The Steelers offered Wallace less than 3M this year and he wants 12M+?

Thats about as far apart in contract negotiations that is possible.

according to @incarceratedbob, The Pats are among 3 teams in negotiations with Wallace. The guy is completely hit or miss but don't kill the messenger.

Incarcerated Bob can say whatever the hell he wants, but since Wallace reportedly wants 15 million a year, I can guarantee you that the NE Patriots are laughing as they hang up the phone.

A contract MORE than the 120 million signed by Larry Fitzgerald? Please..that's the silliest and sadest thing I have heard in a while.

If I'm PIT, I'd want someone to sign him now, so that I'd at least get a 1st rounder--knowing that he'll definitely be gone at the end of the season.

He wants more than 15+ million a year.

Fitzgerald signed an 8 yr/120 million deal. Wallace wants a deal more than that.

Maybe, but someone will pay it.

Really???

You honestly and truly believe that someone will pay Mike Wallace more than Larry Fitzgerald, and more than 15 million per year?

Like rob mentioned, he'll likely get around 11-12 million a year, which is still insane; but 15 million per and 120 million+ is not going to happen anywhere in the NFL.

You'd think we were talking about Calvin Johnson here.

That also tells you that its his last year in Pittsburgh unless he is franchised because Pittsburgh isn't paying that.

Arians wasn't brought back because the Rooney clan wants to get to a more traditional Steeler offense.

If this comes to fruition, Wallace numbers will be even less. That makes the whole numbers request quite perplexing.

He isn't worth Vincent Jackson money.

The 3 million is an offer sheet deal with restricted free agents. The 3 million is not what they'd offer him as a free agent.

It was simply to tie him up. The last thing they want is someone to actually pay him because they know he'll go. The idea behind paying him a one year deal is it would be slightly more than the tender and it would mean they wouldn't be faced with a dilemma of having to match an offer they can't mathematically match. They are desperate to have him under contract so they can offer him more next year or tag him.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Patriots reached out to Wallace but, if those really are his demands, then he's deluded and the Pats will not pay that.

They may even have to get rid of Wes Welker in order to pay him because you can't have Welker sitting on the tag at what he's on then ahve the Pats pay more for someone unproven int he system. IMO I don't think he'll have much trouble with the system but that problem still lies. You'd have to Pay Welker more than Wallace to make him happy and then you're tying up $15-20 million in two WRs....stupid!

I said a while ago it has to be one or the other. Still the case.

Too much. Maybe if he was to get close to Larry's level.

5 years for 50 sounds about right. That what's Desean got.

no way in hell pats even come close to getting him now that we have heard how much he wants..pats should just look the other way..don't even bother..he isn't worth that..not even close

It's not really a "real" offer. It's the minimum amount, mandated by the CBA, that they were required to offer him to secure 1st round compensation if another team signed him as an RFA.

Obviously on a long-term deal they would be willing to offer him more, but Wallace wants to test the market.

They don't need to sign him. They just needed to make him the offer, which they did, and account for that offer as part of their cap total this year.

If another team signs him then Pitt. will get their 1st round pick. (and get back $2.7 mill in cap space for this year).

Wallace isn't a UFA, if he was traded he wouldn't have any choice but to hold out if he didn't want to play here. Only thing Ocho could do is ask him to play for less money like he is.

Chad can't even actually describe what it's like playing football with Brady, he never did.

You lost me somewhere..

"Who" just needed to make him the offer? I certainly understand the whole aspect of how the RFA tendering process works. Maybe you are thinking of someone else?

All I'm saying is that if I'm Pittsburgh I may rather see someone else take him away this yr, so that they can at least get a 1st round pick in return.

By all accounts, Wallace will not be playing for the Steelers in 2013, when he will be a URFA and wanting this supposed extreme pact. At that point in time, Pittsburgh will not be looking at getting anything back except the usual comp pick, which will probably be about a 4th rounder or so.

The situation for Pittsburgh now becomes the difference between a 1st round pick and nothing but a low round comp pick, for Mike Wallace's 2012 season. That's why I suggested that it may actually work out better for them if someone makes him an offer that they don't want to match.

If the Cincinnati Bengals weren't such a cheap organization, Mike Wallace would be a good fit with Andy Dalton and A.J. Green.

My thoughts exactly.

As soon as everyone in the media began making a big deal about their supposed "50 million +" in cap space this year, the first thing I thought was 'they'll be lucky if Mike Brown spends even 1/2 of it.'

I suspect that he will take advantage of his one last year before the cap floor kicks in next season.

That all said, whomever started (or ran with) the rumor that Wallace was being looked at, claimed that NE, SF, and CIN all were interested. However, I just don't see them ponying up the loot to get it done.

If you were a Bengals fan, think of the offensive possibilities:

QB - Andy Dalton
WR - Mike Wallace, A.J. Green
TE - Jermaine Gresham

Now if Trent Richardson fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2012 NFL Draft (pick acquired from the Oakland Raiders) ..........
