, no I don't know wtf about the coin toss, but we win next week it's still ours.

And people are acting like Belichick owes us all a personal apology.

Guide to happiness in life:

1) Avoid Game Day Threads
2) See #1
Winner, winner. The gameday thread is literally the waiting zone for chicken littles and trolls to inhabit, much like the rest of the forum is made up of primarily homers.

Actually I was referring to during the game.

Of course, if you're referring to my post, well....then I would have a different response.

I'm thinking a similar warning should pop up whenever someone clicks on the game day thread:

"Warning: the collective IQ of PatsFans.com users decreases by 25 points after every positive play by the opponent. You must be 18+ to avoid being drawn in. Are you sure you wish to proceed?"

No, not referring to you at all.

If I was bit more tech-savvy I suppose I could have edited Curran's quote to have it refer to that certain segment of the forum in game day threads - particularly in those days that involve a loss by the Patriots.

We already have moderators. No?

There are moderators, but I'm not sure what they do. No disrespect to them, I just don't really know.

Look, some fan boards are really restricted--Sons of Sam Horn, say, is members only can post, etc. And I think it's mostly good this board is open. But the game threads suck more than they need to, I think.

Of course, those "wrong headed" posters would think you're the one who's wrong headed. I recommend the cursor key to skip those threads which don't meet your personal standards.

That would entail everyone on the panel to keep up with the barrage of posts throughout the course of the game. They wouldn't actually be able to follow the game or watch it. You'd have to pay these guys to be on the board and this forum can't even afford a big enough server to accommodate spikes in users during game day.

Besides, don't turn this into a nazi board.

I'm talking about game threads.

They wouldn't ban posters during the game. A quick review after the game would work.

Having some minimal standards for posting is hardly Nazi like.

Game day threads are the pit. You go in, you may come out a bit beat up or with someone's teeth stuck to your knuckles (that may be overdramatic, whatever) but at the end of the day we're all Pats fans. It's all love.

Right, Da Bruinz?
