The reality is that Brady began pulling away in this race a long time ago. Manning may have more NFL records, but his body has betrayed him to the point that it's hard to see him playing beyond this season. Brady, on the other hand, has only had one major injury in his entire career: The torn ACL and MCL in his left knee that ended his 2008 season in the first game. There's no reason to think he won't be healthy enough to play well into his early 40s, as he indicated in that private email.

What Brady has proven is that nothing can stop him. Not being a sixth-round pick (No. 199 overall) in the 2000 NFL Draft. Not sitting behind Drew Bledsoe. Not Spygate, a devastating knee injury or the charges that he played a major role in the Patriots deflating footballs for a competitive advantage. Every time Brady has found himself in the middle of some type of adversity, he's emerged stronger, tougher and more determined to show he's more than people expected.

That's what this season seems to be all about for Brady: reminding everyone of what happens when you poke a bear. We've marveled at the brilliance of Montana, the prolific production of Marino and the sheer longevity of Favre. Now it's time to really savor what we have in Brady. It's time to take a stance that long has been popular throughout the region of New England.

Tom Brady is cementing his status as the greatest QB of all time - NFL.com

I should note that the guy who wrote the article is a new hire so that's the reason it's so unbiased. He'll soon be summoned by executives in NFL* Network and tow the company line.

Any love for James White? I think he did well on his limited playing time against the jest, ok there was a drop, but overall talking about being in the right position and timing of the plays, I think he picked up right where Vereen and White left off.

I have always liked white, it's really just that Some people were advocating cutting him in training camp because they didn't think he flashed enough or something. That being said there is a reason he isn't the starter, he should have esseily scored on that run from the 3 but instead he got stopped at the two. Lewis definitely scores there.

How in Heaven's name does a QB judge velocity vectors so accurately that he releases the ball WAY before the WR is in position, plus avoiding the skilled defenders? Remarkable shot.

I throw just like this in flag football. People think I suck. But my WRs are just not as good as Edelman.

Not sure about which specific part of the refs uniform should be pink, but I recently read an article stating that the NFL only gives 8.01 percent of the October/pink merchandising proceeds to breast cancer awareness and research.

One could argue that once again, they are trying to take advantage of the marketability factor, particularly as it pertains to women viewers/fans.
Yeah, their October thing is a complete scam.

No he didn't. He can catch the ball, but he almost never makes anyone miss him. He's a servicable short term backup, nothing more.

We'll never comprehend how.

But someone playing the position in NFL for 15 years can explain it as if they were microwaving popcorn.

How the hell is it so warm out in New England?! It's freezin out here in the Midwest!

I was always the QB in pickup football although I had a Chad Pennington rag arm. Accurate, no INTs & threw loops on the long ball but standing where Brady is, seeing what he saw BEFORE throwing, and hitting the "covered" WR on the numbers is unbelievable. That picture is one of the best ever in illustrating just what it takes to be an NFL QB, never mind really mean big guys wanting very badly to hurt you.

Speaking of both Drew Brees and archery, this video that tries to see who is more accurate - Brees or an Olympic archer both aiming at a 5 inch target at 20 yards - is a lot of fun:

Actually I don't think he'd be able to explain it either; the same way a Zen master doesn't explain how he's able to split an arrow with another.

You very well might be right. The greats just have this sense of anticipation and how to execute that mortals don't possess.

I remember a post game interview Bob Lobel did with Larry Bird and during a game he made an absurd pass behind his back to a player that had no earthly business being in the spot LB threw it to. He was there anyway, caught the pass and made an easy layup.

When asked how he saw the player, LB said, " I dunna know...Just kinda felt he was gonna be there.".

Greatness.

I was in an office today, and they had F/M on. Felger brought up a few cool stat comparisons. Two I remember:

When teams throw 80% of time, or more, in last 10 years
Patriots 4-0
Rest of league 3-109

Also, Rodgers has never had a 50+ pass game.
Rodgers in 40+ pass games: 8-11
Brady in 50+ pass games: 16-7

If you're rating them there (and I assume you are) I'd put Lewis above Woodhead. Danny was great, but Lewis makes people miss more consistently and displays more power than Danny did.
