Depends.

Is Chad Jackson a bust? Does Washington have any talent?

Will the Patriots use a high draft on a WR?

if he gets 1200 yards, and 8 TD's.....does any of that matter? Do you give that up if Jacksons not a bust?

I don't think there's any doubt about it. His numbers are as good as Branch's and that's with Aaron Brooks as his QB most of his career. He's bigger, faster and almost as quick.

Now, that's talent. It doesn't mean he'll click with Brady and have the same feel for the Patriots' offense as Branch did. But pure talent ? Definitely.

He has all the talent, all the skills needed - no doubt. Now, will he have the dedication to learn this offense? Will he spend the inordinate amount of time it will take to click with Brady? Will he realize all his potential? Those are all the things he can control.....then, one more thing that he cannot control, can he stay healthy??

He has matured, he was a great teammate and talent to have around in Philly. His former teammates have said so and Andy Reid, in the middle of his troubles still found time to call him asking him to stay.

I say yes to all - this is going to be a terrific combination - mark my words.

So, given that he has, for all intensive purposes, a one year contract. What numbers does he have to get for us to pull the trigger on the rest of the contract?

800 yards?

1000 yards?

or..?
Given that Branch maxed out at 998 for us, if Stallworth gets that in his first season that would be good enough for me.

Washington might be the Mike Vrabel of the WR corps. Stuck behind two very good players with a team that under utilized him. Lets face it, you are not going to get many balls thrown your way if you are on the same team with Chad Jackson-=-ehh I mean Chad Johnson (sorry couldn't resist), and T.J. Whoseyourmomma. It will be interesting to see what he can do.

Stallworth is the deep threat that will keep safeties out fo the box.

Agreed. It's doubtful anyone questions Donte's talent and he's exactly what we need. The tricky part was the off-field cloud hanging over his head which the Pats addressed beautifully in his tailor-made,prove-yourself contract.

If you take everything to be true then the biggest knock on stallworth is he is not good in routing routes .Now the question arises how bad?.

Is he as bad as bethel or better .if so how better.

Funny thing is.... if he's so good why did the Saints trade him?

I think he has great potential and had one better than average season last season, but until he produces the jury is still out.

He actually has had two better than average seasons. In 2005 he had 70 catches for 945 yards and 7 touchdowns.

He became expendable to the Sainst after the emergence of Colston and they needed to trade someone because they were desperate for LB's.

for all intensive purposes

He he he.

I know it's not a grammar or spelling board, but that's a pretty good one.

Intensive purposes? A purpose that's real intense, I guess.

Sorry, not trying to be a jerk (which I will prove by putting in a smiley face: :) But that's just real funny, for all intents and purposes.

you cant really count "the emergence of colston" as a reason why stallworth was traded....since stallworth was traded to the eagles before the season started...(i think, since i did see his long td against the texans in week 1)

and also...fans and experts put stallworth to be potentialy the best wr TB has ever thrown to since glenn in 01, also ahead of branch, because of the expectations he had coming into the league....stallworth wasnt a 2nd round pick or 3rd etc. he was a top 15 overall (at #13 by the saints) pick in the 1st round of the 02 draft...some say he has yet to prove himself, to be an elite wr, well i woudlnt blame him if he had aaron brooks for most of his career

imo - this year: brady to stallworth will be a lot like culpepper to moss of the late 1990's and early 2000's

That's a fairly common mistake, irregardless of what you may think.

Well, yeah, but I was going with WR on the team when Brady was actually playing :)

Wasn't Brady's first NFL TD pass to Glenn? I thought it was. Either way, it's a helluva trivia question.

What I like the most about this signing (now that I know per Peter King) is that Brady was a big part in Donte deciding to sign with the Pats.

b. He said, "Directly and indirectly, Tom Brady had an awful lot to do with Donte' Stallworth signing with the Patriots. They were text-messaging each other constantly. They're going to have a tremendous relationship. They're both really excited about working together.''

Yes you can. Colston's emergence was in training camp when he won a starting job.

NFL Network had an Eagles/Giants game on Replay yesterday so I DVR'd it and only watch Philly's offense so I could watch Stallworth. His routes didn't seem that bad.

What did seem bad were his hands. It wasn't cold or windy that day and twice he had Madison beat and dropped balls. McNabb hit him in the hands on the correct side both times.

Troy had 80 some catches in 2000, 105 in 2001 and 90 some catches in 2002. I'd say Troy has to have some pretty damn good talent to do that three straight years. So I'll go with Troy.

Pedant. HTH.
