Mike Freeman has published a devastating article on Tebow's ability to play a QB or any position other than blocker in the NFL, CFL or even arena League Football.

"Tebow's skills have eroded so quickly, so shockingly fast—think heavy boulder dropped from low orbit—that it has actually stunned several scouts who have watched him closely for years."

"The reason why is speed..............That lack of speed is evident in three critical phases of Tebow’s game: His throwing motion, his mental acuity and his ability to avoid tacklers."

Freeman adds: "Patriots coach Bill Belichick says Tebow is improving, but no one believes that. There's no way even Belichick believes that. Barring a transplant of Bart Starr's mitochondria into Tebow’s synapses, what we are seeing with Tebow is the end."

Wow. Tell us how u really think!

What do u think? Is BB an outlier in his assessment of Tebow?

Saying he isn't NFL material is legit criticism but when someone says he couldn't even succeed in the CFL, then I have to question that person's intelligence. Tebow, like so many other mobile quarterbacks who excelled in college, would excell in the CFL.

Finally, a thread about Tebow.

Cfl is a throwing league. Lots of passing. Tebow can't throw.

Cfl is a throwing league. Lots of passing. Tebow can't throw.

However there is a HUGE gulf in terms of skill level at QB needed to excel in the respected leagues.

Tebow can throw, but has accuracy issues and doesn't break the game down fast enough at this level. The CFL game is far less complex and is filled with players who aren't at the standard that the NFL requires.

He could do well there.

Freeman is an ass. The quality of this article is deplorable.

Warren Moon ( who played in Canada and won MVPs up there ) says Tim couldn't cut it in the CFL because he can't throw....

Joe Theismann (ditto) echoed Moon's opinion.

You have to pass up there. Tebow can't do that very well.

Moving past the second part of your sentence, how can the first possible relate to the second? It's strange to say he can throw but has accuracy issues. If you have accuracy issues, from where I stand, you certainly can't throw.

I don't know about you guys but I really got hung up on this part. Freeman's science education is really lacking.

On to Tebow talk. As bad as Tebow did look, someone should show him the famous 2008 preseason footage of Matt Cassel. Not that he didn't look bad, but Freeman's missing contrary evidence otherwise.

I'm not too big into using a Bleacher Report article and calling it a devastating assessment. That said, Cassel didn't look as bad as Tebow in 2008. The guy threw for negative yardage against third stringers for God's sake.

Re: Devastating assessment of Tebow's fitness to play in the NFL, CFL or Arena Footba

Hater's gotta hate.

Freeman needed face time, has an agenda, and cobbled together a spittle-flecked screed. He's throwing red meat to the Tebow haters in order to get PR support.

As noted, a perusal of threads from this very site dealing with the 2008 pre season would show the same sort of criticism and hate of Matt Cassel.

I'll trust Coach Belichick's judgement on the matter. He's the one with the real day to day info, and sees Tebow up close. Whatever he decides, I'll respect, especially over the word of some hack.

Re: Devastating assessment of Tebow's fitness to play in the NFL, CFL or Arena Footba

As to Kontra's point, Freeman just moved to Bleacher Report and is likely looking for some attention. Tebow talk is a good way to get there.

The Bleacher Report is not proof positive of anything. The CFL has already spoken on the issue, and they do not appear to share that view. Not a glowing statement of "he would play" as a QB, but not a statement from the CFL that he cannot play in the CFL.

From Florida, to Denver, to the Jets to the Pats - all very different systems. How does one measure regression? He has been lousy for the Pats to be sure (and I don't disagree that he may never be a QB outside college as his past performances for the Pats are a pretty strong case for that), but how is that a regression (he was completing 46.5% of his passes as a starter in Denver)? And I do find it odd that this comprehensive assessment comes from anonymous 'scouts' who decline to put a name to the assessment.

Re: Devastating assessment of Tebow's fitness to play in the NFL, CFL or Arena Footba

Being up here in Canada, I could tell you he would struggle. The wider field calls for a strong, accurate arm. The 12th player on the field creates different defensive looks and formations that require QBs to be able to read and react to what the defenses are giving them. Each Canadian team has a quota of Canadian players, many of whom are Offensive linemen who dont match up well with american DL. QBs have LESS time to make a read and make a throw than in the NFL. You just dont see the 7-8 seconds in the pocket that we see on occasion in the nfl. Not only would he be a poor fit, I would dare to say that it would be a worse fit than the nfl.

Re: Devastating assessment of Tebow's fitness to play in the NFL, CFL or Arena Footba

Plus, it's a bit ingenuous to refer to the perceived abilities of any team without taking into account the parts around him.

Bledsoe was a pretty darned good QB, and I have said that he probably could have done better here if he had a better O-line in front of him. He wasn't near as mobile as Brady (and that's saying something) and as such, because of the weaker O-line, spent a lot of time hurrying throws, trying to make something happen, before he was put on the turf.

I'd be VERY interested in seeing how Tebow might do if he could play a quarter with the starters. THAT would say more about his abilities than what we've seen to date.

Re: Devastating assessment of Tebow's fitness to play in the NFL, CFL or Arena Footba

The CFL is much more a passing league than the NFL. Tebow just wouldn't fit.

in 2008 Cassel was a 55% passer through 4 games

Right now tebow is sitting at 26.3% Cassel completed more passes in each of his last 3 games(he only attempted 4 in very short work during the first week) individually, then tebow has completed through 2 games combined.

Tebow played over 2 quarters and through for -1 yard.

Comparing Tebow to Cassel(2008) is like comparing catfood to filet migon from the old country buffet, its not very good, but its still way better then catfood.

How about lets not waste the starters time running 42 draw plays and instead let them keep working with actual quarterbacks.

I was wondering, how do helmets function with Canadians' flapping heads?
