I think he has been good but some here just don't see it and keep harping on how he is not naturally athletic and slow. He had a 4.4 40 at the pats tryout but they go by a 4.6 they have recorded somewhere. People don't realize game speed is different than running the 40 in your shorts speed. Boyce was a burner but he didn't do anything with pads on.

My position has been (on the Butler thread) that Butler is a legit #1 CB, not a Revis or Sherman a good #1 CB. Pro Bowl may be a bit of a reach. could end up being best UDFA evah.

No way i pay Butler over 6 mill a season we need to reup him yesterday before it gets stupid.

He had a play last weekend where he flew across the field to make a tackle, and his on field speed was breathtaking.

Well they need to go watch the colts game and at about 10:45 left in the 3rd quarter on 3rd and 10 and watch his pursure on Moncrief and then they'll see.

His play on the double move by Moncrief was really nice.

Since he is an UDFA don't think we can till next year IIRC. He will cost a lot to sign, he is making a case for more money every week.

i've said it before, but malcolm butler was the far better option than revis, at least in terms of dollars. basically butler is 3/4 Revis but at .o2% the cost (not 2%, but .02%)

UDFAs can renegotiate after two years, just as Ryan Allen did.

I don't understand the criticism of Malcolm at all.

The kid has been asked to basically guard the #1 of every team and has done a damn good job. Has he been beat before? Sure, who hasn't. Is he Revis? No, but who (that isn't on crack) thought that he would be.

Thanks for the gif JMC. He has great game speed and I think he has the talents to be a #1. Correction, he is already the #1 corner in our defense. It would be nice if people actually watch film on him than just read about him. The man helped seal the SB and competes on every play. Of course there will be a bad play here and there, even Revis gets burnt, except somehow Malcolm isn't even allowed that and as stated above he is being paid 3/4 of what top dbs are paid. With Malcolm we will be able to afford Collins and Hightower later on. Give the man a break.

Woaaaheasy on that talk. I'm not even sure he's a Pro Bowler yet though he definitely is considerable for a spot.

Let's get Collins Hightower and McCourty voted in there first instead of them getting snubbed like they have been every year.

Sorry, I tried to like your post of the Butler play but hit the wrong little icon on my iPad mini
EDIT: Fixed. Thanks for posting the play!

Yes. He was chasing Moncrief on a shallow crossing route. MB was a good 10 yards behind him in the middle of the field. As he was running for the 1st down towards the near sideline, MB caught him and make a textbook tackle stopping him short and forcing Indy to punt.

He was FLYING and was an equal pay to a pass breakup.

Yea I'm not quite there on the PB talk.

Hes been solid and will be better in Week 9 than Week 7 and better in Week 16 than Week 10.

Butler seems to be comfortable trailing receivers, so what looks to some like a lack of speed is actually confidence in his make-up speed. In other words, they're completely wrong, he's fast.
