They run the ball and kill the clock. They tire out our defense. Then pass on our tired defense late in the game.
Meanwhile, we barely run the ball. BJGE only got 10 touches. Why were we rushing to score again when we have a 2 point lead? We have the OLine and the RB to kill the clock and tire out defenses. Instead we ran many plays without a RB in the backfield and let their big pass rushers pin their ears back and take shots at Brady. We have never attempted to tire out their defense or push them around in the run game. Giants do not have good run defense.
It's always the same damn strategy and its failed 3 times in a row.
The Giants had 7 losses this year. The Redskins in particular beat them twice by running the ball down their throat.
Right you are. Been saying the same thing for years.
Do you remember what the Pats strategy was back in the day of SB chmapionships....back when they actually had really goods defenses??
When they would face really good offenses they would use their own offense to keep the other guys off the field. Limiting the TOP for guys like Peyton Manning and thus keeping their own D off the field and fresh was an ACTUAL strategy. Unfortunately since the Patriots have morphed into The Greatest Show On Turf they no longer use their own offense as a weapon to control TOP. This Patriot offense does little if anything to help out this D.
The 1st qtr of tonight game was a prime example. Giants get the ball 1st. Pats D holds 'em. On the 1st play from scrimmage Brady throws that moronic pass into oblivion and the Pats are now down 2 pts, they have to punt thus giving the Gaints a short field and the defense is right back on the field.
But we blame them when they wear down. Ridiculous!
People used to say the 01 Rams would beat us 90% of the time too.
It doesnt really matter. The fact is, we lost to the Giants twice in the SB now. Both within the last 2 minutes of the game.
Tom Brady can throw for 5,000 yards.......50, 60 TD passes, It's not gonna
mean crap if you can't win the big one. I think he needs 5 rings if he wants to
be up there with Montana.
Coughlin is a better big game coach than BB is at this stage of their careers. It's not even debatable. Time to accept that fact.
He also knows BB like the back of his hand, which is another reason these games have been close.
Also, and most importantly, the Giants have drafted circles around NE in recent years. Nicks, Cruz Manningham, JPP, Tuck, Osi, Boley, etc. -- all home grown players.
It's not about the X's and the O's, it's about the Johnnies and the Joes. They're more talented and that shows up when it counts.
Look, the Patriots are a passing team. You're re-writing the book on passing. You guys have 4 and 5 receiver sets, sometimes with 2 Tight Ends, and your TE's are just big receivers like Shannon Sharpe. BB thinks pass first...and pass second.
So, it's not surprising that with the game on the line, BB kept passing even though "The Law Firm" had run well on his 10 measly carries.
BB wasn't going to change who he was (a pass-first coach) at the end of the game. You stay with the girl you took to the dance.
We've lost to the Giants 3 times in a row on game-ending drives by Eli Manning with a few minutes to go. Then we're left with less than 1 minute and 80 yards to catch up.
It's not a coincidence.

When you have the ball on the opponents 45 with a 2 point lead and 4:00 minutes to go, you try to score. You don't try to run it.
Let's pretend that they run it there instead of throwing. Let's pretend they even kick a 53 yard field goal after gaining 8 yards on runs. Manning and the Giants still have about 2 minutes to score a TD and win.
The Patriots would lose 21-20 instead of 21-17.
Yeah, I agree. In fact, running with BJGE on first down on their final set of downs on that drive was a big reason that drive failed because the Giants were expecting the Pats to run to run down the clock and they stacked the line.
What does that have to do with your original post? Even when they were controlling the time of possession for most of the game, they were still behind at the end of the game in all three games. It was when they went into hurry up mode where they actually won the game. They scored on that drive in under 3 minutes and when they tried to run down the clock, they failed because Bradshaw fell into the end zone when he should have stopped on the one yard line.
BTW, in the last Super Bowl, they could have easily lost that game if either Meriweather or Samuel held onto their easy INTs on that final drive. And if Welker caught his pass on the drive before the Giants' last drive, the Giants probably lose. Again, it is a game of inches.
I can say with i high degree of certainty that the Pats will be in the playoffs again next year like they always are. That can't be said for the Giants, last year they didn't make itPeople are just making up stuff to slam this team for the loss. The fact is the difference between the Pats and the Giants in this game was negligible. You can point to about a half dozen plays that if just one went a different way, the Pats probably win the Super Bowl. If one of three forced fumbles went the other way (the Pats didn't have 12 men on the field or they recovered one of the other two), the Pats probably win. If Welker catches that ball that went through his hands on the second to the last drive, the Pats probably win. If Belichick doesn't call for a review for the Manningham catch, the Giants probably kick a field goal and the Pats only have to score a field goal to win the game on the final drive and might have won. If Brady doesn't get the intentional grounding in the end zone, that could have been a 9 point swing.
The reason the Pats can't beat the Giants because both teams are pretty easily matched and the Giants have been better at stepping up at the right time and minimizing the costly mistakes (although if the Pats won yesterday, the Giants could be talking about a half dozen plays that if went the other way that they would have won).
