Lots of uncertainty regarding whether we will have the ability to re-sign minitron. If he does in fact walk, who on this list do you see as affordable alternatives?

I wonder if the Pats will take a second shot at Sanders.

List from Rotoworld:
Top free agent WRs.

1. Eric Decker
2. Jeremy Maclin
3. Hakeem Nicks
4. Julian Edelman
5. Golden Tate
6. James Jones
7. Anquan Boldin
8. Andre Roberts
9. Emmanuel Sanders
10. Riley Cooper
11. Danario Alexander
12. Jacoby Jones
13. Dexter McCluster
14. Brandon LaFell
15. Kenny Britt
16. Damian Williams
17. Jerricho Cotchery
18. Ted Ginn
19. Jerome Simpson
20. Jacoby Ford
21. Robert Meachem
22. Austin Collie
23. Andre Caldwell
24. Santana Moss
25. Marc Mariani
26. Josh Morgan
27. Mario Manningham
28. Darrius Heyward-Bey
29. Domenik Hixon
30. Devin Hester

Jeremy Maclin or Riley Cooper.

I think Riley Cooper is a young and physically gifted WR if you can get past his prior racial incident.

Emmanual SAnders and Austin Colliepowers. THrow in Cotchery too for the money Edelman would want.

Realistically?

Sanders.

Decker or Boldin.

This is being stated without knowing each guy's asking price as of yet on top of the moves the Pats will undoubtedly make to free up cap room. That said...

Give me Boldin, give me James Jones, give me Maclin, give me Sanders, give me Nicks, give me Cotchery, give me Tate, give me Cooper, and/or give me Ford.

Riley cooper is a JAG as a WR2 who was somewhat productive in a great offensive system. He did nothing his first 3 years in the league and his year this year wasn't anything special.

47 receptions 835 yards 8 TDs is ok as a WR2, considering he got 139 yards 3 TDs in the Raiders game alone. He's not that good IMO, I wouldn't want him starting for us.

The only WR that's an upgrade over Edelman really is Anquan Boldin. This class is weak.

I typically have no tolerance for racially biased insensitive events, but given the details of Cooper's transgression, his seeming lack of prior issues in that area and his teammates seeming forgiveness, I wouldn't hold it against him. Of course, I'm saying that as a white person and might feel differently if I were African-American. His remorse just seemed unusually genuine to me, but who knows for sure other than Cooper himself?

Amendola
Dobson
Cotchery
Thompkins
Boyce
Collie

Gronk
Niklas/Amaro/Ebron/Austin Seferian-Jenkins (someone available in round 2)

If Marquise Lee or Sammy Watkins fall to the Patriots in round one, I reserve the right to change my mind. :D

I agree. I don't get the Cooper love.

For me, I guess Maclin or Sanders. Cotchery would be a great vet addition.

E Sanders makes most sense to me though I think he'll become too expensive. Maybe Cotchery?

When Edelman walks we shouldnt go to crazy I say Let Amendola replace Jules and bring in Hester for KR and PR duties.

IMO with or without Jules there are only 2 needs on offense TE2 and interior OL. WR is irrevelant Brady can work with anyone and he has 3 young kids and Amendola to work with. Not to mention Vareen. I would love Jules back but dont see it as a need nor do I see a FA WR as need.

I cant say this enough this team is so close right now I think the most important thing is for them to improve internally. 3 straight draft classes have been pretty good and the success of this team rides on their continued improvement more than anything other than TB12 himself and Gronks health.

Any money we do spend should go to interior OL, TE2, pass rush, safety, and LB depth.

Passing weapons for Brady as is:
Gronk
Vareen
Amendola
Dobson
Thompkins
That is 5 solid weapons and if all are healthy and if Thomkins and Dobson continue to improve then Brady has more than enough to work with.
That still leaves Brady with:
Boyce - we didnt see as much from him as KT and Dobson so I dont rely that much on him but not giving up either.
TE2 - I noted this as need especially for this player to be able to contribute to the passing game.

That is a lot of talent and I think it is a fallacy that WR1 is the most important part of this offseason. Not even sure that retaining Jules should be done.

Amendola
Dobson
Cotchery
Thompkins
Boyce
Collie

So, Cotchery over Sanders for you. Is that because of expected cost, or do you think he'd be a better fit? Maybe a better red zone target?

Cotchery can come in and be the WR3/WR4 without an ego issue, should be less expensive, and isn't overrated.

Sanders thinks he's a WR1/WR2 when he's more like a subpar WR2 or a WR3, he'll want to be overpaid for the role, and he'll be unhappy about being option 5-6 in on the chart.

Gronk
Amendola
Dobson
Vereen
TE2(?)

Just my take. Plenty of others seem to disagree.

Donario Alexander

I'm fine with either Maclin/Sanders at the right price. I suspect Maclin will be paid well since he's been a career high end WR2 and is only 26 years old. Sanders still has some upside in him too but I have no idea what his price range will be.

Cotchery is the perfect signing since he's been dependable and should be affordable. I could see him pulling a Gaffney if Dobson/Thompkins fail for whatever reason. Good depth WR signing.

Thinking over the WR position the last three weeks, I've been more in favor of believing in Dobson/Thompkins. Dobson was getting into a groove after a bad start and before his foot injury. After playing horribly at the beginning of the season, KT started to come on, got benched, then came back and played well vs. Denver. His hip/concussion injuries did him in. The homer in me wants me to believe these two can be our WR1/WR2 next season. :)

He was drunk, not that it makes it okay by any means but, he's far from a problem child because of it.

That seems to be my take, as well.
