Have you played sports? Honestly, grow up. This isn't the playground at kindergarten. We shouldn't have to worry about people's feelings.
who gives a **** if he did give the choke sign.
THESE MOFOs are PRO athletes, they get paid **** loads of money, dont fuking tell me they get all upset over the slighest body language.
THIS IS FOOTBALL and not a book club.
Nothing wrong with celebrating the win. LT's problem was with a player mocking them in the middle of their field after such a hard fought (by both sides) and emotional game. After a game like that both teams should show respect to each other. That was a war by two teams filled with great warriors.
Yeah I just saw the interview with LT. He was really upset. I guess he just found out that not all players are as classy as he is.
He basically said he felt disrespected that they were being mocked by the Pats player doing Merriman's sack dance in the middle of their field after the win and that he would never do anything like that to an opponent.
I need to get a friggin life, have I played sports?, Have you? I know well enough that if I just played an all out war that I show my opponent enough respect whether win or lose. Celebrating is what you do in the dressing room after the contest. It's fine to be jacked up that they missed a field goal, run over the field and jump and holler but don't give the other team ammunition for the next time. If Hobbs did what he did, then he made a mistake. That's not what this organization is all about. Hey, after Willie stopped Edgerin a couple of y.ears ago, did he run to the center of the field and start doing histarics ala Peyton. No he ran to the center of the field excited - that's it. I suggest you get a life and change your name to Merriman Manny - becuase you obviously believe taunting is OK.
Supposedly Hobbs ALSO gave the SD bench the "CHOKE" sign after the missed FG. If he did do that, it was classless and Hobbs should have to apologize for that. We aren't a team of Shawne Merriman's who show our "class" by showing up on National TV in a wife beater. We are supposed to be the Patriots who win with style and class.
What LDT did was just as classless, though.
Thank you. Well friggin put, finally somebody on here who actually has a pair and doesn't get off on the idea of the Pats being a bunch of emotionless machines who are above the most natural of all instincts on a playing field.
Completely different. I am not even a Sauerbrun fan, but we signed him long after his issues. Merriman tested positive WITH the Chargers, and consistently blames it on the supplement company instead of himself. Sauerbrun admitted he made some stupid mistakes. Get over it, you lost. Stop being sour.
Plus, I think steroids help an LB a little more than a punter...
I am not being sour. You guys beat us and have scoreboard. But how can you try and rip Merriman with impunity when you guys EMPLOY a person that did the same thing. He cheated just the same. And using the excuse that he's "just a punter" is faulty logic. Say whatever you want about other parts of the game, but pulling the juice card like you're not as guilty with one of your players is being hypocritical. It is the very definition of it.
That is a bunch of horsesh*t. You can show emotion and do it with class. The way the REDSOX did when they won the World Series.
Hopefully one of the vets will talk to Hobbs. IMO he still needs to get control of his emotions a bit. Still, LT was wrong to talk about BB that way.. totally unnecessary especially as it came at the PC when he should have gained a little reflection time!
Yes, I do think taunting is OK, because it is.
I hope you never coach any of our children in any sport.
Because it's sports and taunting happens, and it's not classless. There is a line at some point, but the line falls well short of mocking another team's jacka** dance.
There is a difference, when Givens scored the TD in the Superbowl, he did not run over to TO and flex his arms, he did it in the end zone. If Hobbs ran to the middle of the field and did the choke sign or mocked Merriman than that's excessive. If he would have done it on the sidelines than fine, OK, let's move on but this is at cnterfield
I don't have a problem with Merriman's antics, he looks like a complete ******, yes, but what I do have a problem with is that he is a cheater.
This is not a cheater thread, it is all about excessive celebrations that aren't normal of Patriots players
Look, by your stringent definitions,
stringent definitions????? I wasn't even trying to define anything, I was trying to give you an example of celebrating a great play/game the Patriots way
McGinest's running to the center of the field after the Colts victory more than qualifies as classless, as does all our Eagle arm flapping dances, Deion Branch waving towels in Pittsburgh or making snow angels in the end zone.
The Pats are not above these things
you are so wrong - they are above these things as are many of the fans on this site
nor should they be, everyone get the hell over it, we won, enjoy it.
That was the ump's "he's the mvp, don't hit him with a 15yarder" there's no other explanation becuase his hand never came off his mask, and it was right in front of the ref
hobbs has been embarassing for what? 2-3 years now?
after his rookie year i thought either bruschi, mcginest, seymour, or harrison would have a long talk with him. but clearly that has not happened, and i'm surprised. there was once a core there that would have told him to act like a veteran, like he'd made the play before.
guess that's a side effect of letting go of so many still-serviceable vets.
i remember having a guy like that on our HS team, a good player (CB, in fact) and we shut his *** up after about 2 games. that was 40 freakin' years ago.
there is an issue there.
you are so wrong - they are above these things as are many of the fans on this site
