Which kind of brings up an interesting point -- if you were a team that beat the patriots, what would you immitate?

We don't have an fancy dances or anything like that to rub it in the faces of our opponents, other than maybe immitating theirs after we beat them.

Not sure I've ever heard an opposing player call out his opposing team's head coach after a game, so my message to LT would be: If you want to keep a team from dancing on your field, play better.

I never, EVER want to hear again about how LT is one of the classiest guys in the NFL. He just showed how much class he has by ripping the pats players and taking a personal shot at BB.

He has always been thought of as classy but that's because everything has always worked out great for him. It's easy to look like a class act when everything is going your way. You find out who really is classy during times of adversity. And we all know now what kind of scumbag this "LT" is.

I'm sure you can find anyone after they win the lottery when they are on top of the world and they come off as "classy". Of course they look "classy" b/c they just won the damn lottery... Just like LT, everything has been going great for him so he comes off as a great guy.

LT is like the little kid who loses and Mario Brothers and throws the controller while crying...
LT is like the girl in the commercial who yells "but Daddy i wanted the blue one......... blue blue blue blue blue!"

I will never think of this player in the same way and always remember him as a sore loser after this game.

And the fans on this site that aggreed with LT's comments and take his side should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.

That said, I mean the guy does all the right things in the community and stuff and is a positive force in the NFL and the lives of lots of people. So I'm not downplaying any of that.

And for the record, I'm not offended by it, I merely said it was a classic loser's lament (which I also said I'm guilty of myself) that he will regret.

In one way it's better that people of this perverse mentality show their 'true colors' in public (so we can acknowledge them for what they truly are).

It's astounding, illogical, and absolutely crazy to place blame on anyone other than the originating party (Merriman) for the simple animation of the same corrupt ritual that Merriman himself displays, with relish, upon his individual successes.

To label 'it' as disrespect, because it was performed by 'the opposition' in the originator's 'house' is a classic example of 'gang mentality'. It's classless and absolute stupidity to allege that 'respect' of this nature is part of the game.

Respect is to be honored by honor, esteem, consideration, and appreciation. It has nothing to do with ritual behavior (like celebration animations) which are characterized by the presence of established procedure or routine. If SD, LT, et. al. are inflamed because we bastardized their ritual behavior, then who cares.

It's ridiculous to even have to defend yourself, and akin to having to respond to a child who is screaming because you inadvertently picked up an object they have perceived ownership of.

That was the ump's "he's the mvp, don't hit him with a 15yarder" there's no other explanation becuase his hand never came off his mask, and it was right in front of the ref

Players do watch sportscenter, he could actually believe Belichick is not classy due to media blowing up the whole mangini/belichick feud, or sending in Testeverde to keep his touchdown streak alive with the ability to kill the clock on the goal line. I don't believe that, but it is certainly a possibility. I believe Belichick is a professional and generally an ass. LT believes mocking an opponent on the 50yardline at an opponents stadium after a heartbreaking loss when the opponents are running out to congratulate you is classless and I have no problem with that belief.

I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem with it if Hobbs did it in regulation. But there have been previous instances of mocking during the game and players calling it out in the media Giants vs Mario Williams, Ray Lewis vs TO.

Respect is earned. That's what we've been trying to pound into LaDanian's surfer boy fans noggins for the last two years. Disrespect is what TO did - spitting in a man's face. Every time Steriodman does that sack dance he is celebrating himself and mocking his adversary. Turnabout is a biatch. We won, and we celebrated by mocking a steriod abusers antics. No offence to LT - who is a tremendous talent - but if he wants to become a champion he'll have to grow a sack, and probably get out of SD. And maybe play for a first ballot HOF HC who actually does control what his players do on and off the field, unlike the cheerleader captain he plays for, or they don't play for him long.

But at least try to be objective and admit that when you win it's not classy to mock the other team in the middle of their field in front of their fans. I don't care what the other team has said or done. You rise above it and show you are better. You got the win, is it that hard to say that maybe that was wrong to do?

Fine. If you accept that the Chargers are not classy everytime Merriman celebrated, I certainly admit that the Pats PLAYERS were not classy by demonstrating to the Chargers fans how rude it is when Merriman does it.

I agree with you 100% that the classy team (read PLAYERS) should arise above it and show that we are better. Emotion is after all too strong when you beat the #1 ranked team.

I guess you are missing the point that LT had no business trying to slander the coach of the opposing team. He said he was very upset with the celebrations blah blah blah, I agree. But how you can make such a low blow against the opposing team coach like what he did in front of the media??

And wait, if you are going to retort that Brady did a similar thing last year, note that Brady asked Marty not to speak about the Pats and that's it. Brady did not snap that the Chargers or Marty lack any class. So, yes, I think the Pats are a far more classier team than any other and once in a way, they can respond with a lot of emotion when they win against teams that have openly spoke against them. (read what the players and the defensive coach said the last year after the game at Foxboro.)

Bingo. This is it. Like it or not there is a perception going around the league that while BB is a genius, he's a jerk and his team's not actually that talented. Resentment grows when one franchise dominates the league for over a half decade. We'll never have nine Pro-bowlers because of jealousy.

I am glad that was mentioned...THAT showed all about teh favoritism that exists...I saw a similar call MADE the other way..depends on WHo does it?? POOR officiating!!
