No, you're all totally right, there is no reason people should talk about a CB who BB likes that is requesting a trade when our star CB is holding out. No relevance whatsoever to the Patriots or the team's messageboard.

And so what if people want to talk about FA and whether the Pats should sign them. Or trade for other players. Isn't that the point of the messageboard?

Maybe there should just be an Elitist Miserable **** forum and you could all make 9-page threads about the 2-gap system.

As for the thread, I think its highly unlikely NE shows interest in Winfield, but I would not complain about a deal that involved Winfield coming to NE for Samuel and a Day 1 pick.

So you still haven't managed to explain the need to come and piss in everyone elses threads. Wouldn't it be alot simpler to oh...say...ignore them? Instead you choose to raise a rukus, piss posters off and cause more headaches for Ian. It's whatever though, that's the reason I only post here like once a week.

okay so can i start a thread for? Trade for Champ Bailey? you can just ignore it..it will never happen or anything but lets start a thread for that.

Maybe it's just me, but I always find Alk to be one of the sanest and most rational posters on this board.

The only thing he makes a stink about are the Miserable Elitists *****. I have no problem with that, as the MEF crew constantly post in non-MEF threads with the express purpose of denigrating/belittling the merit of the thread.

So when I go into a thread wanting to talk about Antoine Winfield I have to wade through 20 posts of "Hey let's trade for Tomlinson".

It's pointless.

Btw, the same people posting in this thread that it is pointless to talk about trading for Winfield are the exact same people 2-3 months ago who said the same things in posts about trading for Randy Moss.

Wow, that's not a bad idea. As much as I like Asante, I don't think he is a premier player at his position. He's not in the same caliber as the top players at his position. Winfield is a better cover corner, but is weaker in run support, which the PAtriots do consider important, so I'm not sure they'd make such a move. Personally, I would, as it would get you fair value contractually at the corner spot for 3 years, while not having to pay Asante.

Winfield is one of BB's favorites, despite his small size the coach thinks he is one of the best run supporting CBs in the league. He would add a physical presence to the secondary.

Antoine Winfield plans to be at mandatory minicamps in early June.
Winfield skipped OTAs but told Vikings head coach Brad Childress he's not in search of a trade and teammates that he wants to stay with the team. The activities he didn't participate in are voluntary so its not a major problem.
