Celebrating is what you do in the dressing room after the contest. It's fine to be jacked up that they missed a field goal, run over the field and jump and holler but don't give the other team ammunition for the next time. If Hobbs did what he did, then he made a mistake. That's not what this organization is all about. Hey, after Willie stopped Edgerin a couple of y.ears ago, did he run to the center of the field and start doing histarics ala Peyton. No he ran to the center of the field excited - that's it. I suggest you get a life and change your name to Merriman Manny - becuase you obviously believe taunting is OK.

Nothing wrong with celebrating the win. LT's problem was with a player mocking them in the middle of their field after such a hard fought (by both sides) and emotional game. After a game like that both teams should show respect to each other. That was a war by two teams filled with great warriors.

Yeah I just saw the interview with LT. He was really upset. I guess he just found out that not all players are as classy as he is.

He basically said he felt disrespected that they were being mocked by the Pats player doing Merriman's sack dance in the middle of their field after the win and that he would never do anything like that to an opponent.

Yes, I do think taunting is OK, because it is. Because it's sports and taunting happens, and it's not classless. There is a line at some point, but the line falls well short of mocking another team's jacka** dance.

I don't have a problem with Merriman's antics, he looks like a complete ******, yes, but what I do have a problem with is that he is a cheater.

Look, by your stringent definitions, McGinest's running to the center of the field after the Colts victory more than qualifies as classless, as does all our Eagle arm flapping dances, Deion Branch waving towels in Pittsburgh or making snow angels in the end zone.

The Pats are not above these things nor should they be, everyone get the hell over it, we won, enjoy it.

Supposedly Hobbs ALSO gave the SD bench the "CHOKE" sign after the missed FG. If he did do that, it was classless and Hobbs should have to apologize for that. We aren't a team of Shawne Merriman's who show our "class" by showing up on National TV in a wife beater. We are supposed to be the Patriots who win with style and class.

What LDT did was just as classless, though.

Completely different. I am not even a Sauerbrun fan, but we signed him long after his issues. Merriman tested positive WITH the Chargers, and consistently blames it on the supplement company instead of himself. Sauerbrun admitted he made some stupid mistakes. Get over it, you lost. And using the excuse that he's "just a punter" is faulty logic. All week we've been listening to Merriman and his "smack" talk.
There was a play in the 1st half where Merriman hit Brady after he had thrown an incompletion.

What did Mr.Steroids do???

He waved his arms,as if he had actually MADE a sack.

This is classless and Hobbs was just making note of the fact that,if you celebrate without having done anything to deserve it........you better back it up.......if not,you're fair game for ridicule.

You are emotionally hurting and comparing apples to oranges here. Your exact words are "he cheated just the same" when, in fact, it was presented to you that Sauerbrun did not cheat in the "SAME" way, and, in fact, that there was a substantial difference in the class of drug(s) found via testing, AND in the fact that Merriman was WITH the Chargers when he openly cheated, whereas Sauerbrun was with another team. Regardless of the technical mistakes, there is the point that cheating is cheating is cheating irregardless of the circumstances, so I think your point is well taken, although the way you are presenting it is flawed.

guess that's a side effect of letting go of so many still-serviceable vets.
i remember having a guy like that on our HS team, a good player (CB, in fact) and we shut his *** up after about 2 games. that was 40 freakin' years ago.

There is a difference, when Givens scored the TD in the Superbowl, he did not run over to TO and flex his arms, he did it in the end zone. If Hobbs ran to the middle of the field and did the choke sign or mocked Merriman than that's excessive. If he would have done it on the sidelines than fine, OK, let's move on but this is at cnterfield

That was the ump's "he's the mvp, don't hit him with a 15yarder" there's no other explanation becuase his hand never came off his mask, and it was right in front of the ref

Looked to me like the side judge had it all the way and was not hesitant about throwing his flag. I don't know anything about Corrente's crew, but I bet he's a rookie or darned close to it, and got talked out of it. Rare to see a senior official pick up a flag on a play like that where he's 8 feet from the play and throws such a definitive flag.

I have absolutely no problem with Hobbs mocking the Merriman dance. Screw Merriman, he's a cheater and a showboat and he deserves it.

I do have an issue with Hobbs giving the choke signal to Schottenheimer. That's not called for.

That being said, I hope Hobbs gets the opportuniy to deliver the same unsporting behavior to Peyton Manning next week. :rocker: :rocker:
