Chargers' Turner being pursued by Bills, Cowboys, Titans, Jets

Maybe I'm not surprised be the Jets, since Thomas Jones is getting older and they have a boatload of picks, but I'm really surprised to see the Cowboys interested. Are they trying to trade Julius Jones?

It surprises me that they are both interested.

Even though Thomas Jones isn't 22 he still has several productive seasons left and the guys backing him up are pretty serviceable. Add to the fact that they'd have to give up a first round pick when they have several other areas of need and I just can't see it.

As far as Dallas, are there any guarantees that Turner will be better than Julius Jones? Would a Turner-Barber backfield be much better than what they have now, especially when you take into consideration the trading of their first round pick?

Imo the Bill's are the likely candidate. Not that I agree to them giving up the 12th pick for him. I think it would be foolish. Turner doesn't play LB or CB does he? That team has alot of needs and must address it through the draft. If they were smart they'd hold onto that pick. Get Leon Hall or Willis and then draft Leonard in the 2nd. Then again look where the Bills are at. Smarts went out the window after 2002.

Agree on the Bills but I can't see why Green Bay isn't involved as far as we know yet. All accounts have them most likely targeting a RB in rd #1 and I would think Turner, with at the least a moderate level of success at this level would be a more known commodity than the #2 RB in the draft. Might even be cheaper to sign him to a long term deal than the 16th pick in the draft.

Why is everyone so high on Marshawn Lynch? I watched him run his 40 at the combine and I have to say he has a very awkward running style and I really don't think he's going to be successful in the NFL.

Hardly above patting myself on the back, I must mention that two weeks ago I wondered why Buffalo hadn't been mentioned as a Turner suitor - it makes too much sense for them. The Bills high number one, straight up for a power ball smashing RB with a some sort of a NFL track record? Such a move would make the team instantly better than just about any guy they could pick at number 12. When you consider that every player is a crap shoot, the premium of giving a high number one for what looks to be a legit NFL feature back who has experience picking up blitzes, catching the ball, and jamming the ball down the throat of teams as good as the Pats makes perfect sense. Instead of a "who really knows how this guy will work out" pick, the Bills would have a much greater certainy of nailing down a very productive player by going for Turner. personally, I hope the Bills decide against this deal because they'd be a major pain for years to come with Turner.

I thought you meant Norv Turner, which I realize would make no sense at all with the rest of your thread title. Still, throwing an RB, Burner or Michael in there would have made it immediately clear which Turner you were talking about. Burner Turner may be the best second banana back in the NFL, unless it's one of the Jacksonville RBs.

I don't think he's worth a number 12 pick, but I keep waiting for someone to suggest that the Patriots could do worse than to trade their pick at 28 in the first round and their third round pick for his rights. This assumes of course that they could sign him. I think he would be great as a replacement for Dillon.

I don't expect this to happen since they've already signed Morris, but I still think it would be a good move for the Patriots, if they could afford it.

I have already suggested it - and I agree it would be a stone cold solid move by the Pats. However, whatever the going price is for Turner it will be 50% higher for the Pats than to nearly any other team. After last year's bomb shell beating by the Pats in SD, the Bolts have no interest in aiding the Pats, whatever they get in return. The Charger's FO could just pack their bags if they had to watch Turner hammer the Pats to victory over the Bolts in next year's playoffs.

I disagree about Turner's value - a known product has much more value than a unknown with X amount of potential. Turner looks as good as other backs who've gone in the first + he's quite experienced.

Morris has no sort of the talent and skill of Turner, he couldn't be much of factor in the Pat's calculations if they somehow decided to move for Turner. It's more likely the Pat's just don't see the money being available at this point...
