Not resigning troy would be cold. He still offers value. He's worth the veteran minimum. They still need him. Get the one-year deal done.

I don't know if Troy is worth the league minimum. I always hate keeping aging veterans around just for nostalgic reasons. If the pats think he is going to help the team, and they can agree on a salary then great sign him. Otherwise, I hope he retires, but I won't be upset with either side if he ends up somewhere else.

On the keeping aging veterans around for nostalgic reasons, hows that working for Greenbay or the Celtics.

....

I say offer him a vet min contract, then PUP him. He's had off-season surgery and surely qualifies.

It isn't like he needs training camp. He's been to O, D, and ST meetings for years. Give him a contract, the summer off, and surely by week 9 we will have enough WRs and/or DBs hurt to activate him.

Space has the right idea here.
Good for each party.

I think if Troy thinks there's an excellent chance he makes the roster, he'll be back here.

But as I've said before, the guy hasn't made THAT much money in his life. Each year making $800K+ is still important to him.

Looking at his entire career earnings, including the money from his deals with TD Bank North, DD, etc., I'm not worried about Troy Brown's financial situation.
