Glib to the point of being meaningless.
The Patriots, without Tom Brady, went from being the (at the time) greatest offense of all time and 16-0 to 11-5. With a weaker schedule than the year before.
Meanwhile the Colts went from 10-6 to 2-14. I don't know their comparative strength of schedule.
But what I see are two teams who both took tremendous hits without their QB. I'd welcome any further analysis on this that is more than just citing records and pointing a finger at the bigger number because SoS, roster turnover - these things matter.
We've gone over that enough that I'll let others do most of it, but I just think one example of "things matter" is this:

That was the direction the Colts were heading in, even before Manning to hurt.

That's the record the Colts had in Luck's rookie year. The difference from Manning to Painter was less than the difference from Painter to Luck. If people want to look only at the records, Andrew Luck > Peyton Manning.
