LMAO. Maybe you dont realize it but you proved yourself wrong. Just cuz a wr isn't a league leader doesn't mean he isn't a dangerousrisonmaker. Numbers weren't there due to stuff like missing games but still they were feared playmakers more talented than short slow pipsqueak Nerdy Edelman.
I will not go through your entire post line by line but I do want to make a few quick point. First JMT is probably if not the most intelligent certainly one of the top five most intelligent posters on this board in terms of knowledge and presentation. I would not “LMAO” at anything he says because I am certain when he rights something it is well thought out. I am just saying this because I know you are new to the board and do not have a lot of insight of the posters.

Second Edelman is not slow, not even close to slow, take a look at his workout numbers, he ran the 3-cone in 6.62 seconds, a 10 yard split in 1.52, had a 36 ½ vertical, and 3.92 20-yard shuttle, everyone one of those metrics were significantly better than the top WR (Sammy Watkins) selected in this past draft.

40 Yard Dash: 4.52
20 Yard Dash: 2.58
10 Yard Dash: 1.52
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 14
Vertical Jump: 36 1/2
Broad Jump: 10'03"
20 Yard Shuttle: 3.92
3-Cone Drill: 6.62

The nerd comment, is just plain odd.

Chris Jones was the beneficiary of others disruption and schemed sacks. He is still OK however just not the feared defender his #s may suggest. But could be a gritty compliment to Dominique Easley passrushing. Easley should be even more of a beast than in college now that he can regain power in his lower body. He is targeting to play at 295-300 and lean. He isn't undersized by a long shot at around 297lbs. If he had typical DT belly he would be 311Lbs or so.

If he played to those #s he wouldn't struggle separating beyond 5 yards. Nor would they have signed Amendola to take Welkers spot. And yeah he has some game but far from a #1 wr

Edelman was fourth in the NFL in receptions and led all players with 50+ targets in target to catch ratio. He may not be an elite receiver but he did not struggle to get open, he got open without issue.

It seems very wrong to pick on our only successful wide receiver last year. IMHO, Edelman is a fine #2 receiver, and Amendola is fine in the slot.

Our obvious issue is the long ball and the red zone. We have Dobson, LaFell, Boyce and perhaps Thompkins. Of course, we also have Gronk.

I'm not a fantasy genius or schooled with entire knowledge/history of NFL players/coaches down to jockstrap size. But I'm pretty good at having an eye for talent and upside since my college days even when I wasn't the least bit scientific/detail oriented judging future NFL talent. Even my friends and s couple retired NFL players laughed at some predictions I made. Even a former scout (actually may still be a scout, haven't talked in yes) Even though I have bad eyesight lol. First off 3cones does not measure fluidity, quickness. I have seen peeps stiffer than a board tear that n the shuttle up.

Edelman has short area separation ability but its limited to short area. He would be a great#3 slot if there were 2 legit wr's in front of him. If we had a legit #1#2 Edelman would be unstoppable from short area passes his target success would be like 96% seriously. I got carried away insulting his talent,my issue is trying to make him the #1 and people acting like losing him in fa was like losing aj green. He is an elite #3 slot but if we had legit #1#2 lots of wr's could at least fill his shoes. Without missing much. Its just so frustrating worrying resigning a slot wr more than finding a legit #1. Then filling the slot would be much easier. Just like finding a franchise qb is much easier when you have a powerful oline and legit weapons. Ponder among other qbs who looked bad have potential to put points on the board consistently on a good offense in a good system. The rams won when they added a second pro bowl caliber wr, Rb,guard. When Warner stepped in everything was in place. Same can be said for Files.

We just need a legit #1 who can still win availabled 15 when the defense reads the play.I liked Lee(reminds me of Holt/Bruce Latimer and Marty Bryant who has an green talent but just needs some coaching. Matthews and Robinson are pretty good to. I dunno y we didn't sign Britt to a One yr prove it deal. Minimal risk huge reward. A new environment and coach known for disciplined structure could get Justin Black on on the field this yr maybe?? If Texans or cards fall from contention Johnson or Fitz could be available maybe for a #2 and Mallet? Brian Quick or Britt may become available? Maclin is on a one yr deal could become available?(must be careful he has his speed)We are a legit playmaking wr away from a championship. I'm worried Gronk gets hurt and the offense stalls Again in January when fixing the offense will be to late and its a long wait to following season. Who wants to see manning celebrate again after our wr's are shut down again.

I do not play fantasy football but I do know that it has nothing to do with combine metrics. It is not hard to look those things up and I would do so before I wrote a post diminishing his physical talents, otherwise your credibility is going to be questioned. That is not me being a **** that is just offering advice.

Edelman has a lot of upside, he was a college QB he has only been playing wide receiver for 5 years and last season was the first time he saw consistent reps, if you watched him over the final 6-8 games of the season he really began to evolve as a receiver. Will her ever be Calvin Johnson? Hell no! But he could potentially be as good as Welker if he continues to develop and grow as a receiver.

Gronkowski is our #1 receiving weapon. Edelman is #2, and the hope is Dobson can give us a threat on the outside that teams at least have to honor. After that LaFell and Amendola will mix in with Vereen as the #4, #5, and #6 options.

That makes Edelman our #1 wr. That's terrible. He has his strengths but we need a feared #1 wr. It opens everything up and even makes Gronk unstoppable as they can't focus on him. Instead defenses must focus on the wr who not only can torch them intermediate middle and outside the #'s but also a respectable breakaway threat. Makes Gronk that much better, makes Edelman better with more room underneath, makes vereen an afterthought to the defense that they will have to pay for severely. Just one legit wr makes the offense not just hopefully effective, but the ability to gash even dominating defenses. Not only that if Gronk is hurt again the offense is still dangerously effective. Besides at what point does injuries start to Rob Gronk of his skill set like Denario Alexander and Sydney Rice who at 27 is declined from injuries. Teams worked Rice out and want no part of him.

I'm playing cards in a little tournament a friend from work organized. Mostly redskin fans here couple ravens fans. Were talking some football and without me saying anything most acknowledge Brady as best and if we had a legit wr no team could even compete with us in afc especially if Gronk stays healthy to. And these are redskin fans saying that. Just one other fellow patriot fan here and she is from Connecticut working here to.

I refuse to even attempting to read this mass of ill written, un-punctuated, wrongly spelled, stream-of-consciousness, non-intelligent, gibberish. Organize what you want to say, or go back to the fifth grade and learn how.
It has been proven to you that fantasy WRs are not necessary to a Championship team, yet you persist in your idiocy.

Biased people like you living in a fantasy world repeat a cycle. Watch us get our butts kicked in playoffs. Get excited over wr talent in the draft. Come away with nothing in the draft. Convince yourself Edelman is a fine #1wr.Get over confident in june (like all delusional people) like all fanatics. Watch offense stall again. Talk bout how we add a playmaker in off season.

There is nobody grading grammer. Who has time to proofread to see if spell check made changes you didn't want. Obviously there's more for me to do than football. It doesn't crash my world to hear my team isn't the best or a player being sub par like its some kinda religion. Sorry it hurts so much for somebody to say Edelman is a #3.

Obviously everything you choose to believe is true benefits your team or you in general. I would love to win a championship but if wr's are shut down again I don't give a ****. I'll just stop watching the games. Pick up a couple more hot girls maybe :)

Good thing no one is grading your "grammer" or you'd be repeating the third grade for the fifth time in Grammar school.

I would just offer to go out with the teacher and she would pass me. :)

Ok, I was fine ignoring your endless yammering about how everyone has to lose 10-15 lbs of fat and add 10-15 pounds of muscle. Whatever, live your personal trainer fantasies here on a messageboard.

But Edelman is a bridge too far. The fact that he put up such great numbers while being the only guy worth stopping would be impressive even if you didn't have the added bonus of actually watching him play. If you had watched I don't think you'd be saying stupid stuff like he can't separate after 5 yards.

Now onto more important things. Imagine if Vince Wilfork lost 50 pounds of fat and added 50 pounds of muscle? Godzillatron.

I am excited to see how Jimmy does as a Patriot. :)

I am not one to normally pile on new posters, because sometimes it takes a few weeks to get used to keeping your mouth shut and your eyes/ears open a bit more, but one thing that I keep thinking when reading gymrat's posts on training regimens and weight/muscle ratios etc is that....we must not forget that we have excellent trainers, medical personnel, coaching staff, and exercise people on staff in Foxborough.

In other words, one can reasonably assume that if they really wanted Chandler Jones to bulk up, they'd have him doing so---with a quickness. I would assume that a professional NFL athlete could either lose or gain 10-15 pounds in a very brief period of time (a couple/few weeks), should Bill Belichick actually want them to.

I am sure that there is a standard in place during weekly weigh ins that demand how much muscle and weight is either added or lost, so all of our expert opinions are pretty much meaningless in this regard.

No offense to gymrat, or his thoughts on the matter. I do respectfully disagree with the constant pointing out physical fitness pluses/minuses in regards to each individual player though, as knowledgeable as he obviously is on the general subject of physical fitness.

Speaking of "Godzilla," I saw it tonight and thought that it was kind of boring and dry. Metacritic.com takes an all encompassing scale of all of the major reviewers in the nation and came up with a 68/100 score, but I can't really figure out why? I would have given it something around 55 to 60, tops.

I tried that in college, and I do not recommend it to anyone. There were some heated exchanges that followed until I was finished, and the whole process was terribly uncomfortable. I even managed to do it on a 170-175 lb, 5'9" frame to boot ;)

I agrree there are many ways to skin a cat. Belichcik knows however that in the day of the CAP you cannot have superstars everywhere.

He decided, quite rightly, IMO, that the money would barely spread to certain key positions. Namely QB, LOT, MLB, RDE, DT and CB and possibly CB2, S and RB.

Notice that WR is NOT included. Nice to have but probably unaffordable in the long run except on a rookie, or end of career, good money deal.

Keeping a fantasy WR just helps insure you don't have money for the really key players. So a Fantasy WR may actually be a hinderance!

Money isn't a factor if you draft better players.

The best way to build a team is through the draft, which is what we have done with the exception of Revis all of our other marquee players were draft picks.

Posters and fans want another Randy Moss. That is actually ignorance though, they look at the fact that we do not have a “WIDE RECEIVER” that is in the top ten in the NFL. The reality is we have Rob Gronkowski who is every bit as dominate when on the field as Randy Moss was for us. Gronkowski had 90 receptions, 1327 yards, and 17 touchdowns in 2011; he would have had similar numbers in 2012 and 2013 if not for injuries. I cannot think of a player outside of Calvin Johnson that can produce that much in the passing game for a team.

Essentially right now what people want equates to people back in 2007 complaining that we did not have Antonio Gates as our tight end.

Why is the draft inherently superior to other methods? If a particular trade or free agent signing makes a ton of sense how is it less valid or likely to succeed than drafting a player?

Also, I don't think fans necessarily want Moss, though it'd be tough to turn down an 07 Moss for the price we paid, they want someone who can reliably get separation, especially from press coverage, and effectively work the outside and deep zones.

Deep down, I think most of us do want another Moss. :) I'm willing to settle for the 2008 model. :)
