“We started the season out there 2-2, and of course we got completely shellacked that Monday night out in Kansas City. It might be the worst beating I‘ve had as an owner and of course in the Belichick era it was the worst in the past 15 years,” Kraft said. “I know all the sages in the media were calling for us to trade Tommy [Brady] or sit him and [Bill] Belichick had lost it. Maybe in a way it was a good thing. It shook us up. In moments of crisis, you either rise to great things or you crumble. Our guys came together."

I like the 'sages in the media' line. LOL... gee, wonder who he had in mind with that...

Lookin' sage, boys! :)

I see is now..Krafty is listening to those two bozos and I'm sure had a few inappropriate, colorful metaphors floating around in his head.

Funny how he didn't mention how worried he was after the Jets game...

Great line by Kraft, and that's really all they are.

I think there were still questions/concerns at that point. Obviously that's what you were getting at.

Part of building a SB contended is dealing with adversity. You don't really know what kind of a team you have until you see how they deal with such situations. In this case, I think it's made the team stronger.

All they aren't. sarcasm. A sage is a wise man, not a Felcher.

You're right. I had it in my head that a Sage was a magician of sorts, turning nonsense into reality similar to how the media functions.

Definition fail.

You really can win with injuries, or in a patched up off year if you have it together as a team. 2001 Pats with training wheels Brady had no business winning, but the chemistry developed form the QB change, changed the personality of that tea.

Conversely, if the chemistry stinks, you're sunk, like BB said about the whining Adalius Thomas team.

That really was a cross roads game, we've go too much talent to get skunked like that.

Since they are getting singled out.... FTR, Mazz picked the Patriots big over the Bengals.

Most of us were worried. You'd be lying to yourself to say that you weren't. We hadn't looked very good at any phase of football going into the Cincy game. Since then, the OL has stabilized, Gronk has made a serious recovery, LaFell has finally gotten the offense, and Browner has come back. If all these things stay intact, just looking at the rest of the AFC, this is a Super Bowl caliber team quite easily.

Thats part of their shtick though. They know they are never held accountable for any of their predictions and it allows them to play both sides. They dump on them all week talking about all of Belichick's bad moves, Brady's decline, and Kraft's cheapness and then say they will still win so they can scream "They were supposed to win!".

So their shtick is to play both sides, and your shtick is to rag on them regardless of whether they were right?

It wasnt just Felger and Mazz that brought up the conversation of are "belichick and Brady past their time.." ( I mean its talk radio so what else are you going to discuss) but it was also many former players and TV personalities on NFL Network and ESPN saying the same thing and coming up with trade scenarios.

My shtick is to not care about their predictions because they are meaningless. They aren't coming from a position of analysis and insight. Frankly, its no different than if I predicted them to win big over Denver. I may have been right but it wasn't because I have some higher level of football acumen. You seemed to imply that Mazz should be given some sort credit for his prediction. I disagree. Such is life.

Four thoughts:

1) Not being "worried" after that game would have suggested a state of delusion.

2) There's a difference between being "worried" and "panicked."

3) The Jets game was a Divisional game and those games are inherently unpredictable. However, even though it was indeed a "Win," the game itself was unsettling in the context of the KC game and it was reasonable still to be "concerned" about where this team was going.

4) While the rest of the schedule is tough and a lot of factors from injuries to bad breaks and luck (and "Luck"!) will determine its final record, after the Chicago and Denver games, I am no longer "concerned" about where this team is going. Whether or not that's the SB, remains to be seen.

There is also a difference between "worried" and "concerned". I was certainly concerned after the KC game. But I also viewed it as potentially a good thing: either the team would pull together and get tougher, or things would get bad. I would have been "worried" if we had come out against Cincinnati and struggled, or worse, put up a lackluster effort.
