I agree and playing for his job with three different quarterbacks might have gotten into his head a little bit. I also agree that it could go either way at this point. The best thing for him right now would be a nice 5 catch 100 yard performance next Thursday. Confidence is everything playing the reciever position and having success with the starting quarterback in a regular season game would go a long way to helping him grow.

Yep.

He really hasn't played with any consistency for a year and 1/2. Not trying to make excuses as its a harsh business and he just needs to perform and produce but I think some of the Dobson-hate is a bit misguided.

I've noticed that as well. A fair critique of his play. Seems to back up and not come back to the ball when its thrown to him.

He needs to learn how to use his body better on jump balls and contested catches. This isn't something that can be taught as easily as route running, it's more of an instinctual thing. Fortunately for Dobson, there's hope he can improve this aspect of his game because we have seen other talented recievers enter the league without this skill and develop it over time. I hate to ever compare him to Moss, but Randy had auful technique in his first couple of seasons. It can be learned.

Dobson does not go after the ball aggressively, too often fights the ball when it arrives, and seems to go down earlier than necessary. I have not studied his blocking but his lack of physicality is worrisome. For these reasons, I don't think he currently looks like a great WR. But his competition is an undrafted FA and I doubt Dobson would make it to PS because of his draft position. Harper is smaller but seems more natural catching the ball and is more of a fighter. Tough call for me on Harper vs Dobson, because I have seen so little of Harper, but what I have seen I like and Dobson plays soft, which does not appeal. I hope Lafell is healthy and neither plays much.
This.
Play with some anger. Go after the ball like it belongs to you. God I hate the word "swagger", but Dobson has a severe deficiency of it. Get into a shoving match with a DB or something, show a pulse. He's like Ethan Hawke's character in Dead Poet's Society. One of the coaches needs to be his Robin Williams and get him to sound his barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world. The potential is there!

He seems like a cool cat. I hope he improves.

Pardon me, but your username combined with Dobson's description have me wondering.... do you have cat metaphors for everyone you come across? If so, I'd love to see a thread listing what you think of all of us! :)

Dobson frustrates me, like most Pats fans. What I like about him is that despite his inaction on the field, he appears to be getting better. However, nobody know to what extent. If he doesn't anny up, many will be content to taking their chances on another prospect, instead.

Dobson has the tools, he looks very athletic with the ball in his hands, he has great size and speed. He just needs to be more consistent. That comes with snaps...snaps he hasn't taken due to injury. He could also be more aggressive catching the ball. Dez Bryant OWNS the ball.....he should act like that as well.

Last night he looked the best I've seen him with the ball in his hands, YAC. He looks like he's added a little bulk since last year. He's not a rookie, and now that the QB situation has been resolved, look for him to contribute.

I dunno man... After the "Deflate-Gate" fiasco, we should all value solidarity. ;)

He looked like he was supposed to last night - more confident, physically stronger, and making good decisions most of the time. (I would have like to see him lower his shoulder on the 2nd down reception coming left-to-right, when he juked the safety and got brought down from behind short of the 1st down marker. Hopefully, that's a teachable moment, because after a couple years in an NFL weight room, he's big enough to pickup 1-2 extra YAC with some forward lean.) He's got tools that nobody else does and is showing signs that he might be able to use them. He gets another year to prove it.

I was unable to catch the first half the game due to other commitments. Does anyone have a link to a video or .gif of his catches? I really enjoyed the clips of Easley that were linked from the vine, and I'd like to see something similar for Dobson. Thanks!

I'd love Dobson to turn into the receiver the Pats need. The list of guys who are big, fast, and can't play WR in the NFL is long.

Well Dobson is entering his 3rd year. This is when most of the WRs who become anybody in this league have their breakout year. So this is pretty much his make or break year. Dobson, you're gonna need to step up kid! Really hoping he turns into a weapon for us this season.

I guarantee that Dobson will have a monster year and become that deep threat that we all desire. :D

If I am wrong then I will donate $50.00 to this website. ;)

So with Lafell on the mend and Wayne out, is Dobson starting at the X on Thursday night? It appears so to me. Thoughts and opinions?

DOBSONMANIA!!!!

140+ yards receiving and 2 tds vs the Steelers

I love it. Just another skill set to add to Gronk/Chandler and Edelman's. I've liked Dobson's talent since his rookie year. I never understood the love for Kenbrell, as he looked so out of control at all times. Now I hear some people saying similar things about Dobson but I disagree, I've always thought he's looked pretty fluid and comfortable as a wideout. I have high hopes for him.

gotta have ya kid....let's do this.
