It's easy, and only takes a few moments. In 2011, he had 7.5 sacks (a career high), 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 INT, 5 pass defenses, and 41 tackles. That is an Pro Bowl/All Pro caliber performance. You don't actually have to be voted as a Pro Bowl or All Pro to have a Pro Bowl or All Pro caliber performance.
He was a stud in 2011 (I just listed his stats). He had a down year in 2012. No one knows if he has hit the age wall, had a down year, didn't fit into the Raiders' scheme, or something else.
Kelly arguably had two of his best seasons in the last three years and people act like he has sucked for years.
I haven't talked about Welker or the Patriots cheapness for a while just because that thread is always on your mind doesn't mean Im any more right or wrong then you Lord Shmessy. Hilarious how your response to me is to bring up stuff that I never said in this thread.
Ooh nice snark there I'm the most clueless person on the board because I don't agree with you. Maybe you should realize everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Don't waste your time. Brady2Moss never heard of the guy.
There's only one person in this thread so far that's been acting like he's been a bum ever since he's been in the league. On the polar opposite side of the coin, people are now overplaying his 2011 performance while underselling his 2012 performance.
As for his play last season, I don't think it had anything to do with scheme. I just think that his best days are definitely behind him. Doesn't make it a bad signing, but pimping his 2011 performance doesn't somehow make a great one. As I said, I still hope that the team has plans to upgrade the DT position. Right now, I'm setting my expectations at a Gerard Warren level. Others seem to be setting it at a Vince Wilfork level and one guys seems to be seeing it at an Albert Haynesworth level.
Eh. I don't like siding with Brady2Moss, but his play last season, to me at least, was indicative of a guy on the decline more than it was about a guy mailing it in. I wouldn't go so far as to call him a bum. He's definitely not bum status right now. Instead, I'll just say, "Welcome to the team, Mr. Kelly. Mr. Belichick, hopefully you still have plans to upgrade the DT position".
I will just agree to disagree then. My point is that guys don't usually severely decline in productivity at age 32 because of mailing it in or not liking the playoff status of their team. I didn't even say its a horrible signing just said its meh doesn't mean it wasn't worth a shot. Just not going to say MAN WERE GONNA HAVE A MONSTER INTERIOR LINE because of fluff reasons like his head will be on straight here.
I'm more concerned with where Kelly is at today than where he was 2 years ago. And once the contract details are public knowledge we'll also know how the Patriots feel about his chances at a roster spot as well. His past season was lackluster at best. Being on the west coast and seeing plentiful Raider games in my region I can definitively say nothing in his tape was impressive last season. His decline years could potentially have set in 2012.He was a stud in 2011 (I just listed his stats). He had a down year in 2012. I didn't agree with Kontradiction either and noted that, however he gave a reasoned post - - not your "Kelly is a bum" graffitti. So you are clueless about "agreeing" with an opinion.
There are reasoned opinions on all sides of an issue. And then there is graffitti. Kontra wrote a reasoned post. You write graffitti.
Nice hyperbole. Clearly I said he's been a bum his whole career I said he's a bum at this point, maybe he'll string together one good year I'm sure as hell not counting on it like some.
Dillon and Moss say hi. Err, so does that former $100 million dollar washed up dt guy too from the Titans.
No, what you are being is a **** for your relentless negativity on every move the Pats make.I haven't talked about Welker or the Patriots cheapness for a while just because that thread is always on your mind doesn't mean Im any more right or wrong then you Lord Shmessy. So which is it? Is he a bum who is mailing it in or a guy who hit the age wall. You seem to be all over the place.
Players can have an one year decline for any number of reasons. There was a regime changed before this season. He might not have fit Dennis Allen's system.
The Kelly signing has a potential of a Rodney Harrison (another guy in his early 30s who was written off because of one bad season), Ted Washington, Roman Phifer (another older guy written off as done) type of signing. He might turn into nothing.
I think if the Pats can use him right, he might turn into a stud pass rushing specialist.
I don't get after one bad season people are automatically writing him off as either a bum or done.
As much graffiti as is to say we're going to have some beast d line because of this guy.

And of course you're not counting on it. I'm not surprised. The team could develop of time machine, sign Reggie White in his prime, and you'd still crap all over it.
