Game Thoughts: I am absolutely disgusted by the Pats tonight edition

This offensive line was terrible today.

If you are putting the 2nd INT on Brady, that's just dumb. LaFell for whatever reason just stopped and allowed the defender to make a play on the ball if LaFell keeps running at worst that's an incomplete pass.

Wasn't he double covered even if he kept running? Why not just try and move the damn chains?

I can guarantee that we will not lose another game in the next 7 games.

I can't believe people suggesting putting Gronk with a gimpy knee in the game, i'd rather be the 3 seed with a healthy Gronk than the 1 seed with Gronk missing the playoffs.

This team is DONE if Gronk makes his knee worse and misses the playoffs, why would you risk that for a bye week?

I am not suggesting Gronk should play with a gimpy knee. I am saying he should be treated like everyone else and not expect to sit out until he is 100%. The guy has a bone bruise, not sprained ankle. It is a pain tolerance thing not a ligament thing. A bone bruise is not something that can get re-aggravated. It is either he can play with the pain or not.

If this was any other player who wanted to wait until he was 100% to recover from a bone bruise, people would be calling for him to be cut for being a pansy.

Safe to say the Pats were overly aggressive today.

And your point is? Put an injured player out there as a decoy to pull coverage? not sure that was gonna be the answer today? Actually I am sure it wasn't the answer.
I said I didn't endorse the idea of playing him, even as a decoy. Not sure what you are trying to get at. My POV on Gronk is pretty much exactly what Rob said. When he's good to go he needs to get out on the field even if he's not exactly "100%". We need the bye week.

Amendola isn't 100% but he was ready to get out on the field and bust his ass off to help try to win the game.

They need to find a running game and STICK with it. They started to get away from it late in the 2nd quarter and then all but abandoned it from there out, despite having a ton of success early on. Brady might be the only QB in the league that can win without any running game, but it's getting him killed. They NEED to run the ball for an ENTIRE game and get some rhythm going. They need to fix that Oline somehow.

I really can't pin this loss on Brady at all. Sure, that 1st INT wasn't the best of decisions, but they happen. The 2nd INT seemed to be 100% on Lafell not running the right route or breaking it off wrong. Aside from that, Brady was nothing short of incredible dealing with the pressure and Oline failures once again. And the drops... got to stop dropping the ball.
LaFell was pretty much a complete negative today. With the drops and quitting or running the wrong route he really contributed to the loss.

This was defintely not Brady's A game, but I would give him a C or C- with the majority of the offensive skill players rating much lower.

People are comparing gronk's arm surgery and acl to this injury and think he needs to be 100%. Sure but he doesnt 4 weeks to be 100% . right now they miss the short passing game because they got no running game. We cant run the ball efficiently and tonight we threw too much vs an eagles team which is poor vs the run.

I agree they shouldn't be compared. Those two other injuries could (and in the case of the bone break) could be re-aggravated if they rushed him back too fast. A bone bruise is really a nothing injury (unless the blood supply is interrupted, but that happens in the first few hours if it does). It is all about whether you can handle the pain.

Cool, I can feel you but why a stupid kick up 14-0, why throw into double coverage knowing this isn't Green, Julio, Brown, Hopkins, even Gronk? Why waste two timeouts when you have Brady, why why why I can go on all day, we could easily have won without Gronk, block on the punt, tackle the PHI player with possession, this team disgusted me and many others with the stupid decisions and executions.

So many bad plays to go around in this game. Coaching, offensive line, QB, receivers and special teams blew it today. Defense gets a pass Cuz they were put in a bad position by useless onside kicks and special teams blunders. At most they are responsible for 7-14 points of that score line.

Hats off to the Eagles. They played well enough to win and did. Their offense didn't have to do a thing. The Patriots coaches and players saw to that. It must feel good to get that monkey off their back. Especially after the Pats up 14 decided to get greedy and catch them off guard.

Anyway, chalk it up as a loss. Straight up loss. It feels better than that debacle last week with the refs pulling the rug out from under us. Still think there is a good chance they get the number 1 seed. Remember, Denver and Cincinatti still have to win out too. No give me for any team. Honestly though, as long as this team is healthy after week 17 I don't care where they play, they got a great chance to win. Of course we would all prefer it through Gillete though.

Have you noticed that Brady seems to be forcing the ball to the WR when there is coverage?
In the past 5 games, Brady threw for 5 INTs.

1st 7 games: 1 INT.

This was a team loss, all aspects of the team made uncharacteristic mistakes including the coaches. Can't blame any one individual imo, the team played like crap and the coaches made questionable play calls too. If anyone is to blame it's BB. I'm sure he would take the blame.

I don't expect gronk to play at the texans. This game can make or break a chance at a bye. At the jets and dolphins have to be wins now. This was such a piss poor performance all around.

Again, I am not saying for him to play injured. I am saying he doesn't have to wait until that deep bone bruise is no bruise at all. A deep bone bruise is more of a pain management thing to begin with. At some point, it is going to be a minor bruise that might hurt some, but not limit him in any way.

We are speculating without knowing any details. On paper I agree with what you say but it is not only pain that he needs to deal with but the injury also affects his movement until it is healed. There is a reason why Mankins was able to play through torn ACLs. It is not only because he is a tough player but also because seemingly his job was not as affected by that injury as most other positions would be. I seriously don't understand why everyone gets hung up on that 100% talk. We are not talking about a soft player like Jimmy Graham here.

Didn't Brady overthrow him? If I remember correctly, we could have hit a field goal, we have no deep threat so deal with it, my father was ragging on Lafell but as I told him we were 10-0 on short to intermediate passes why are we going away from it, Moss is gone, just throw it short to medium, it still got us a league leading 35 or so ppg. the first 11 weeks.

Like I said, you suck it up and play. Nobody and I mean nobody who has played every game or whatever in their sport and is close to the end of the normal season is healthy.

You fight, you claw and you keep playing even at 80-90%. Gronk waiting until 100% is bs because he'll never been 100% before even the super bowl. Edelman won't be 100%. Collins isn't 100%. Neither is dola.

Brady hasn't been the great Brady but he's got no one and no help. He's making the team stay competitive.

The last 2 weeks confused about the last 2 minutes of the 1st half. Why are they running the ball instead of attacking? Seems like they are running out the clock and content with taking the ball at the 2nd half.

I wrote it in another reply so I will keep it short here. It is not a bruise, it is a bone bruise. There is a huge difference between those two.

I agree with everything you say. Like I wrote in another reply in this thread, I feel McDaniels "takes the cheese" that other team are offering him too often.

It is a huge difference, but there is no difference in that it is a pain management rather than a structural thing. A bone bruise is far closer to muscle bruise than it is to an MCL sprain. A bone bruise is basically a really bad bruise that goes all the way to the bone. It isn't ligament damage. Ligament damage is something you have to be careful with.

As I said before, the only big risk with a bone bruise is if there is a loss of blood supply, but that happens within the first few hours and by all accounts that didn't happen. But I am not saying to rush out there. I am saying waiting until it is completely healed is selfish if the team needs him.

But it doesn't matter what it is. Waiting until he is 100% is not feasible. Plenty of players come back far less than 100% from ACL tears (Welker, Brady), patella tendon tears (Mayo), and other injuries that are more likely to be reinjured.
