Would you be in favor of adding Tebow to the Pats

Has anyone considered the thought that if Tebow were to be traded to New England that the writing is on the wall that Josh McDaniels is a major influence in what would be the second player coming here that has a McDaniels connection because Josh McDaniels is going to be the next head coach and he's already setting up his guys here?
Think about it. Brady and Belichick retire in 3 years and presto...McDaniels is coach and the guy he used a 1st rd pick on is now ready to step in and start.
I think you can actually bank on this happening because usually where there's smoke there's fire.

This has been my worst nightmare ever since the Pats chose to bring him back after he failed miserably, not only in his first stint as a HC, but also as the Rams' offensive coordinator.

The only smoke that I see is coming from wood burning between people's ears. Too much money to happen.

1. This thread hurts my head. I like Tebow just fine, as long as he plays for someone else. He's a good human interest story and he's fun to root for. Doesn't mean I want him QB'ing a team that I pay a reasonable sum to for tickets/parking/concessions.

2. The speculation on 98.5 was that the Pats had something Denver wanted. What could that be and why would NE deal it? Clearly, Denver will value Tebow more than a seventh.

Last week Felger speculated that he was certain that the Marshall trade was made at Manning's direction and therefore he was clearly going to Miami - which of course aside from the JETS made the most sense to Felger all along...

Listening to 98.5 destroy braincells.

.

Great first post - daydreams of Tebow and McDaniels replacing Brady and Belichick.

That would be the worst possible scenario I could think of - my own personal hell.

Stop the Insanity!

Yeah but I used to be a Vikings fan back when I lived in MN. They did this constantly so it seems like habit now even if it never worked out.

For the money I think it would be clear who the starting QB was intended to be, however the reality is you'd be stuck with either a quality QB who doesn't win or a non-quality QB who doesn't seem to lose.

Even still, that scenario makes FAR more sense to me than bringing Tebow here. We're not going to pay him a QB salary to be a halfback, so he'd have no place here without a massive salary cut. I doubt he has taken the vow of poverty.

He's not coming here. He's not staying in Denver. That leaves 30 alternate choices. The JETS would be worse for him and them than Manning... He'd draw in Florida. The CFL would probably love him. He makes more money off the field than on it anyway, the culture of celebrity.

It was meant as a reminder to Tebow's followers that he's not the genuine article and he shouldn't be treated as such.

And yet you didn't say "he's not the genuine article and he shouldn't be treated as such." but framed it in biblical language. Anyway, not important. What is important is that I don't think "Tebow followers" think of him in those terms. I like Tebow, I think he can do a job for the Pats and I think the F.O might be interested for the right price. That doesn't mean I think he forces Brady out of a job, it just means that there is a logic to him being a fit for the Pats (at the right price). BB loves creating mismatches - if anyone can find a way to involve Tebow, it would be him.

Tebow "haters" are way more obsessed about Tebow than his followers.

Rumor is Denver wants Mallett to learn under Manning.

Sourth? :)

Mallett trade value > Tebow trade value.

Mallett to Donkeys with Manning > Mallett to other teams

Makes a lot of sense for them. One question though. How many times did they pass on Mallett in the draft last year? Four times. Not sure they love Mallett that much.

Tebow and the Patriots

So, as of right now, the Patriots are set at QB with Brady, Hoyer, and Mallet, right? John Clayton thinks Tebow could end up in New England, but they already have enough QBs right?

Well, if Hoyer isn't snagged by another team that is true.

However, what are some of the things that the Patriots like to do with the Kevin Faulk and Danny Woodhead types? They can run out of the backfield, and they can catch out of the backfield.

What are some of the things that have made Tebow so effective? His passing ability? Nope. It's his incredible strength (he's strong as an ox), shiftiness, and vision to find holes. He has a great running ability. Heck, Denver even designed an offense after those abilities.

Why couldn't he play in the backfield for the Patriots? You could even split him out, and in fact I'm sure BB and Josh could find all kinds of ways to exploit his skill set.

I'll admit the attention he'll bring to the team might diminish their interest, but I'd love to know what the rest of you Patfanners think. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? We've plugged alot of holes so far, but we haven't plugged anything in the backfield yet.

I'm just throwing it out there for your input, so don't rip me for the query.

There is no logic to him being a fit in New England, he doesn't fit here for a variety of reasons that have all been covered in this thread.

The first thing they must teach you at the Church of Tebow is to call anyone who disagrees with you a Tebow hater and claim they're the ones obsessed. Because it's the same comeback time after time.

I come here to discuss the Patriots, if people want to endlessly talk Tebow than please go hereTim Tebow Forum - Topix and leave us to discuss our team

And there was me thinking this is a Tim Tebow thread. I have no problem with you thinking that there is little logic to the Patriots trading for Tebow. By and large I agree with you, I'm just exploring the rationale should it happen and pointing out that there are logical reasons why it might. But so far you have referenced "false idols", his "followers" and the "Church of Tebow" and you claim not to be obsessed by his faith. I'm happy to engage on a logical level, just leave the meaningless religious digs behind.

I think it was Zo, or who ever was on with him today. My point was really that what would the Broncos covet that NE has and they would possibly part with? Mallett? I agree that it was hyperbole on the radio. It makes no sense for me to have him come here at this time.

OK give us some logical reasons then. And paying someone guaranteed millions to try another position or take Brady off the field don't qualify as logical. Neither does acquiring a QB who can't play in their system.

I'm having a little fun with the faith issue because it's the only explanation why people go bat**** crazy for this kid, it's certainly not because of his quarterbacking abilities.

I am going to be honest, I only read a few pages of this but here are my thoughts on Tebow and the Patriots.
1. I think the BB would love to have Tim Tebow on his team, other than the fact that he cannot play QB, he has shown to have that "it factor" quality that so few people possess and he has the ability to motivate and unite players to make them better than they probably are.

2. That being said, I doubt BB realized what kind of circus would follow Tebow around. His ability to engage his teammates has gone far beyond and created a cult like following off the football field that would be way too disruptive for BB locker room. The constant questions toward BB and toward TB would be too much. That negative outweighs his positives right there

3. How do you use him? Obviously he would not be playing QB here, but would BB want to create a sub package like Denver was running? I think we all feel BB is too smart to take his best player (TB) off the field so we can run an option offense that he himself showed the rest of the NFL how to defend in last years playoffs. Does he play H-back/TE? Again, do you want to start to take away snaps from Aaron Hernandez to get Tebow on the field, I wouldn't.

Just because McDaniels drafted him and BB most certainly liked him coming out of college, his dynamic personality is almost too big to have on a team that prides itself on no one individual player, and for that, I say it will not happen.
